Hear me out: KaeBedo Code Geass AU
Albedo - or rather Calx, as he tells everyone his name is - is an immortal who grants other people mind-controlling powers with the hope that he’ll one day be able to transfer his immortality to one of them and finally be able to die.
Kaeya is his latest attempt, an exiled prince of a spreading empire.
The Geass takes the form of the Khaenri’ahn star-shaped pupils, so Kaeya actually starts out with normal eyes at first and then as his power progresses, his pupils become permanently star-shaped.
It first becomes permanent in his right eye, so he starts wearing the eyepatch, but after it becomes permanent in both eyes, he just kinda accepts it and uses contacts so he doesn’t end up giving people unintentional commands.
