a short and not so sweet starter for @tizirisadaoui
For Jade, the ultimate thrill was being on the field, playing the sport she loved most in life. Used to be, at least. These days, it was one of life's biggest pains - not being able to do what she loved to her fullest ability, knowing she'd ruin her knee beyond repair otherwise. Regardless she loved working out and it was easy to avoid the problem spot, or do less strenuous exercises. The chest press was a big favorite - an easy way to work on her upper body muscles. Unfortunately for Jade in the present moment, there was a familiar face using one of the machines that she could've gone without seeing, ignoring the fact their bickering was the most alive she felt mentally outside work in a long time. Making the best of the situation, she wasn't going to let the tension stop her and sat down beside the other woman. Loose and relaxed, she plastered on a half-cocked grin. "Hey baby girl," Jade cooed out like she would a lover, checking the weights on both sides. "Pick any fights lately?"

Jade had to resist the urge to roll her eyes and chide him further, be a smarmy asshole type - well more of one, lest she give herself a bad name. "I hated running at first too," she snorted at the thought since that was forever ago, "Granted, I was... five." Poking fun at his habits, she could only hope some of her advice would reach him, sooner or later. In her own way, she quite liked him, though one would think otherwise based on how they interacted. Almost always bickering. "Not everyone gotta be a green goddess green juice kinda girly," she mimicked his voice the best she could. "Just don't be having McDs and junk food on the daily. I do like a dessert or two once a while. Balances it out nicely." Raising an eyebrow, she had to take in a deep breath. "Oh Ashy boy, you don't even wanna get me started 'cuz my sweet, I could go on all. damn. day. But I'm gonna be nice this once..."
Tumblr media
"That's exactly right, poor fucking me," Asher complained before pushing his plate a little closer to Jade, as if to make an offering to her. "Vitamin A, B or C, either way - I didn't like it," he mumbled. Growing up on pasta with ketchup for dinner would do that to a guy but aside from that, who could afford this kind of thing several times a week? Not Asher, that was for sure. He sighed when Jade went on about the benefits of a nutritious meal before tilting his head. "Look...the juice I got was fine, I guess?" He offered, as if he owed her an excuse for his choices. "Not everyone can be a green goddess, green juice kinda girly, J. And clearly, that's not the vibe for me. But hey, if you got any pointers for my vitamin intake - shoot." Not that Asher cared much about what went into his body but ultimately, it was the thought that counted, right?

a short n sweet starter for @esmeraykj
"l truly admire how brave you are," Jade greeted as if she knew this woman wholeheartedly, sitting down on the chair opposite her. Her tone was dry, non-chalant, nearly impossible to read whether she was serious or sarcastic. "For coming here with paint in your hair."

"You poor thing," Jade chided, grabbing a fork from beside her salad and taking out a small piece of the sweet potato. Smacking her lips after she was done chewing, though it was quick, she stared at him, almost perplexed. "No idea what on God's green earth you mean. That was delicious. It could use a tad more flavor, but it's packed with a ridiculous amount of Vitamin A... which is great for your eyes, and potassium which is good for your achy muscles. Need I go on...?" She asked with a sickeningly sweet smile, knowing the question was rhetorical. A social creature, she wanted to fill her battery - Asher was no exception, though she enjoyed annoying him a bit too much.
Tumblr media
"'sup, hot stuff?" Asher grinned, teeth flashing in an exaggerated manner as he leaned back. He was using his fork to poke at a piece of steamed sweet potato - or squash - whatever it was, clearly not all that into it and frankly, craving a burger from the Crashdown Café instead. He might've been a grown man after all but would always have a child's palate. Pulling a face, he put his cutlery down, tilting his head at Jade. "What can I say, I'm a growing boy - gotta get my greens in," he mocked but ultimately, couldn't hide the roll of his eyes. "Seriously though...why do people pay so much fucking money for a bite of what tastes like dirt?"

