her back lays flat against the roof, eyes to the sky with a longing for something she wouldn't even recognize if it hit her in the face. what did seattle look like before became broken concrete and abandoned posts? hell, what did salt lake? lived there her whole life and couldn't tell the difference between then and now. it's bittersweet, she'd tell herself on nights when the thoughts grew heavy. bitter for how she'll never be able to turn back time and know. sweet because longing for memories has to be better than missing them beneath the glow of moonlight.

the sound of a soccer ball meeting the wall with a heavy thud echoes even when they're up this high. pulls her lips into a smile. she can hear one of the younger kids groaning for missing his chance to save the ball while the other team collectively cheers. isn't it funny how priorities change? the last time she cared about a soccer ball had to be more than the amount of fingers she has on one hand. maybe two. no, not two— her heart has already thundered a little too loudly to be too changed by this world yet. something her mother tells her she's proud of her for.

the supplies comes in waves. summer has been kind to them. must be the sun talking— the heat its rays provide being just enough to warm her insides where she's still frostbitten from winter— but she's counting the numbers, counting the days and by the end of fall.. they might just be back to square one. when winter comes they'll have the clothes on their back and the bordered up windows of their homes but what the hell is that going to do for rumbling bellies? ❝   a whole lot of nothing.   ❞ she mumbles into the campfire as it sparks away in front of her.

002. i do not follow everyone back. i've been on tumblr for many years now and have learned how best to curate a space for myself that i am happy to be in. it would be a disservice not only to myself but to everyone if i acted as though i could keep up with a quick moving dash by interacting with every single person. for the most part, i tend to follow people back within twenty four hours if i can see us writing together. otherwise i do make sure to softblock unless rules state you'd prefer to be hardblocked to avoid confusion.

003. if you support or condone racism, homophobia, transphobia, white-washing, suicide baiting, bullying or bigotry of any kind i will immediately block you. this also goes for zionists. we have nothing in common and i do not want that energy in my space. this is your one and only warning.

004. in terms of callout culture: i do not partake in it just for the sake of it. i typically do not reblog or engage with callout posts, but if someone is actively harmful to the community as a whole then of course that's different. i'm not interested in watching anyone to try to chase somebody out of a community simply because they don't like them. i am an adult with a mind of her own who can make decisions for herself. just because i don't interact doesn't mean i don't see it nor does it mean i'm supporting or not supporting it.

005. to reiterate my blog-view intro as well as the above: this blog is plot-driven. it's less of a suggestion and more of a hey, if we're going to be mutuals, you need to know that i am going to approach you to plot at some point. i do not follow people who i do not wish to interact with. i'm somebody who enjoys getting the ball rolling. whether this plotting is getting in deep on the in's and out's of a thread or just laying out a general dynamic for our muses and where + how they interact — i am open to either or. but there needs to be some form of communication, especially if we are going to have multiple threads. i will always respond to random starter calls and i may even drop a meme response without any plotting but just be aware that it's coming. this is becoming a pretty non-negotiable thing for me. i'm willing to do the work, so, if you follow me i am taking it that you are also willing. 50/50 effort, but 100% pay off for writing fun we will both enjoy.

colette never wanted to lead in flagstaff. she needed to. coincidentally, it was happenstance, but it was all she had to fight for when her wife and their two children never made it home from their vacation at the start of the outbreak. for a long time she resented the idea that ANYTHING COULD EVER BE PEACEFUL AGAIN. as a woman who spent her adult life working as a judge —— the thought alone terrified her. now, twenty years after the outbreak she is still unsure whether or not true peace is achievable (partially because she found hers in the four walls of the home she made her family in and without her family... who is she really at all?) but she would never reveal her lack of hope to anyone. i really don't think anyone would suspect she feels that way either. colette is the backbone, a pillar of strength. and any bit of happiness she does hold within comes from seeing the people of the community striving for the best.

flagstaff, arizona ( pre late 2031 ) —— one city, two factions. the city is drawn into two sides who swore to an agreement that if they kept their side of the street clean, so would the other. this meant against any groups of infected and against any impending fedra operations from the alanta quarantine zone. as weeks turned into months and months into years, both settlement populations continued to grow as word spread. while their way of survival, they learn, is better in numbers it's no surprise when their supplies begins to become scarce during the turnover of time. after all, their state is still prominently military controlled. they are not only losing against one another, but if it is them against the entirety of fedra, what is lost is better than dead ... that is, until death comes in like a cloud hidden storm. at the end of 2031, a horde unlike flagstaff had seen since the beginning of the outbreak arrives and after a damning start to winter in illnesses —— both sides are left feeling the heat on the defence front. the only logical response to the situation glares at them; they must, for the first time, work together. there are some who say the city's fate was saved on that late december day. some are angry that the people who once stole their resources are no longer foes but allies. it makes no difference because one thing remains true in the year 2033 - flagstaff, arizona —— one city, two factions. who are now co-existing as one. and they call themselves: arizona's last.

thinking about when tommy told ellie and dina that him and maria were taking some time apart, but specifically when he said "it's something we both want" and how to me... that is tommy's way of giving himself the miller brother treatment like JOEL DIDN'T THINK HE DESERVED TO BE HAPPY FOR SO MANY YEARS (maybe truthfully ever in game???) and here tommy is saying that maria, the person who i honestly believe changed his life for the better, is now someone who he wants to spend time away from. his grief and his anger put him in a place where he feels like he is better off alone. this isn't to say that from maria's perspective tommy hasn't changed or that she didn't have her own rightful reasons. i mean, this scene alone proves how much he has: he's exhausted but still blooming with rage. he is vengeful in more ways than i even think he was during the earlier half of the game. time didn't heal his wounds, which is something he probably thought would happen because that's how tommy managed to get through the trauma in his life prior to joel's death. but when it comes to him taking time away from maria... i don't think it has anything to do with maria herself if he really allowed himself to think about it, but in the wise words of taylor swift "i can't see facts through all of my fury"
