Caesar nodded, “I did. Though it feels like a lifetime ago.” while he had loved teaching it was something he didn’t dwell on. It made him nostalgic for days when walkers didn’t roam the earth. Caesar still used a bat from the Highschool he had taught at as a regular weapon. It had endured many brain bashings and acts of violence. It was the only part of his old life that he had clung to. “I got here after it all went to shit. Woodbury was just a little settlement when I showed up. After I helped clear out walkers the Governor himself asked me to stick around.” He clapped Axel on his shoulder before giving it a squeeze. “Now I’m one of his righthand men and I help keep the place running. Which is why you were told to come and talk to me, mijo. I could use someone like you out in the field. A little birdy told me you were fast. Is that true?” 

Axel listened to the other man’s words and nodded his head. “I think a lot of things feel like a lifetime ago, even if it probably wasn’t that long ago in the grandscheme of things.” Axel said quietly with a shrug of his shoulders. Axel jumped as the other clapped a hand down on his shoulder, and te young man flushed as he heard the other man’s words. “I am...I’m fast and sneaky. But I don’t have any combat experience sir.” Axel explained as he looked down shyly. “I-I would probably hinder you guys more than anything.”

“There’ll be time for a tour later on. For now we’re going to talk and I’m gonna get to know you.” Caesar explained with a nod of his head. Woodbury was particularly pretty at night when the Christmas lights around town illuminated it and lit the paths and streets for the citizens. Listening to Axel speak he folded his arms beneath his chest and nodded every now and then to convey that he was listening. Axel came from privilege and he could guess that just by looking at his fair skin and his demeanor. He reached over then and gave Axel’s shoulder an affectionate squeeze. “Pobrecito. You’re safe now at least. Nobody’ll give you a black eye in Woodburry unless you deserve it.” He winked before standing and gesturing for Axel to follow. “I used to be a gym teacher before all this.” Caesar did what he had to protect those that came under his care and during the early days out the outbreak he had done his best. Caesar had lost nearly all of his family and his closest friends in the resulting panic. Now all he had left was Woodburry. “It’s not all that interesting, mijo. I promise.”

Axel couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle as he heard the other man’s joke. “W-Well, I’ll try my best not to deserve one then.” Axel said with a smile on his face as he looked at the other. “A gym teacher, huh? Did you enjoy it?” Axel questioned. Watching as  the other man stood up, Axel did the same with a soft grunt. “If you say so. Although I think even the most basic of lives had interesting moments before the dead started to walk. Axel looked around after standing up, stretching slightly. “Where you here when the walkers started? Or did you happen across it?” Axel asked the other man curiously.

Caesar never had high hopes for the survivors that swept through Woodbury. They were far too soft and often fell short of the expectations of the Governor. Axel was young, educated, slender and flexible which were all promising traits. Caesar waited for the new recruit on one of the armored fences lining the town. Glancing over his shoulder he grinned at the boy, “You found him, mijo. I’m guessing you’re Axel.” He offered one of his hands to the boy and took a moment to size him up. “I’m one of the Governor’s right hand men. So you’ll be seeing a lot of me.” Caesar was also admittedly going to take Axel under his wing only because the boy was cute. Attractive people were hard to find now that the walkers had drained the land of them. Caesar gestured for Axel to sit on a nearby folding chair. “So tell me about yourself, mijo. What’d you do before all of this, huh?” He asked, obviously referring to the dead that shambled toward Woodburry.

Axel looked at the other man when he told him that he found him, letting out a sigh of relief. “Thank Goodness. I was worried that I was going to end up making myself look like a fool.” Axel said with a chuckle as he looked at the other man. Hearing the other say that he was one of the Governor’s right hand men made Axel’s eyes widen. “Really? And your giving me a tour? Th-Thank you a lot.” Axel said respectfully with a smile. Axel sat on the chair and bit his bottom lip. “Well...It’s. abit embarrassing.” Axel said shyly before sighing. “I was born to a wealthy family. No battle experience or anything like that. I was going to medical school in Harvard when all of this went ot shit. I managed to stay at my parent’s mansion for awhile. They had a lot of food, and had automatic weapons and cameras mounted across te property for security. I was dumb and basically tried my best to pretend like the world wasn’t going to crap.” Axel admitted with an embarrassed sigh. “But...Food ran out after a few months. So I tried to go out to get more food, and when I came home it had been taken over by another group. I had asked them to at least let me continue living there, but tey were having none of it. Gave me nothing but a black eye.” Axel said with a sigh and a frown. “W-What about you?” Axel asked curiously.

Axel gulped as he looked at tall buildings as he walked. Axel had been told to meet at the main building and he would be shown his living quarters and given a tour of the city. Axel was definitely pretty nervous about being here. Everyone seemed so...Skilled. Everyone had a purpose. And Axel? Axel did not. The young boy had a very privileged life before the undead began walking, and any skills he did learn it was more on the fly. the boy learned how to live off of canned foods and water for days. Although he still didn’t know how to use a gun. Although thankfully, the boy was flexible and fast. And decent when it comes to medical things. Axel had been going to college to be a doctor when this all started going down, after all. “Um...Are you Mr. Martinez?” Axel asked as he caught sight of someone who seemed like they could be waiting for him. “I’m A-Axel...I was told to come here to meet A Caesar Martinez?” Axel asked shyly as he looked at the handsome man that he had just approached.
