Snippet for new Abigail 2024 WIP
Abigail watches from the locked cell as Frank paces back and forth, Joey leaning on the wall behind him. Her lips quirk upwards, a haughty laugh itching the inside of her chest, desperate to escape. She bites it down.
“So we’re stuck with a psychopathic vampire and no money?” Frank rants at the surviving members of his party, ignoring Joey and Sammy’s shared glances. “What kind of bullshit is this?”
A snort escapes Abigail’s lips. Frank glares right at her and she lets the words slip free. “Takes one to know one, isn’t that right?”
Frank snarls and aims his gun at the twelve year old girl, putting it down when Joey says his name in warning. “Shooting her will only piss her off and I’m rather enjoying our break right now.”
Abigail chimes in when Frank gives out a growl. “Yea, Frank. Don’t go psycho on us now.”
Sammy snorts at the comment before covering it with a cough at Frank and Joey’s glare.

I love how Papa Trotter keeps telling Nell she can stay conditionally, but keeps changing the terms. First it's a night in the barn with the donkey, then she can stay indefinitely provided she wears a dress, and then we see her back to her normal clothes just before she leaves again. This is a man who cannot set boundaries for his daughters and I love it.

I love how Papa Trotter keeps telling Nell she can stay conditionally, but keeps changing the terms.
