Dear world of clownery. May I introduce you to q tee clown dolls, if you've not yet heard of them. These dolls are adorable and I'm obsessed with them, they're made by Disney but have been discontinued.

So I’ve concocted this (obviously inspired by similar things), and I’m going to try and do it, if anyone wants to get involved

Hey, what clowns are best to have on a low budget? I'm not so irresponsible that I would get one I couldn't pay to take care of, but I can't cover the more intricate needs of some fancier clowns. I have plenty of time on my hands, so I don't need a necessarily /easy/ clown, just an inexpensive one.
honestly? ive come to realize rodeo clowns, if you have a big enough area, dont require much except stuff to jump over and run around.
i also am of course required to recommend sad clowns because theyre my favorites.

May I ask what different types of Harlequin and mines there are, and what are the physical differences to each ?
mimes are smaller, more nimble, but move slowly and stop a lot, like a chameleon. harlequins, on the other hand, wear masks, and are entirely stealth hunters, sneaking up on their prey to capture and consume it.
theres too many breeds to list atm, theyre like dogs and cats!

can you keep arlecchino and Pierrot breeds together? I know arlecchino are the breed modern harlequins derived from, but I've never kept them together and I don't know
pierrots are pretty laid back, so id say yes! arlies have a pretty strong prey drive, but honestly, pierrots can defend themselves very very well, even the smaller ones.

Are there any health complications due to selective breeding in any kind of clown?
some breeds of carnival clowns have deformed noses that are simply too round and red, leading to breathing complications!

(a break from the drama) Today I watched Killer Clowns From Outer Space! It's a very graphic depiction about mutilating clowns until they become violent and un-trusting of humans! Like, this is why you don't change markings! It can eventually deform your clown, and they could become mean due to the pain it causes! Clowns are not inherently violent! They learn violence through poor care like this! They do it to protect themselves. STOP CHANGING YOUR CLOWNS MARKINGS!
YEAH MAN! QUIT IT WITH THE CLOWN CRUELTY!

hi! i've been thinking about getting a creepy, but i'm just not sure about the kind of environment it should be in. should i decorate my house with the normal, sort of kitschy halloween decor? should i go out to buy more seriously scary halloween decor? is it safe to get a creepy during the halloween season? im just concerned about someone getting scared of it and hurting it.
Most adoption agencies dont allow the adoption of Creepys in October anyway, so don’t worry too much about that. After the season, you can foster a creepy or two and find one who prefers an aesthetic you like!

Hi! I am looking to keep clowns. I have done quite a bit of research, and have space for a very nice set up! I recently went to my local clown shelter to interact with some different types of clowns. I especially liked a Pierrot/Saccharine mix, a Pierrot/mime, and one I can't quite identify! She was a sweetie, soft warbling honk and pink hair with heart shapes sprinkled throughout her markings. Do you think it would be okay to keep these three together, provided I give them plenty of space?
yeah, i think it would be okay to house them together- its more a matter of if you think you, a first time clown owner, would be able to handle three clowns at once? if so, then youre golden!

Hi! I've recently had the opportunity to expand and prepare for my second clown, and a family friend who is a recognized breeder has offered me a chance at one of a wonderful clutch of Classical Pierrot-Decora cross gigglets! Do you know anything about this designer crossbreed, and would one be a good or amicable companion for my Boardwalk Pierrot, Pavi?
pierrot hybrids like to flock together, so im sure theyd get along swimmingly.
i know pierrot hybrids are generally just like the original breed but a touch more mournful, kinda solemn? so a decora / pierrot hybrid would be just like a decora (peppy, amiable and cheerful) but slightly less energetic and prone to melancholy.

On “Sexy” Clowns
Okay. I have a lot of opinions about “sexy” clowns and you should probably know up front that all of them are negative. I have so many opinions that I wrote an essay on it, apparently.
I don’t think clowns should be bred for the “sexy” trait at all. Sexy isn’t a proper breed, that I agree with, it’s a very extreme characteristic that doesn’t occur in wild clowns. The lack of covering on their bodies mean they can’t bounce when they fall, in fact they can barely absorb any kind of shock, which they need to be able to do in order to safely express their natural behaviors. “Sexy” clowns are prone to a huge list of health problems, from high risk of frill tears to a disorder that’s so frequently diagnosed in “sexy” type clowns that it’s called Sexy Clown Syndrome, despite the fact that irresponsibly bred clowns of almost any breed or phenotype can develop the condition. SCS is fatal within three years, without exception.
And even if they don’t develop SCS, these clowns will have drastically reduced lifespans, with more injuries and a greater likelihood of getting sick, because that lack of natural covering means they don’t have the ability to keep themselves warm like other clowns do. This is the most common argument for keeping them as housepets, but we all know it’s not the actual motivation for wanting this type of clown in one’s home.
I believe all existing sexy clowns should be nutered, all breeding operations trying to produce them shut down, and that everyone keeping a sexy clown as a housepet investigated to make sure the clown is being treated both well and like an actual pet. Clowns of any breed cannot consent, and the idea that clowns could ever be available to humans for improper activities should be snuffed out immediately and completely.
We have adult human performers who can and do dress up as clowns professionally, and who are actually able to understand what they’re doing/eliciting with such performances. On the other hand, we have a lot of sick clowns in need of rescue and rehabilitation from very bad situations that breeding this type of clown only encourages.
Please know that my rant on this comes from both my opnions as a clown keeper in general, and because three years ago I took in a rescued clown from a good friend whose situation had changed so that they couldn’t keep clowns. My Lili is an acrobat/sad cross, and she was bred to be a sexy clown. Because she’s low energy and naturally tends to play with props that are less dangerous, she is thankfully less prone to accidently getting injured through her normal behaviors.
But even years after she was rescued from her original owner, she has behavioral issues stemming from the treatment and attention she recieved during that time that will never go away. As her keeper, my job is to work with her to establish and maintain healthy behaviors, to encourage her interest in normal activities for her breeds, and in general keep her safe and content.
Overall, I think “sexy” type clowns are an example of irresponsibility on the part of breeders and buyers alike, and I will be adamant about that for as long as I’m keeping clowns.

Hello there! Thank you so much for making this blog, it’s really made me interested in clowns! For a couple nights now, I’ve been hearing honks outside in the dark. Just small giant ones, nothing big. I think I have a clown (left behind by former owners?) inhabiting my neighbourhood, and I’d like to know what to do about it. I just can’t keep hearing the long sad honks anymore!
huh! id suggest leaving out a ballpit or clown car in the evening, then checking in the morning- your little buddy will almost certainly have found his way to it and be resting peacefully inside. then i recommend taking him to the vet to get him checked out and, if hes healthy, tame, and you have the time? you might have made yourself a friend!

Hey, I’ve been planning to keep a clown for a while now, but I know that I cannot house a troupe. Do you know of any breeds that are solitary and don’t need a close familial troupe? (My friend has a troupe of four so the little guy can visit them and not feel isolated). Thank you!
Mimes are pretty solitary! mimes ad mime-hybrids dont require a troupe.

hi there! i found a clown egg near my backyard recently, and i'm afraid it may not have a mother, since it's been there for a few days and i haven't seen any signs of a mother clown nearby. would it be a wise decision for me to take in the egg, or should i wait a little longer to see if the mother comes back? i've been wanting to keep a clown for a while and i just really don't want the little guy to hatch all alone :(
go ahead and take it in! poor thing probably is abandoned. do you have the resources to care for a chucklet? if not, theres a few shelters that accept eggs.
