Chloe wished she had known about Arizona, Barbara and Daniel sooner. She was 16 now and had lived for 14 of those without knowing who any of them were. She had always been so desperate to get to know more of her family and had asked several times throughout her childhood, but Rachel - her mother - had always told her that her family was those around her. It was enough for younger Chloe, especially when Adam entered their lives. He was nice and he treated Chloe like she was his own. She didn't mind, but then 14 year old Chloe discovered that letter and her world changed.
Barbara and Daniel knew about Chloe through Rachel's letters to them but they were made to keep Chloe a secret as Rachel wasn't ready to tell anyone yet. Barbara and Daniel did honour this, but it mean that Arizona was never made aware of the fact that Tim had a daughter she had never met. Of course, Arizona was going to struggle to process that but now that Chloe was 16 and Rachel had finally agreed to let her meet her family, things were going to get easier.
Arizona was everything that Barbara and Daniel had described her to be. Sure, Chloe was excited to have met her grandparents, but she mostly excited to meet Arizona. She was bubbly and fun! Something that Chloe mirrored almost perfectly. Chloe was very much like Arizona in many ways, from the quirky clips in her hair to the way she rambled. She was a perfect mix of the Robbins family and her own mother, Rachel. Now that Chloe was face to face with Arizona and talking about the kids on the ward, she could see that. "I'd love to. I have a whole bunch of clips and some really cool spray that's like glitter. It comes out in the wash though, don't worry! I've tested it." She quickly added. "Oh, you have a daughter?" She grinned, happy to learn that there was another family member she was yet to meet.
Chloe was down for hearing anything about her father. She had felt such a distance from her mother as she never talked about Tim, but when she did, it was short stories. Chloe treasured them, but knew there was so much more to learn. She eagerly nodded her head, a smile crossing her features. "I want to know everything about him. He seemed like a great guy. I'm sad that I won't get to meet him." She admitted quietly before beginning to walk with Arizona towards the park so that they could continue to get to know each other more.
She wanted to ensure that Arizona knew why Rachel had kept all of this from her, so she quickly turned the conversation back to that for a moment. "My mom said she struggled with his death and she thought it was easier to move away. She talked about her 'best friend' a lot though, but when I asked her for a name, she never told me. She told me yesterday that she had been talking about you all these years. She really is sorry for leaving..." Chloe said, feeling empathy for her mother as it was clear that she was struggling.

Chloe Robbins was raised by her mother, Rachel Allen. She married Tim Robbins and became Mrs Rachel Allen-Robbins. The two were so happy together, with the picture perfect life but there was one thing that wasn’t so perfect between them. Tim was in the army and it took a toll on their marriage.
He was constantly back and forth on tours and it left Rachel wondering if he would ever return home. The nights were the longest, waiting for that call to tell her that he was alright. It always came. Even if it was later than the last day… but then one day, that call never came in. She didn’t hear from him and she knew from that very moment that something was wrong.
Rachel hadn’t heard from Tim in a few days and her worry and fear was kicking in. She had called @withlivelycharm, Tim’s sister, to see if she had heard anything. No success. The next few calls she made was to Barbara and Daniel Robbins - Tim’s parents. Neither of them had heard from Tim either.
Rachel was starting to panic so she went to visit her in laws to try and calm her nerves. She was hiding a big secret and wanted nothing more than to tell Tim. She was pregnant. They had spent so long trying to get pregnant, but it just never stuck and the one time it had, Tim wasn’t here to celebrate this joyous news that they had both been waiting so long for.
She was blessed with this baby she had the joys of carrying, but then she found out that Tim’s life was taken away. He was killed in action. He never knew about the baby. He never got the news that he was going to be a father and his death completely destroyed Rachel. She hardly left the house. She stayed curled up on her couch, clutching a t-shirt of his and a framed photo of their wedding day.
Despite her once close bond with Arizona, Rachel just couldn’t bring herself to talk to her anymore so she completely pulled away. She struggled through her pregnancy alone and gave birth to Chloe Jayne Robbins. Rachel and Tim had spoken about baby names before and he had said he loved the name Jayne. Rachel had made fun of him, but with his passing, she thought it was a nice way to honour him.
