If a worker who isn't the owner says ANYTHING similar to "I'm not really supposed to do this but-" and then does something that helps you, under no circumstances inform the business, including through reviews. You tell them that the worker was polite, professional, the very model of customer service and why you like to go there. You do not breathe a word of the rulebreaking.
240419 ~ Dick Sand, A Captain at Fifteen by Jules Verne
As I've mentioned, I'm on a sick leave so I have a lot of spare time which I dedicate to reading! The book I've finished today is Dick Sand, A Captain at Fifteen by Jules Verne.
It was a random pick from my bookshelf because I had no idea what to read next.
What impressed me?
• Verne's knowledge in different fields of science and crafts. There were names of all parts of a ship in detail, entomology (even though the editor had to point out that those facts were already outdated) and deep understanding of geography and customs of African people. To write that the way it is, a great study was supposed to be completed.
• The plot was quite dynamic. Everytime something terrible happens! But, luckily, only two of the characters didn't make it till the end.
• Hercules! He's such a charming man that he's become my favourite character. I was happy to see him play an important part in the plot.
What would I call a disadvantage?
• Sometimes historical and scientific facts took the whole chapter. But in particular, I was a bit disappointed with only one of them about researches which didn't affect the plot. Well, it could've been there to make you fully understand the real circumstances the characters were in... But my head was fuzzy after reading so many dates and facts.
• Some parts of the book were written in a rather naïve manner. If not for the violent scenes, I'd think it was for children.
All in all, it was a nice book with an important message. All the time I kept thinking what age it was supposed to be for. Teenagers would love it a lot, in my opinion! Even though it was violent, it's important to discuss cruel deeds and why they're not okay with the next generations.
“If you have time to watch Netflix you have time for a side hustle” my side hustle is relaxing so that my body and brain can heal from by this nose-to-the-grindstone bullshit. I refuse to feel guilty for being a human with the need to relax sometimes. my side hustle is no.
