hello would. you like to elaborate on. ford pines osdd. ((because I recently got diagnosed and. blorbo moments. but also because I love the idea in general. ford "I feel like I've lived 50 different lives" pines.))
so, first off, I want to apologize for putting this off for so long. I think it's been a couple of weeks at this point but I'm not entirely sure. Anyway, after getting this ask I immediately got really really excited and started outlining what I quickly realized was going to be a monster of an analysis post.
So much so, in fact, that I ended up having to move it all into a google doc. whoops.
As it turns out, this ask ended up being the thing to motivate me to go over a lot of other related thoughts about GF’s writing that I’d had stewing in my brain for ages, so you're getting an essay that you probably didn't sign up for. Again: my bad. I hold the champion's title for being the most long-winded autistic bitch to ever live.
Either way, as you might have guessed, I would love to elaborate on Ford Pines' hypothetical OSDD.

FINALLY AFTER OVER A YEAR I’m posting photos and I think I’m finally able to call this piece done. The gracious @sovonight allowed me to use a sketch from Ko-fi to create this.
My vision from the beginning was to create a piece that had light behind it to really highlight my fav feature of the Shack: the stained glass.
This piece became an extra challenge when I foolishly decided it was going to be an 11x17 format without realizing they don’t make 11x17 shadowbox frames. FML. ALWAYS FIND YOUR FRAME FIRST, KIDS!
Fortunately, my dad was able to help me build a frame, and it seems to have worked out alright. It just took way too damn long to get it finished.
I can’t take good photos of my art to save my life, but here you go anyway.
Don’t fucking repost this.
I spent too long on it for that bullshit.

guy who spent a long time under the influence of a demon, which had disguised itself as something benign and given him the impression it was helping him achieve his own goals while in reality was manipulating him for its own benefit. this was eventually revealed in a sudden and dramatic manner, resulting in an eye injury (temporary or permanent) and led to him becoming completely consumed by the desire to exact revenge on this demon, at the expense of his own well being, in order to prevent said demon from manipulating others into finishing the work that it perpetuated with him and destroying the boundary between worlds. also hes autistic
finished reading dungeon meshi can i say something maybe a bit deranged. mithrun is like if fords story had been treated with a single ounce of respect or sympathy by any of the writers
#some major differences obviously but TO ME theyre the same genre of guy#and re 'respect or sympathy' i was thinking in terms of how we see the long term effects of what happened to them both respectively#like we know that mithrun is suicidal we know that he struggles to place value on his own life and take care of himself at all#(in universe explanation for that obviously but its a pretty clear metaphor imo)#& this is taken seriously and overcoming it is a hugeeee part of his arc#meanwhile fords issues are more played off as jokes or seen as negative personality traits or just implied but with the way alex talks abt#him im inclined to believe they were implied unintentionally#so we end up with 'yeah he doesnt eat but its funny. he struggles to trust anyone bc he sucks. he keeps saying hes willing to die if it#means stopping bill and blames himself for everything and sleeps in his clothes but dont worry about that'

The triangle started popping up all around the house. It would manifest itself in dark corners and architectural details and patterns in textiles. Knots in the house’s rough hewn beams would stare out at you like eyes. Knots that they didn’t remember being there before.
They found it amusing at first, there was nothing inherently malignant to the shape. Later, Stan would try to eradicate it to no avail. He threw that rug in the entryway out on four different occasions. He burned it once. It somehow found its way back.
