I have a little ritual I do. When I look at myself in the mirror, I make eye contact and ask, "How you doin' today, love?" It may sound silly to some. But, to those who do a lot of emotional labor, this might make sense. Before starting on this design, I was going to do a full bridal, just for the fun of it. My inner self, though, insisted I do something meaningful. And I thought of patches and how everything goes through things... some things heal, some things become patches we always wear in our soul. This design is a reminder that I, too, have patches. I, too, recovered some and never recovered the other. I, too, need to be kind. To me, too. It's been awhile since I shared my henna practice videos. I got carried away with all the colors and options acrylics offer and believed that as long as I am still using the cone, it's all good. Haha! Not so much! Henna flow and texture is so different from the paint that it requires different set of muscles to work!
