Brianna Jade Castagnoli (/brie-ahh-nah/; née Calaway; born October 31, 1989) is an American professional wrestler and model currently signed to WWE performing on the SmackDown brand under the ring name Black Angel Calaway began her training at the age of fifteen. She is a second generation wrestler, being the daughter of The Undertaker In her WWE career, Calaway is a 4x Divas Champion, and a 1x SmackDown Women's Champion. Calaway signed a developmental contract for FCW in 2011, and she made her debut on the SmackDown brand in 2012. She is also an avid fan of the band Disturbed, stating she had a crush on lead singer David Draiman when she was a teenager. She's also stated she had a crush on controversial musician, Marilyn Manson. As well as having a crush on musician and film director, Rob Zombie Shortly after signing to FCW in 2011, she met Claudio Castagnoli, better known by his ring name, Cesaro. The pair revealed that they were a couple in January of 2012, three months after they had actually begun dating. The couple have stated that when they first met, it was "love at first sight" and that they each knew that they were "The One" for each other. Calaway has stated on the Talk Is Jericho and Stone Cold podcasts... "I was training with [Emily] when one of the trainers came up to us. He said he wanted to introduce the newest trainee. The second I laid [my eyes] upon him...it was as if time itself stood still. I heard all about stories of couples meeting and it being love at first sight. I never thought that I would ever experience it, but, I definitely did with [Claudio]. I knew in my heart I needed to have him all to myself. Something about [Claudio] drew me to him...I still don't know what it was to this day! It took some convincing by [Emily] for me to go over and say hello...and, boy, am I glad I grew a set. He never once judged me for how I looked. He still doesn't. He is my perfect match. I cannot picture myself being with anyone else but [him]. He is my soulmate" In 2012, Calaway had gotten into a verbal and physical dispute backstage with then WWE Diva, Aksana. Calaway had learned that Aksana had been trying to steal Castagnoli away from her, due to her and Castagnoli being an on-screen pairing at the time. This was revealed when Calaway caught Aksana trying to seduce Castagnoli by kissing and groping him, as well as hearing her say "Come to my hotel room tonight, baby...I'll make you forget all about that stupid girlfriend of yours. You need to be with a real woman. Not some teenager who hasn't outgrown her goth phase..." This exchange caused Calaway to become enraged. Witnesses to the event saw Calaway storm over to where the two were standing, as well as hearing her refer to Aksana as a "disgusting, cheap whore" and that "my man has taste. He wouldn't be caught dead with an STD infested tramp like you!" before punching Aksana in the face. The altercation caused Aksana to cry. Aksana was punished for her unwanted touching by being ordered to stay away from both Castagnoli and Calaway, which is what ended the on-screen pairing. Calaway was forced to apologize to her. When asked about the incident on the Talk Is Jericho and Stone Cold Podcasts, she has stated... "My apology was forced out of me. It never has been and never will be sincere. [Aksana] knew good and well that Claudio and I were a couple and she tried to steal my husband away from me. I'll admit...I was jealous seeing [my husband] kissing her, even though it was all on-screen bullshit. It still bothered me watching my man kiss such an awful woman. [Aksana] was upset he was crawling into bed with me and not her. And she had it in her head that she could steal him from me. Did I overreact? Probably. Do I care? Not really. No matter what gender you are, don't be an asshole and try to come between someone's relationship. She even tried to backtrack saying that I was misunderstanding what was going on and that it was all for show. She claimed that they were "practicing." I knew she was lying. I'm not stupid!" On May 24th, 2014, during a stop in Berlin, Germany for WWE's European Tour, Castagnoli proposed to Calaway in the middle of the ring during a live event. The proposal was set up to look like Castagnoli was about to break up with Calaway, via orders of then manager, Paul Heyman. Before Castagnoli proposed, he said to Calaway that he "didn't want to be her boyfriend anymore." The words caused Calaway to cry, since she did not know she was being proposed to at the time. As Calaway went to leave the ring, Castagnoli stopped her and said that he "wasn't finished" his statement. After Calaway had turned to face him once more, Castagnoli said that he now wished to be Calaway's husband, before getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him in all of the five languages that he is fluent in, to which Calaway tearfully and gleefully accepted. Videos and photos of the proposal were posted to WWE.com, YouTube, and the couple's respective social media accounts. The couple married on December 27th, 2016 in Orlando, Florida, the day of Castagnoli's 36th birthday On March 5th, 2018, Calaway posted to Twitter and Instagram that she and Castagnoli were expecting their first child together, due in August. She also added that the pregnancy was the cause of the health issues she had been having, which included the backstage fainting spell she had experienced during the Elimination Chamber event. On March 26th, 2018, the couple announced that they were expecting a baby girl, whom they plan on naming Claudia Antonia, which is the feminization of Castagnoli's full name. Brianna took a deep breath as she walked out of the Florida Championship Wrestling women's locker room for yet another day of training. This was it. This is what the young Texan woman had dreamed of ever since she was a young girl. The day that she would set foot in a ring and make a name for herself the way that her father did back on that day in November of 1990. She knew she had big boots to fill given her name, but, she knew in her heart that this was her calling. Like many other second and third generation Superstars, it was her mission to carry out a legacy, and she was ready for the whole