Having Chloe was hard. Rachel had no clue what she was doing and she was still grieving the loss of Tim. She had pulled away from his family and just needed to get away, so she packed her bags and moved to California with her daughter, cutting most contact with the Robbins family. She stayed in touch with Barbara and Daniel via letters but everything else was much too painful.
When Chloe was five, she met another man. She worked hard to heal and Andy came into her life at just the right time. Chloe knew he wasn’t her real father, but she didn’t question it once. She enjoyed Adam’s company and he was nothing but sweet to her. Then, on her fourteenth birthday, she got to the mail before her mother could and discovered she had been hiding half of her family from her.
Chloe found a birthday card, sent from Seattle. It was addressed to her and inside it, was a letter about how they would wish she would write them back and how they would never stop writing to her. It was signed Barbara and Daniel Robbins.
Robbins. They’re family. Chloe was so mad at her mother for hiding this from her that she locked herself in her bedroom for her whole birthday. She didn’t come out for cake or presents or anything. She stayed in her room, crying with that card clutched to her chest. Her mother had been hiding these from her. Why? Why would she hide the cards and half of her family?
The next day, Chloe confronted her mother and they argued. The subject was shut down again, until two years later. Rachel finally agreed to let Chloe meet her family in Seattle. They flew over, spent some time with Barbara and Daniel and then Rachel dropped Chloe off at the hospital to meet Arizona for the first time.
Being in the hospital with Arizona now and talking about the butterfly clips in her hair made Chloe smile from ear to ear. As Arizona explained why she couldn’t have the clips in, Chloe nodded and took in the information as she always did with everything that everyone had told her. “Oh, okay. That makes sense. Oh! I could come in and braid the kids’ hair one day?” Chloe suggested. “It might give them something to look forward to. I know hospitals can be a scary place.” She beamed a smile, that kind hearted side to her coming to the surface once again.
Chloe had been told stories about Tim by her grandparents and her mother, but she was here to hear out things that Arizona had to say. She didn’t mind if it was the same story either. She just wanted to know him and feel as close to him as possible. “I don’t have many good friends either so I know how it feels. I have some super close friends though.” Chloe added with a smile. “I want to know everything about him. I don’t mind hearing a story again. Sometimes, it’s better the second time around anyway.” Chloe giggled sweetly.
Rachel had kept Chloe from everyone because she couldn’t deal with the loss of Tim and then she waited too long and thought everyone hated her. Chloe wanted to explain that her mother wasn’t a bad person, but she had made some bad decisions. “I think she knows you would never be able to fully hate her, but you know what my Mother’s like.” Chloe rolled her eyes in a joking manner. “She wants to talk to you but she wanted me to have time with you first. Oh, did I tell you she got married?! His name is Andy. He’s pretty cool but he makes the WORST tea ever!” Chloe pulled a face at the end of her ramble. The classic Robbins thing. Rambling.
“Oh, I saw this cute little park across from here. We could go there? They have a cute little café on the side. That way, you’re close to here if you need to be.” Chloe suggested, knowing how important time was when it was an emergency. She was very mature. Whilst Arizona went to grab some water for both of them and get her resident clued up on cases, Chloe texted her mother and let her know that she was going to spend the afternoon with Arizona. She was beyond excited to get to know her Aunt and learn more about the father she had never gotten to meet.

Making friends for teens as shy as Chloe and Nia was tough. Chloe wasn’t the most confident kid around and often doubted her own abilities to do anything. She was often alone, head in a book or drawing something on her tablet or in a sketchbook. Chloe was a creative kid, but it meant that she was shy. So meeting people online was like putting her best foot forward. Of course, she was careful. She didn’t give out personal information to just anyone. It took a while for her to bond with people until personal conversations such as those happened, but with Nia, it was like an instant connection.
Nia and Chloe liked a lot of the same things. They were very similar in personality, with a love for Disney and all things girly. The two hit it off right away and Nia became Chloe’s best friend. She told Nia everything. She confided in her about her mother and everything that was going on there. She spoke with her about how tough school was. She talked to her about school projects and went shopping with her through FaceTime on many occasions. The two really did everything together, even though they were almost 1,000 miles away from each other.
