just was thinking about how I feel about being “born in the wrong body.” i was given a body of clay and hands to mold it. i was given the tools to create and remake and change and grow. i am who i am not because of the canvas but the art of the future scars on my chest and the for-now grooves in my shoulder after the binder comes off.

it’s been pierced and painted and tattooed and freckled in the sun. it’s bled and been stitched up. it’s been lined by smiles. it’s had broken bones that healed under casts signed by people whose names i can’t remember.

i guess what im trying to say is that my body is more than just its factory settings. it’s been harassed and hurt and shamed. but it’s also been strengthened and loved and made into art. it’s me and it’s mine.