world to know her name... Brianna Jade Calaway was born on October 31st, 1992 in Austin, Texas. And, if that last name sounds familiar to you? Then, you probably know who her famous father is. Brianna's father has gone by many names and nicknames in his career, the most notable being The Phenom, The Demon of Death Valley, and The Deadman. Do those nicknames sound familiar? Well, they should. Because, Brianna is the oldest daughters of one of the most legendary men to have ever set foot in a WWE ring... Brianna is the daughter of The Undertaker Brianna was one of the two children that Undertaker, real name Mark William Calaway, had with Jodi, his first wife. She was the oldest of the five children he had throughout his three marriages. Mark, unfortunately, was unable to be with Jodi on the day that Brianna was born, due to him being on the road with the company. Regardless of that, Mark treasured his daughter more than anything in the entire world. From the very beginning, Brianna looked up to her father like he was some kind of superhero. And, unlike her classmates and friends, she wasn't intimidated or terrified of the character he played when he was in the ring and in front of the cameras. She knew even at a young age that The Undertaker was nothing more than just a character that her father would play, much like an actor in a movie or television program. She was always mesmerized whenever she watched her father wrestle, whether she was sitting at home watching him on television or she was out in the crowd at a show or a pay per view event. And when Brianna had turned nine years old, she had made the decision that she wanted to be a wrestler, just like her Daddy. Mark, though, was extremely apprehensive at his daughter's decision. It wasn't because he thought she wasn't cut out to be a wrestler, though. It was nothing like that at all. He was apprehensive because he knew firsthand how hard professional wrestling is on the body. The last thing that Mark wanted was for his baby girl to suffer a horrific injury. That, or have her suffer the same tragic fate that had befallen Owen Hart. It wasn't until Brianna had turned fifteen that Mark had decided it was time to put his emotions aside and allow his daughter to travel with him so that she could not only get a feel of what it was like on the road, but, to also train with him. Brianna was ecstatic when she heard the news, and, little did she know...it was through wrestling that she would finally meet the man of her dreams Brianna had no idea that there was a new signee who was starting on that day in September of 2011. She had planned on spending her day training with Emily Jacobs, the daughter of Kane and one of her closest friends in the wrestling world. She was in the middle of her training session when a man that Brianna had never seen before walked in with one of the trainers, since it was his first day in FCW. The trainer asked the girls if he could interrupt them for a little bit so that he could introduce them to the newest member of FCW, to which the girls said sure. It was revealed that the man's name was Claudio Castagnoli, but, he would be known professionally as Antonio Cesaro. Emily was the first of the two to give Claudio a warm welcome, because, Brianna at that moment couldn't utter a single sound. From the second that her eyes laid upon Claudio...she was instantly smitten. She didn't know what it was at the time, but...something about him made her feel instantly attracted to him. Shit. She had always heard stories from others about how they met someone and it was love at first sight, and Brianna never thought she would ever experience a feeling like that, given the douchebags she had dated all throughout high school. It wasn't until she felt Emily nudging her arm that she realized that she had spaced out, and she muttered "Welcome" before the trainer had walked away to continue giving Claudio the grand tour. And, of course, Emily laughed at her friend and immediately called her out for having a crush on the new guy. Brianna knew there was absolutely no way she could lie herself out of that situation, and she confessed right then and there that she thought that Claudio was the most beautiful man she had ever seen in her entire life. She just didn't know how to approach him, let alone know if he was even single or not. It did take some convincing from Emily, but...eventually, Brianna plucked up the courage to go and ask Claudio if he would like to spend the day training with her. And, to her surprise, he agreed, saying that he was a very big fan of her father's and that it would be an absolute honour to train with her. Score! Brianna couldn't deny the fact that she was nervous being around Claudio at first, but, she started to feel more at ease as the day went on. With the way that those two were laughing and carrying on, you would have thought that they had known each other for years. Brianna had to fight back her temptation at one point when she had pinned Claudio beneath him, because, it was in that moment that she had felt a strong and sudden urge to kiss him. The last thing she wanted was to do or say something stupid and risk losing whatever chance she thought she had with Claudio. But, somehow, she managed to land a chance with him, because he had invited her out for coffee after they were finished training. Brianna gladly accepted, and, that date was the start of an extremely close friendship that had eventually blossomed into romance The pair had chosen to keep their relationship private for the first three months, mostly because they were afraid of the reactions they might get from fans, talent, and corporate. But, to their surprise, the reaction they had received when they finally became public about their relationship was positive. Sure, there were some negative reactions, but, the positive outweighed the negative. All that mattered in that moment was their happiness, and their happiness alone. And to this day, Brianna was thankful for Emily giving her that push she so desperately needed. Because in those years, she had gone from being known as Brianna Jade Calaway, to Brianna Jade Castagnoli, and she was expecting a beautiful baby in August.
