Big Bend Bloom🌹
My personal favorite piece to date. The pattern is inspired by my birthday trip last year to Big Bend & this piece pushed by skills with glass cutting & soldering.
I’ve only done decorative soldering once before this project & it was on a tiny potted glass cactus. I DEFINITELY went overboard the first go around…just looked like i forgot to smooth my lines. Cooled the piece down, removed the excess solder, cooled it down again, then tried again. Second time was a success in my eyes!
I do tiffany style stained glass, which included wrapping each piece in a copper foil tape. Solder sticks to the copper & stiffens the tape. Generally I don’t love copper patina (patina= an acid that stains the solder, comes in copper or black), but the color contrast of the copper tape convinced me it was the only way to go for this one.