This wasn't per the norm for Jade - she couldn't remember the last time she had been to a laundromat. But as it was, her washer was on the fritz, and the new one wasn't going to be delivered until next week. For her clothes to stay dirty that long was, quite frankly, unacceptable - considering how much she liked to work out, and she wasn't interested in her house smelling like sweat. Walking past the group of teenager boys, she eyed them with suspicion and let out a scoff that told them she was not impressed in the slightest. Setting down her basket of gym clothes, she turned her attention to the attendant. "Thankfully for you, good sir, I know one of them idiots. His mama lives on my street, so I can take a minute outta my day and pay her a visit. She may be real interested in finding out what her son's been up to..."
Tumblr media
OPEN – lunar laundromat
"hey! HEY! don't make me tap the sign!" nate shouted after a group of teenagers huddled by the detergent dispenser. they were loading it full of quarters, taking pod after pod to put into a machine with no clothes. it was clear they were trying to fill the entire laundromat with soap suds and break one of the washers, that was already on the fritz, in the process. when the teens turned their attention to the attendant, he did tap the sign hanging on the front of the desk he was sitting behind. it read one detergent pod per washer. they stopped their giggling and dropped their handfuls of pods before they ran towards the door. "damn..." he came out from behind the counter to pick up the dropped detergent. "if they were really thinking the prank through, they would have just bought a whole box of tide pods and brought them in. maybe i wouldn't have noticed them using so many pods then. it was kind of hard not to notice them spending fifteen minutes in front of the dispenser for no reason."

More than anything Jade was amused by this... attitude thrown her way - but that didn't mean she was going to take it laying down and try to appease her. Clearly there was no point in trying to win Tirizi over and she doubted the other woman would be a fan of someone attempting to kiss her ass. If she had to take a guess, she was the kind of person who preferred people keeping it real with her. "Baby girl," Jade began with a grossly sweet smile that did not reach her eyes, tone dripping with Southern sarcasm. "I never doubted these stories. Not for a single fuckin' second. They were too consistent for them to be bullshit. A lot of them were from bitter assholes, but where there's smoke..." She clicked her tongue. "Someone must've gotten a hardon of all hardons for you 'cause you don't have a single ounce of acting talent to warrant the roles you got." Shoulders straight, neck elongated, hip jutted out, she was in her element. She crafted a long explanation in her head of how PR worked since it wasn't just about presenting someone as more 'palatable' - but she figured it would fall on Deaf ears. "Fun certainly is your middle name, isn't it?" She asked rhetorically. "So I have this phone here, right?" Pulling out her work iPhone for good measure, she brandished it momentarily. "I can do ninety percent of my job on this and hop on the computer for the heavy duty stuff. It's almost insulting that you think I don't know there aren't any famous people in Roswell? No fuckin' shit, Sherlock. I'm here, because why the fuck not?" Eyes scanning their surroundings, she took stock of people shooting glances down their way, some taking it all in. Nodding in affirmation, she shook her head, almost in disbelief. "Yeah. I know."

dcvilthoughts:
“Oh I’m Jade,” Jade introduced herself (though she rarely did so) and paused momentarily for dramatic flair. A bit of an asshole move, maybe, considering the circumstances. “We met in passing once or twice when I lived in Cali. I work in public relations so I’ve heard… stories,” she said ever so casually – people had reputations and where there was smoke, there was fire. “Most of ‘em were spoken with misogynistic lens so I hardly paid them mind.” A half-shrug given, bottom lip pushed upward. “Apparently,” she snorted audibly. “Truth be told I threw a dart at a map and landed on Bumfuck forty minutes away, but I’m a city gal through and through so I picked the next best thing.” Eyes scanned their surroundings, a few stares at the interaction. Whether it was her ranting, Tirizi’s celebrity status, or a mix of both, she wasn’t hard pressed to care - just simply aware (since her brain worked a million miles a minute and she couldn’t let herself relax), though accustomed to such a thing. “The ones up your ass for every little thing. These people.”
Tumblr media
There’s a look on her features that seems entirely unmoved by the introduction, a confidence in the way the woman presents herself states that Tiziri should know who she was whether they had met before or not, a piece of Hollywood that she didn’t exactly miss. Of course, it only makes her next statement make that much more sense, allowing rapid distaste to form for the practical stranger. “PR.” She shouldn’t judge too harshly, surely many a person who were fond of their work but Tiziri certainly wasn’t one of them, knowledge likely made clear from the very stories she had referenced. “Probably should have paid them some mind. This isn’t one of the those, meet the women behind the mask moments, I’m afraid. I’m every bit as much of a bitch as they painted me to be and you people are exhausting in trying to make someone present themselves as more palatable just because it might mean a fatter check.” After all, the number of people she’d had removed from her team or that had removed themselves due to a refusal to follow her desires was likely longer than a CVS receipt. “And why are we throwing darts at maps? Hardly seems the best way for you to find new clients. Best you’re gonna find out here is crazy Kenneth who swears he can read minds since his abduction in the nineties.” Dark hues follow the other woman’s own, prying eyes that she had noted but placed on a back burner lest something seemed to pose a threat, a skill she had gotten good at. “You know, you might draw less attention if you weren’t ranting about smoothies…in a smoothie shop.”

"Hey stud muffin," Jade began with a sickeningly-sweet smile, slurping her newly-bought smoothie. An insult of endearment, she liked to call it, considering he was not her type. "I think I see a vegetable in whatever the fuck it is you're eating, and I got to say, I'm so proud."

"Fuck, baby girl, you should've seen the look on the new guy's face," Jade snorted at the memory, taking a sip from her honey bourbon drink. This was as relaxing as it got for Jade - a woman always on the go, never able to sit still. "The ax landed right in the God-damn center and even better, I threw it backwards, so he had to give me double. It was fuckin' great. His friends were dying from laughter and even video'ed the whole thing."

"So apparently, some snot-nosed rag forgot his cake pops after he left in a huff that he only got three pumps of espresso instead of four. Fuck if I know," Jade said with a half-shrug, holding out the delicacy like they were completely foreign for the other woman to take. "Those look as sweet as you, so... if you could take them, that'd be fuckin' grand. I don't really eat, uh... this."

"So," Jade began, bringing an intricately folded piece of paper from the pocket of her Giants hoodie and carefully placed it in front of her, slowly unfolding. "You look bored out of your skull. Though Jade was employed by a public relations conglomerate with a primary focus on athletes, she was allowed to pursue clients independently and sign them on her own accord, provided she (and the company) were paid handsomely. She wasn't a big fan of having to work within the company's stringent rules so often enough she'd skirt them to her advantage. Having done her own fair share of research, she wasn't a hundred percent sold on pursuing the international soccer team as a client, but took the lunch as a courtesy. And well, getting to know a beautiful, competent woman was a big win in her book. Minds could be changed including her own -- she loved a good back and forth.
"It's a pleasure," Jade greeted, figuring she needed no introduction since she had been sought. "If I wasn't interested, I wouldn't be here," she said simply while loosening the scarf around her neck in anticipation of going inside. "After you."

Closed – @dcvilthoughts Concept – A new business opportunity pitch.
A mutual friend of hers had told Blair all about Jade. How brilliant and challenging she was to push the narrative when it came to womens sports, specifically soccer. The rave review sparked some curiosity for Blair and asked that they be introduced. Her grandmother’s current beau, Thomas owned a B-league women’s soccer team back in England and was looking for the opportunity to catapult them into mainstream popularity. Granted, it was a hard wall to break down, but he was determined to get it done. Except, he had no clue where to start.
“Hi Jade! I’m Blair,” she smiled, extending her hand to the other as they approached outside the shop. “It’s so nice to meet you! I’ve heard great things. Still interested in grabbing a bite?”

Christ on a bicycle. A run without seeing anything out of the ordinary just... was not happening. Jade should've figured with this town, full of interesting citizens that didn't behave in expected ways. She liked being able to predict people's behavior, but - these days it was increasingly hard. Someone ever so casually laying on the ground, not a care in the world certainly had her attention. "The fuck you doing?" She questioned, almost demanding, though she was mostly confused at the way this woman simply didn't give a fuck. "I'll give you that one, but woman, you gotta go about this in a much safer way."

The evening felt like the first time in months that the weather had been decent, temperatures just above twenty degrees even after the sun had fallen, no snow or clouds to put a damper on the day or her mental state. What Meilani had deemed decent weather was perhaps still not enough to excuse her current position, lying on the cold ground and staring up at the night sky. It was late enough that she didn’t think anyone would spot her, let alone consider what their thoughts would be if they did — it’s only with the sound of approaching footsteps and a note of concern in their voice that she allows her head to roll in their direction, allowing them to properly see that she was at least alive, if not well. “I promise you don’t need to call anyone.” It was a questionable reassurance at best, the girl still not making much effort to move, gaze lifting back to the space above her. “The sky just hasn’t been this clear in a while.”

Dressed in business-casual chic clothing, Jade looked a little out of place at Tripp's - and by a little, it was a lot. But regardless she walked around as if she owned the place, swaying with confidence. It was meant to be a quick errand, dropping off excess vegetables from her garden to a food truck owner. Jade raised a casual eyebrow in response to the question thrown her way - pondering why the hell this woman was trying to get her attention. "That depends," she began, one foot in front of the other, assessing the situation. Mostly whether there was anything of value inside. "Is this car actually yours?" She questioned, curiosity piqued, "And what beer we talking about?."

The LeBaron was running – which was occasionally a feat in and of itself. The problem with the fact that the LeBaron was running was that the doors were locked, and Julia was outside of it, palms pressed to the driver's side window like a Dickensian orphan. Her forlorn gaze was interrupted by the sound of whatever poor soul had the misfortunate to be in the vicinity, and she let out a hopefully sigh before turning. "Hey! Do you have a wire hanger or something? I'm desperate dude, I'll pay. Not well, but there's at least two beers in the fridge inside with your name on it if you can get this car open without busting out a window."

Staying on top of trends and who was hot (and not hot) was part of the job, lest she be unfamiliar with a future client, signed or not. Naturally Jade knew exactly who Imogen Simon was, but celebrities hardly fazed her these days (unless they were in the NWSL then she'd likely geek out), and it was better to treat everyone as a friend, status or not. Granted it had been a hot minute since the other woman had done the show, so she wasn't as relevant but it certainly wouldn't hurt, nonetheless.
"Trust me, bud... I know," Jade said with an overly dramatic sigh, resigned to that fact. She gave herself a budget, factored in the costs of ingredients, and came up with an approximate total for her meals and snacks, including drinks and desserts. It was the organizer inside her - she'd have to do some slight adjusting, but nothing she couldn't manage. "First issue is that I'm out and about and want it uh, right now. Second issue, I need to visit the farmer's market tomorrow and stock up on everything for the week." Nodding and humming contently as she drank from her smoothie, she raised out her cup at the same time she excitedly squealed out "A-fuckin-men." Fingers tapping the table, she continued. "All of that is exactly why I bought it from there, and though I'm kinda, uh, grumbling about the price, I'm happy to pay for these reasons."
Tumblr media
“I mean you could have probably just made it at home. It would have cost you the same amount, but the bonus is that you’d have extra servings for another day,” Gen points out before she takes a bite from her pitaya smoothie bowl. Situated at a table in the town’s food court, she was reading a newsletter on her iPad when she heard how irate the raven-haired woman was about the cost of goods she just purchased. Granted, Imogen had always been well off, the price of consuming anything never truly jarred her. She was a multimillionaire by the time she was eighteen.
That was all associated with the show, merchandising, and all the sponsorships that came with the name ‘Isaac and Imogen Simon.’ Therefore she never had to think twice about how much things cost her which she knew was a blessing. In the same token, Imogen was one who lived an average life, never one being hypnotized by excessive wealth and riches. In all her years the most expensive entree she ever had was probably $85 and she wasn’t even the one covering the tab. “I heard everything is farm to table, so you’re getting the purest and ripest fruits. Pesticides free. That’s why it cost $10.”

dcvilthoughts:
“Tiziri.” The name rolled off her tongue easily despite only having seen the other woman in passing, familiarity in her tone. Jade would be amiss not to know the MMA fighter turned action star due to the nature of her work. Athletes were her bread and butter since that was her preference but her agency’s clientele spread far and wide. She couldn’t help but let out an audible snort. “I lived in L.A. for four years. Trust me, babe. I know. It was the worst four years of my life.” A slight exaggeration – she hailed from Tampa, afterall – and though she realized as much as she enjoyed the hustle and bustle of a big city, she wanted the chance to escape to nature within a stone’s throw when the mood struck. “I’ve been to my fair share of cute little places like this one. Most of the time the price is bullshit for the quality. One and done. But this is not one and done.” Another sip of the smoothie was taken, a small content hum after she was done. “So I’m mad because I’m going to keep coming back and be a thorn on their side. I avoid these people at all costs.”
Tumblr media
It wasn’t even that the other knew her name without introduction so much as the way it sounded coming from her lips that alerted Tiziri to the fact that she was found out. Not a surprise, so much as a concern, unknowing what reaction she was meant to expect. “Sorry. Do we know each other?” Not intended perhaps as asinine as it may come across, the damage done to her brain leading to lapses in memory that it made very possible she was forgetting the female standing before her. Unfortunately, it was also equally within reason that such was not the case and her face was merely one the other had come to recognize. A game of mystery that Tiziri wasn’t exactly fond of playing. “And you find Roswell to be the better option?” A daring question considering that, she too, was standing here currently. A second voice added to the chorus of those speaking her name, though this came more as a gentle question from the worker behind her, allowing the dark haired woman to turn and gather her own drink with a nod of thanks. “These people?”
