Newly rescued whumpees where caretaker doesn’t realise how much whumpee has been thru until they see whumpee get excited about normal every day things.
Caretaker being confused that whumpee is so happy to see grass, to sleep in a bed, to eat food that isn’t mouldy.
Whumpees being surprised and slightly apprehensive to all the ‘luxuries’ they are being given, not understanding what they have done to deserve them.

The bad rep "ladywhump" has in some circles is so baffling to me. Given that the whump community is an entire community about reading and writing bad things happening to characters and characters suffering, usually as a display of love to our favourite character and a desire to see our favourite character put into Situations, I refuse to see either erasing female characters from that narrative entirely or making female characters purely into careakers for the male character who's actually the focus and your favourite as A Win For Feminism, Actually.

Honestly I am just a sucker for former whumpees finding themselves slowly, unintentionally taking on more and more of the traits of their whumper...

Stockholm Syndrome + Whump
Becoming quiet when asked, sitting still, eating and speaking as told to
When Whumpee convinces themselves that they love Whumper and it's for the best
Whumpers who let their Whumpee do anything after begging
“Escape? From what? Everything I need is right here.”
Cooking, cleaning or fulfilling other tasks without being asked
When Whumper feeds into Whumpee’s delusion that they are fine
“You’re safe with me, right? Because you trust me.” “Of course I do.”
Caretaker who tries to explain to Whumpee that they aren’t safe but Whumper acts so innocent and gentle that it makes Caretaker look bad
Whumpees who deny they were kidnapped or forget that part completely
Not being able to remember how life was like without Whumper
“Please, I need you.” “Oh, goodness. I know you do, I know…”
Whumper telling Whumpee false stories and using those times as a reason to ask for favours
Purposely making Whumpee fall sick constantly just to revive them again and overtime Whumpee becomes reliant on them
“Sorry… for always… being a burden…” “You know only I care about you, Whumpee.”
Whumpee feeling more sympathetic for Whumper when they share their (probably fake) backstory with them to get an emotional reaction
Not being able to sleep without Whumper near them
“You’re acting unusual. Less… fighting, more submitting”
Holding, gripping or touching Whumper so they know they aren’t alone
When Whumpee’s Stockholm Syndrome is so bad it gives Whumper Lima Syndrome
Neither Whumpee or Whumper lookout for reports on the news anymore
“You don’t believe a word they say?” “Not even for a minute.” “You must really like my company then, huh?”
Waking up with nightmares of what happened in the past and then being unable to recall what it was about
Forcing Whumpee to become compliant on the notion that somebody else’s life is at risk
Whumpee faking Stockholm syndrome and feeling disgusted at everything they say or do
^^^ Whumper catching them faking it!
^^^ Instead of confronting them they just make Whumpee do a lot of things to humiliate them until they really do give in

I love whumpers who own pet whumpees for companionship.
I love whumpers who talk kindly to pet whumpee but in a way where they are using whumpee for conversation and never giving a thought to whumpee ever leaving them because they are their pet.
Whumpers/masters who come home and talk to whumpee without even acknowledging that they bought whumpee from an auction.
Whumpers/masters that don't acknowledge that whumpee had a previous life without them.
Whumpers/masters that are nice to whumpee but they don't treat them as someone who has thoughts and feelings that are equal to their own.
Whumpers/masters who never mention the outside world apart from their own personal interactions with people which is too vague and specific to give whumpee any information.
Whumpees who are treated well, given the food, water and clothing they need but are not free to leave or make any of their own choices.
The person treating them so well and never laying a finger on them is also holding them captive.

whumpee knows it wasn't their fault. they logically know that everything they went through was because of whumper. but it was also so hard to remember that some days when they felt like they were worthless. maybe they did deserve it.

Fact 1: In most versions of Dungeons & Dragons, when infected – as opposed to natural-born – lycanthropes transform under the full moon, they assume the default alignment of their type during the ensuing mindless rampage.
Fact 2: In most versions of Dungeons & Dragons, the default alignment of werebears is Lawful Good.
Conclusion: When an infected werebear transforms under the full moon, they go on a mindless Lawful Good rampage.

Whumpee refusing to let go of Caretaker, even with their own exhaustion and pain threatening to overwhelm them. They press themselves against Caretaker as hard as they can possibly manage.
“Please don’t leave me,” they plead. “Please, I can’t—I can’t do it. Please don’t go.”
Caretaker feels their heart ache.
“I’m not gonna leave you, honey…why would you think that?” Their voice drops. “Who left you?”

Answers to "it hurts"
I know (apologetically)
I know (condescendingly)
It's supposed to
Good
I'm sorry
It'll be over soon
Stop whining
And it'll get worse if you don't *insert threat*
Well it wouldn't have to if you didn't *insert mistake*
You're supposed to say 'thank you'
I love hearing you say that
This is nothing, I'll show you actual pain
Get used to it
You'll get used to it
Stop lying
At least you still feel it
Shut up
Why don't you beg me to stop, then?
Can't be that bad if you're still talking
I don't care
Did I ask?
It's the only way you'll learn
You can take it

"I just-" Whumpee's fingers curled into a fist. "I'm not broken, Caretaker."
"I know that, honey."
"I, I'm not." Tears slipped down their face. "I'm not broken. Right?"

Thinking about whumpees who are normally defiant.
Who spit at and throw insults at whumper.
Who occasionally slip their restraints and make a break for it, only to be caught and thrown back into a cell.
Who fight and kick, sometimes managing a blow at whumper.
Who bare their teeth in disgust every time whumper is near.
But then they’re given a drug, or sleep deprived, or made to be disoriented in some other way.
They blink up at whumper, a spark of recognition followed by as much of a glare as they can put on.
They weakly push away, barely able to lift their arms.
Just- tired and disoriented expressions, laced with defiance.
All the anger and frustration in the world, and they can’t stand up, can barely get to their knees.

cozy whump and comfort
The holidays are a stressful time and I'm thinking about cozy whump
The kind where the whumpee is trapped in such a comfortable gilded cage that they've long since stopped trying to get out, and may actively resist the rescuer trying to pull them free
The lab whumpee who is given tea and snacks and warm blankets to recover after a long day of experimentation
Whumpee lying in a hospital bed, floaty and out of it from drugs, but they don't feel pain any more, and they're being taken care of
The whumpee who was rescued from the snow being warmed by a fire and spoon fed hot soup
The witch's entranced assistant placing every one of the potion supplies just so on the shelf, satisfied that she's done a good job, before returning to her cupboard to rest
The recovering whumpee who gets to go shopping and pick out their own food and clothes for the first time in years
Alone and adrift on a spaceship, little hope of rescue, but the oxygen should hold out for a few weeks more and the whumpee has plenty of books to read

gah there's just something so good about dictator villains capturing the rebel leader who's been giving subjugated people hope and just... breaking them in order to break the spirits of the people they've conquered
even better when the people don't take it as the loss of all hope, but instead use it as a driving factor to rally and fight
