Journey Through Midwest: Dormant Season by Erinn Springer
Photographer Erinn Springer was born in Dunn County, Wisconsin, and completed her bachelor's degree in New York City. She is currently based in both Duluth, Minnesota and Brooklyn, New York.
Erinn Springer's work is the outcome of experiencing both rural and city lifestyles. She honors the characteristics of rural life. However, amidst the predominance of urban living, people often overlook their roots in rural areas and the wisdom inherited from the land itself.
The "Dormant Season" series documents her journey of reconnecting with her home state. While spending time in rural Wisconsin, she gains a new perspective on rural life, its daily rhythms, and essential aspects.
As mentioned in the foreword of "Dormant Season," Erinn Springer's work raises more questions than answers about rural life and the Midwest.
To discover more, visit Erinn Springer's website and Instagram.
She said "Dormant Season is an exploration of the contrasting realities of an evolving agrarian world. Created with my family and strangers, the work portrays connection and isolation through fleeting moments of the modern Midwest, where the story of self and society intertwines with the life cycles of the land. Textures of domestic life and illustrations of familial dynamics provide intimate glance into a realm that is both surreal and certain. Like regionalistic paintings, these mysterious and familiar tableaus reflect upon exterior and emotional landscapes to underscore a personal narrative within a larger American experience. Suspended between past and present, Dormant Season is a portrait of the intergenerational bonds of rural America: a mental space and physical place at the heart of an old dream and at the edge of a transformation.” to Boooooom.

3D Tablet Pill Mockup - 10 Animated Templates
STEP 1:
Open the /PSD/Design by Dirtybarn.psd file. Add your design according to the template. If your design is not black and white, make it black and white. We will add this design as a bump to our 3D asset. Black areas will be deeper, while areas closer to white will be less deep. You can prepare accordingly.
Note: You will see noise in the background in the work file. This noise is added to give the dotted structure of the pill. If you want to reduce it, you can reduce the opacity of these dots.
Overwrite the design you made (SAVE AS->SAVE FOR WEB) on the BLENDERtexturespill.009.png image.
STEP 2:
At this stage, we will use Blender but only for rendering. So you will not need to know Blender at all.
1.First of all, we download Blender 3.3.
https://www.blender.org/download/lts/3-3/
2.After installing, we look at the ID of the template we like in the folder named BLENDER and double-click on the appropriate Blender file.
3.Click on the button on the right and select OUTPUT to choose which path our video will take.
4.From the top navbar, under the RENDER tab, click on RENDER ANIMATION.

Sam Wood's absurd and colorful 3D world
Sam Wood is a London-based 3D illustrator and animator. His style is colorful, eclectic, and flashy. It feels like the Earth is augmented with more fluffy, wobbly, and floated elements. Life is boosted with neon-like lights and it's easy to lose yourself in it.
Sam Wood’s work combines the versatility of 3D design and the absurdity of digital figures which they far away from uncanny or realistic. Sam Wood explains his work as “embracing odd movements”.
Honestly, his style and approach are just an invitation letter to his world. While Hollywood going crazy about multiverses and extended universes, artists are already doing that for the masses. While each work is ideologically different from the others, each one borrows its insights from the same source. Sam Wood's work is an exceptional example of this as well.
He says to It's Nice That, “the relationship between my analogue drawing practice and 3D design form a conversation which is always developing and changing.” Because he is still in touch with physical mediums. When the digital work is finished, he goes back to his sketchbook and draws which is one the sources for inspiration for him.
You can check out Sam Wood's work from his website and Instagram!

Adèle Aproh reimagines The Major Arcana with Russian doll-like narrative
Paris-based French artist Adèle Aproh creates her paintings using different techniques and materials, swiftly leveraging colored pencils, markers, airbrushes, oil, and more. Her dynamic narrative is influenced by pop culture and surrealism.
Adèle Aproh finds similarities between her work and Russian dolls, as both can be opened up and explored for deeper meanings. She shared with Innovative Artist Grants, 'Telling stories within stories, unfolding an absurd universe full of symbolism and references.'
I feel that her work can be peeled and inspected for nuances and details. It's not just the main story that matters in her paintings. It's more like witnessing the process she puts in and her thoughts on the creation.
Adèle Aproh pivoted her career in communication with a business school diploma to painting and her craft. She stated to It's Nice That, 'the best decision I’ve ever taken.'
She started experimenting with recreating The Major Arcana set with her style and touch in October 2022. You can check out Adèle Aproh's work on her Instagram.

Your bubble tea order is arrived! - a short by wang2mu
Shanghai-based artist, illustrator, and creative wang2mu released a short animated film right before the 2023 ending. wang2mu's story is based on the recent bubble tea craze happening all around the globe. The film is assumingly called Milk Tea or Bubble Tea because it's translated from Chinese and it's hard to be sure that translation is correct. The Chinese title of the film is 奶茶.
While wang2mu says, that they tried all sorts of alternatives of it but didn't like any of it, on its Instagram post. It's more like giving new chances constantly just to be disappointed.
The story has its noir setting while a piece of lo-fi music in the background makes it more modern. They create a great blend between the past and the present.
wang2mu leveraged so many different tools to make this piece a reality. Mainly the final version created on Blender. However, Adobe Photoshop After Effects, and Procreate take a part in the process too. Midjourney and ChatGPT were also used in the making as well.
The story is simple yet captivating and moving. You can find some behind-the-scenes GIFs as well below, but the GIF files are huge and it might take a while to be loaded.
You can check wang2mu's Instagram and Behance portfolios.

El after del mundo: Crossing paths of two souls
Humanity ended on the planet Earth and there are nothing but ruins everywhere. El after del Mundo (The World's After) is an animated short film created by Florentina González.
After everything was destroyed, there weren't many living creatures around there. The story starts with a soul seeking a stable wifi connection. His luck isn't in his favor but he's persistent.
Eventually, he meets with another ghost, we begin to realize their relationship and similar sides as well as opposites. While their environment changes the story develops.
The animation and character design are spectacular, the story hooks the viewer to other aspects. In some moments I felt the same vibe with Midnight Gospel, a Netflix-produced animated series. In some ways, the similarity is out there and that also gave me comfort and let me into the story.
El after del Mundo does not need any praise from anyone because the awards they get from festivals show its value.
You can check Florentina González's Instagram and Vimeo profiles for more information. You can also watch the short film from Vimeo with close captions as well.