With new developments in getting her mother to come back to Seattle, Chloe had big plans. Meeting her family would come first and for the first few days, she had fun just getting to know everyone, but then she wanted to meet Nia. She raised the idea to Arizona who luckily knew Nia’s big brother and worked in the same hospital with him and Arizona agreed to let the girls have a sleepover at her house whilst she was at work. Of course, she would be home a little later on but it gave the girls time together first without interruptions.
To say the blonde was excited was an understatement. She adored Nia. Probably much more than she would ever admit out loud. This opportunity to spend the night with her was everything and more so she had really pulled out the stops. As the car pulled up, Chloe ran outside and greeted Nia. She waved to her brother as he drove off and then let out an excited squeal. “It’s me! It’s really me.” She said with a giggle so sweet that it sounded innocent. She guided Nia into the living room where the set up was and laughed as soon as the other teen mentioned snacks. “Soon. Let me show you upstairs first. You can put your stuff up there and then we can watch the movie together. Sound good?” She said, checking with her best friend that the plan was okay. She was so excited for this night. It was finally happening!

Having a best friend means that you always have someone to lean on, to count on, to turn to when times are hard. It means having that person you can talk to about anything and everything. It can be the only person that cheers you up on sad days and makes you laugh so much that your cheeks and belly start to hurt. That’s exactly what Chloe has found in Nia Kim.
Chloe and @ebullientappeal met online and from the moment they started talking, they hit it off. They became instant best friends, talking every day and updating each other on their lives. Chloe and Nia were inseparable, even though they lived in totally different places. Nia was in Seattle and Chloe was in California. She was born in Seattle, but moved with her mother, Rachel, to California shortly after she was born.
After discovering that she has family in Seattle, Chloe was eager to meet them. She argued with her Mom for years about it until she finally agreed to let Chloe go. Together, they went to Seattle and Chloe met Arizona Robbins — her father’s sister and her grandparents. She was so excited to meet her Aunt and grandparents, but there was one more person she was /dying/ to meet and that was Nia.
Chloe spent a few days with Arizona and her grandparents before video calling Nia and telling her that she was in Seattle. The pair screamed out of sheer happiness and came up with a plan to meet. It turns out that both Arizona and Nico — Nia’s brother — worked at Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital so they knew of each other. This made meeting someone from online a lot more comfortable for every party involved.
Arizona and Nico figured out the details and on the day they were set to meet, Nico picked Nia up from his parents house and drove straight to Arizona’s house where Chloe was staying. On the front door, there was a sign which read “now showing : Tangled. Remember to grab your snacks before the movie starts and enjoy your stay!”
Chloe had set up a movie day, with a snack table and a comfy beanbag chair area in Arizona’s front room. There was a pamper station that they would do during the movie or after, a gaming system set up so they could play a few things together and an area with three podiums. One was opposite the other two and there were cards placed face down. Chloe had set up a Disney quiz for the girls to take when Arizona got home from her shift. Arizona would ask the questions, Nia and Chloe would buzz in using their Disney themed buzzers and answer, racking up points in order to win a frog Squishmallow. Chloe loved frogs and squishmallows, so she was determined to win that quiz later. Of course, second place got a prize too. It was another plush, but this one was a white lamb, with big ears. It was massive, but Chloe wanted that frog. She had her sights set on it now.
Dressing in some comfy plaid pyjama pants and a baggy white tee, Chloe raced to the window as she heard Nico’s car pull up. She grinned from ear to ear when she saw Nia climb out the car, a sleepover bag slung over her shoulder and dressed in her own comfy clothes. She waved quickly before running to the front door and pulled it open. The summer holidays were just starting and Chloe was so excited that this was how it was starting.
As Nia approached the now open front door, Chloe squealed from excitement and immediately wrapped her arms around her best friend. “NIAAAA! Oh my gosh! It’s really you! In person! It’s you!” Chloe exclaimed happily as she then stepped back and allowed Nia to walk into Arizona’s house. “Come in! I have the best day planned.” Holding the door open for Nia, Chloe waited for her friend to come inside so that they could have the best day. She was so excited!
