healing touch ノ wriothesley
ꕤ ₊ ˙ ⊹ . requested by @euthymiya ノ thank you kindly for this prompt and i hope it will be to your liking ♡ though i could probably write more and more about this specific scenario :3
ৎ୭ ₊ ˙ ⊹ . 0.6k ノ gn reader — detailed descriptions of blood and wounded hands ノ taking care of his injuries . kissing his knuckles after a fight
it’s not the first time you see wriothesley losing his temper against an extremely violent prisoner who got out of control and injured two other guards before cursing at the duke himself, unknowingly bringing him over the boiling point.
to say that you weren’t afraid would be a lie. after all, witnessing a fistfight between two large men always stirs the primal instinct to flee and to hide. it’s hard to imagine that a person so gentle, so lighthearted, enjoying tea on every occasion, can also be such a brute — or, at least, he used to be. his sad expression only tells how angry he is that the situation escalated to violence and couldn’t be resolved in any other way.
his breath comes out shallow, and you catch yourself worrying if he might dislocate his knuckles; he struggles to uncurl his fingers. every little bone feels like experiencing an earthquake, but he is thankful that the worst has passed, and before him is the most pleasant part — being taken care of by you.
a thick glob of dark crimson liquid dribbles down the shaking fist, threatening to fall but so sticky it clings to maltreated skin, keeping the wounds from opening further.
you swallow hard at the sight, trying not to panic, but the metallic scent has already clasped its claws around your head.
wriothesley exhales heavily when your hands touch his, already with a gauze dampened with a salve to reduce swelling and irritation. how amazing it is that even though the roles were reversed so many times, from the one who needs aid to the one who provides it, there was always the same calmness between the two of you.
“did i scare you?”
“a little.” you reply fast, focused on cleaning the blood. it’s serious this time, and you doubt your help will have any effects without sigewinne’s support.
despite his belief that he doesn’t deserve such kindness, that he can do it all by himself, and that he shouldn’t let you treat his wounds or kiss them better, he is far too tired and far too pleased to have your fingers rubbing his knuckles gently and placing soft pecks around the damaged skin.
his cheeks glow in a lovely red hue when your lips quickly find the back of his hand, right after clearing the spot with clean water. the feeling of his heart skipping a beat will always be so alien to him — someone who went through so much and saw things no one should witness, now struggling to contain butterflies in his stomach.
“i’m sorry you had to see this. i’m not proud of it.” wriothesley stares down at his trembling fists and how they reappear from under the dark coat of slick when you carefully remove the dirty layer and wrap them in a temporary bandage.
“it would only get worse if you hadn’t stopped him.”
you pull his sleeves back down and finally feel the stress leaving your tense muscles, nerves throbbing at the drying blood splattered across the cold floor. your thumbs slide over his reddened skin to smooth the bandages. it would hurt like hell to clench a fist for a while, but it’s all better now. especially after seeing you place an affectionate kiss on the wounds, careful not to cause a sting of touch to penetrate the soft gauze.
“there, all good now.”
and it’s true. as long as he is with you, nothing bad can happen.

Wind Breaker characters have a theme to their names, a thread, part 3:
we will discuss Noroshi, a group that appears later in the manga, so, spoilers under the divide, click with discretion!
(part 1: Bōfūrin and part 2: Shishitoren)
Noroshi / 烽
the group antithesis to Bōfūrin is aptly named signal fire. with a fire radical / 火字旁, their name easily invokes the fire imagery that Endō frequently quotes
as we have established, Bōfūrin is associated with trees/plants, so it is unsurprising that a group that broke from them and wants to destroy their ideals would want to set fire to them
interestingly enough, the leader of noroshi and his second-in-command (and biggest fan) have both wood and fire in their last names:
焚石 矢 • Takiishi Chika: 焚 / to burn (with fire)
the kanji 焚 is literally made up of 林 (two wood/木 side by side, "forest/trees") on top and 火 ("fire") below it,, very straightforward
棪堂 哉真斗 • Endō Yamato: 棪 / (archaically) a red fruit of a tree that looks like crabapples
the kanji 棪 is made up of 木 (wood radical) and 炎 (two fire/火 stacked on top of each other, "flames"),, again, very straight(?)forward
other named members of noroshi:
they have elements of wood in their last names, likely a leftover from their previous association with Fūrin, but they are specifically wooden tools instead of living trees:
杓子 千宙 · Banjo Kanon: 杓 / wooden ladle
(he looks like scaramouche from genshin i say this and run tf away so fast)
樽味 清太郎 · Tarumi Seitaro: 樽 / wooden barrel (for alcohol/soy sauce, etc.)
(yup the same kanji 柱/Hashira that's used in Demon Slayer; also this is why i kept calling the hashiras "pillars" and had to explain myself when talking about KNY with my very confused English-speaking friends)
(he's weirdly Grease coded makes sense he has "comb" in his last name lmao)
that's what i got so far! hope you found this interesting. ty for reading if you got this far!!

Wind Breaker characters have a theme to their names, a thread, part 2:
(part 1: Bōfūrin!)
Shishitōren /
with a name that literally means "lion's head (legion)", you can find some sort of animal in each of shishitoren members' last names
(fun fact: his last name, if we break it down kanji by kanji, is "rabbit" "ear" "mountain")
(fun fact: his last name, kanji by kanji, is "ten tortoises")
basically Jō and Chōji are literally the tortoise and the hare of wind breaker.. cute
(next part: part 3 (manga spoilers) - noroshi!)

I will forever appreciate a theme in my fictional stories, & that’s exactly what Wind Breaker (by Nii Satoru) has, so, I present:
Wind Breaker characters have a theme to their names.. a thread:
Bōfūrin /
so, even though our protag group’s name is written and visually represented as “wind chime”, Bōfūrin’s name is where this group’s theme of trees/plants start:
防風鈴 (“prevent/protect” “wind chime”) has the same reading as 防風林, a type of forest planted strategically to prevent wind erosion of soil — much like Fūrin’s mission of protecting and serving their town
all of Bōfūrin’s named members (and close associations) so far have some element of tree/plant/wood in their last name (if you look at the kanji of their last names, you’d see a lot of wood radicals/木字旁):
桜 遥 • Sakura Haruka: 桜 / cherry tree
(fun fact: his name 遥 / haruka means "far"; also it's commonly a feminine given name)
蘇枋 隼飛 • Suō Hayato: 枋 / sandalwood (?) or tree used as timber, general term for wooden beams in houses
(fun fact: his last name 苏枋 is the Chinese name of a traditional reddish brown color, named after a pigment made from 苏木!)
(fun fact: his name 登馬 means "to mount a horse"; no, not that kind of mount, the regular horseback riding kind)
(fun fact: his name 一 is just "one")
This association also extends to Kotoha, who is very closely associated with Bōfūrin:
橘 琴叶 • Tachibana Kotoha: 橘 / orange tree
now, Bōfūrin members yet to be featured in the show:
(spoilers below the break)
(if you want to go to later parts: part 2 - shishitoren & part 3 - noroshi!)
梶 蓮 • Kaji Ren: 梶 / paper mulberry (broussonetia papyrifera)
(fun fact: his name 蓮 / Ren means "lotus")
(fun fact: their name 佑 means "to help/protect" or "to bless"!)
桐生 三輝 • Kiryū Mitsuki: 桐 / empress tree (paulownia tomentosa)
柘浦 大河 • Tsugeura Taiga: 柘 / mandarin melon berry (maclura tricuspidata)
There's also 桃瀬 匠 (Momose Takumi, "peach tree") & 水木 聡久 (Mizuki Saku, "wood"), the two other Heavenly Kings
I hope I have rly driven the point home here,, /lh
