“I warned you before,” he said in a low voice. “That I’m a greedy businessman.”
He had never had so many emotions course through him at the same time. Like a pile of bricks crumbling to the ground, he felt like he was coming undone. He had been suppressing himself around her for too long, trying to play by her rules. He suddenly felt exhausted from it all, completely destroyed by the simple fact that she could so easily meet a man for a lunch date, that too right next to her office building. Why had she never asked it of him? Did she think he only had physical desires, nothing more? And why was he the one who had to hide in a parking lot? Was it that shameful, to be seen with him?
He was a man who always went after what he wanted ruthlessly, with laser focus. It wasn’t in his nature to hold back. He had made exceptions for her, worrying about stepping out of turn, going too far, losing her too soon.
But he felt like he had lost her already. And so, he decided to say his piece.
After all, when a man had nothing to lose, he became invincible.
He would know. It was the curse of his life. No matter how much wealth he accumulated, no matter how much power he might wield, looks like he would always just have nothing.

After spending almost two days successfully not thinking of him, she then spent the rest of Friday night tossing and turning in bed as she remembered all the things they had done to each other, wishing he was with her.
She wondered if he was fast asleep, or staring up at the ceiling, which he said was normal for him on most nights. She wondered if he was still at Eclipse, as Friday nights were usually busy for him. She wondered if he was thinking of her.
She didn’t want to wonder, if he was with someone else.

Eps 14. Script. (Deleted scene)
(A/N: Eps 14 is MY's eps. This eps made me cry watching them cry and I'm crying again reading the script.)
...
MY sits by the door buried in sorrow. Knowing everything... She recalls KT's behaviour, when he was dealing with it on his own.
(FB.: "I'm not late, am I?" .. KT coming in his suit, taking the family photo, smiling as the camera clicks!)
MY: (when she thinks about the suffering he had been through, yet still coming with a smile on his face, it breaks her heart and she bursts into fresh tears)
(FB: "Protecting my family.. is a cool thing to do. No matter what, I will protect my family.")
MY: How... How could you say that... How could I be part of that family.. How could I.. (A/N: She loves him so much.. ㅠㅠ)
(FB: "Even if the butterfly appears.. Don't kill it. You mustn't.")
MY continues to cry, blaming herself as she thinks of KT's suffering and pain.
KT listens to her cries from her door. He wants to rush in and hold her in his arms.. But he can't, not now.. and so he just sits and leans his head against her door.
The sound of her cries makes him plead out desperately.
KT: Don't cry.. Please.. Don't cry.. (as warm tears stream down his own face) (A/N: He loves her so much.. ㅠㅠ)
...
I did not expect this.
I thought she felt devastated that her mom had killed the boys' mom and that they had suffered all this time because of that, and that she was going to lose her new family.
But it was more than that. It was because she was so deeply in love with KT.
It was thinking of HIS sorrows that was making her cry. She felt sorry for how he had dealt with it all himself, putting on a brave face taking that picture. It broke her to imagine the pain he must have felt telling the daughter of his mom's murderer that she was part of the family he vowed to protect.
Above all, it killed her to think that he would have to go back to suppressing himself around her. It was that he had chosen to endure all of that knowledge himself and hid it from her.
I wish this scene had been kept because the specific flashbacks showed how much it matters to her that KT could be himself around her. She did explain it to him when she insisted the brothers leave her in the next episode, but I felt this scene would have strengthened her reasons.
She wanted him to be happy with her but how could he be if she would only remind him of his mother's killer? Could he really love her? He would return to pretending, which she couldn't live with, especially if it was for her sake. So she had to let him go.

Thank you so so much, I honestly don't know what I deserved to get such a wonderful response from you all. 2020 was mostly shit but this fandom for me was a major highlight.
Also -- about beach read, I actually did read that book and I can see why you suggested it! MY and GT both with writers block, bickering over the fence and trying each other's genres out ... it would totally work! I feel full to the brim with It Was Fascination and occasional updates to I'm Hungry... But maybe one day hehe. Thanks again for the message ❤️

It Was Fascination Chapter 19: Siren
The shyness that threatened to make an appearance felt ridiculously late and misplaced after all that he had seen of her and done to her. But it wasn’t shyness that bloomed from their physical intimacy, she knew enough about herself to know that much.
It was a hesitation born from the awareness of lines becoming blurred between want and need.
He said nothing, choosing to just hold her, while these thoughts swam in her head. Greedy businessman, she thought, why aren’t you making an appearance yet?
She felt uncomfortable in this sense of comfort, in the quietness of the night, sated and nestled in his arms. Surely, it was all misleading.
