Basically anything about the fandoms I’m currently in, such as: Steven Universe, The Owl House, She-Ra, etc... Also, some memes. This is not a spoiler-free blog.
Crawling out of hibernation to celebrate the good news. I’m hideously far behind on C3 but maybe this will be what persuades me to catch up. :)
[ID: a fanart comic of Imogen and Laudna from Critical Role, campaign three, episode 65. In the first panel, an anxious looking Imogen asks “Can I kiss you?" In the next panel, drawn in a simple, comical style, she continues "I can’t tell if it’s alright or not anymore." Imogen looks embarrassed and Laudna has a surprised-pikachu expression. In the third panel, Laudna replies "…Alright." Imogen, relieved, asks "Alright?" and Laudna confirms "Alright!"
In the fourth panel there is as awkward pause, with both women saying "…" as they wait for the other to make the first move. In the fifth panel, Imogen throws herself at a suprised Laudna, clasping her face in both hands and leaning in to kiss her. The plain background has turned to sparkly pink clouds. The final panel shows a close up of their two faces as they kiss. Both have their eyes closed. This panel is drawn in a more realistic style compared to the earlier panels. End ID]
In my opinion, the reason Imogen started crying during her talk with Laudna is because she said everything Imogen has been desperate to hear since she first made that comment about settling down in the Heartmoore. Imogen so desperately wants a normal life, and she wants to live it with Laudna. Hearing about their potential quiet life in a cottage raising horses proves to Imogen that Laudna cares about and listens to her. She understands Imogen, and her promise that they could be each other's better halves and live their lives together is all Imogen has ever wanted.
And maybe they won't survive. Maybe Imogen will betray them and defect to Otohan's side. Maybe she'll try to convince Laudna to run away with her. Who knows! But in that moment, Imogen had what she's always wanted: a promise of a dream that doesn't hurt, with the woman she loves most in the world.
to me it’s the fact that Imogen sought out Orym first. how she asked about his husband, about “big moon, little moon”, asking if the meaning changed. asking if it was worth the hurt, if it was going to be worth it once it all inevitably goes wrong.
