Quick & Easy Tarot Card Meanings (Yes, All 78)
The Modern Phrasal approach is a novel method of learning tarot.
It queers older card meanings by applying them to a wider context of human life.
Each phrase is built for modern concerns, attention spans, and situations.
I developed the Modern Phrasal Approach during my twenty-two years of tarot study.
Temperance Queer Tarot, my tarot service for queers, feminists, and leftists, has been in operation for the past twelve years.
The Modern Phrasal Approach also comes out of my lifelong work as a poet. I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University.
SLINGSHOT, my first book of poems, won several awards. It also reminded me of the importance of the phrase to language.
The primacy of the phrase is what poetry understands better than all other forms of writing.
The Modern Phrasal Approach combines tarot, storytelling, and poetry to paint a picture of possible futures.
You may notice that there are no reversed card meanings.
This is because the reader is intended to read reverse as a return to the unlearned lessons of the previous card.
That is the best method of reversal reading for this system. Of course, you may elect not to read reversals at all.
Ok, let’s go!

Four Basic Steps for Effective Creative Visualisation 🌀🌀🌀
From Creative Visualisation by Shakti Gawain📚
Four Basic Steps for Effective
Creative Visualization
1. Set Your Goal
Decide on something you would like to have, work toward, realize, or create. It can be on any level — a job, a house, a relationship, a change in yourself, increased prosperity, a happier state of mind, improved health, beauty, or better physical condition, or whatever.
At first, choose goals that are fairly easy for you to believe in, that you feel are possible to realize in the fairly near future. That way you won't have to deal with too much negative resistance in yourself, and you can maximize your feelings of success as you are learning creative visualization. Later, when you have more prac-tice, you can take on more difficult or challenging prob-lems.
Creative Visualization
2. Create a Clear Idea or Picture
Create an idea or mental picture of the object or situation exactly as you want it. You should think of it in the present tense as already existing the way you want it to be. Picture yourself with the situation as you desire it now. Include as many details as you can.
You may wish to make an actual physical picture of it as well, by making a treasure map described in detail later). This is an optional step, not at all necessary, but often helpful (and fun!).
3. Focus on it Often
Bring your idea or mental picture to mind often, both in quiet meditation periods, and also casually throughout the day when you happen to think of it. In this way it becomes an integrated part of your life, it becomes more of a reality for you, and you project it more successfully.
Focus on it clearly, yet in a light, gentle way. It's important not to feel like you are striving too hard for it or putting an excessive amount of energy into it — that would tend to hinder rather than help.
4. Give it Positive Energy
As you focus on your goal, think about it in a posi-tive, encouraging way. Make strong positive statements to yourself: that it exists, that it has come or is now coming to you. See yourself receiving or achieving it.
These positive statements are called "affirmations." While you are using affirmations, try to temporarily suspend any doubts or disbelief you may have, at least for the moment, and practice getting the feeling that that which you desire is very real and possible.
Basics of Creative Visualization
Continue to work with this process until you achieve your goal, or no longer have the desire to do so. Remember that goals often change before they are realized, which is a perfectly natural part of the human process of change and growth. So don't try to prolong it any longer than you have energy for it — if you lose interest it may mean that it's time for a new look at what you want.
If you find that a goal has changed for you, be sure to acknowledge that to yourself. Get clear in your mind about the fact that you are no longer focusing on your previous goal. End cycle on the old, and begin cycle on the new. This helps you avoid getting confused, or feeling like you've "failed" when you have simply changed.
When you achieve a goal, be sure to acknowledge consciously to yourself that it has been completed. Often we achieve things which we have been desiring and visualizing, and we forget to even notice that we have succeeded! So give yourself some appreciation and a pat on the back, and be sure to thank the universe for fulfilling your requests.

Make Your Own Divination Tools
Hermit-Wizard's Custom Craft Series Pt. 2
These are my Arcana Tiles - a custom tool I created for divination. This is 100% my own design, and is a combination of Runes & the 22 Major Arcana cards of a tarot deck.
Tumblr media
The symbols were created by staring long & hard at the original Rider-Waite deck. Some are clearly more obvious than others, but these are in order from The Fool to The World.
Tumblr media
To read them, I scoop them into my hands and shake'em like bananas. This is not a quiet process. I like the clacking though. Then I toss em out like runes on a piece of fabric.
Face down, removed. Off or half off the fabric, removed. The remaining tiles are read.
Tumblr media
This tends to read like a timeline, a literal or metaphorical map, or just a few groupings of advice. I try to keep them as close to their original positions as I can.
They also tend to "point" to each other in a way that weaves the story.
This also makes an AWESOME tool to elaborate on existing tarot readings too. I'll toss 'em on a spread and watch it flesh out the story more.
I've tried to explain the reading method to people before. It's probably 50% intuition & 50% method, but either way it's extremely accurate and way fun.
The best part, is that your Craft doesn't have to make sense to anyone else.

A Short Guide to Pyromancy
The generic practice of reading fire is called pyromancy.
We can break a candle reading session down to 3 main parts:
Observation (flame watching)
Gathering and Understanding (decoding fire’s messages)
Final Question and Goodbye (ask if there’s anything else you should know before leaving, thank and salute fire salamanders)
During the observation phase, watch for:
Length of the flame for 1 to 2 minutes to know WHEN, the timing, PAST
Shape of the flame for 2 to 3 minutes to know WHAT-the actual matter is, the PRESENT
Direction and Behavior of the flame for 3 to 4 minutes to know HOW, the true nature of it hints at the FUTURE (see where the fire is pointing to know what type of matter it is, concentrate on the opposite direction telling you how to counteract to solve or banish whatever it might be; it also indicates what elemental energy is strongly supporting/protecting you in taking action as well as in related spell work)
Presence/Absence of Smoke for 2 to 3 minutes to understand the SOURCE of your awareness *****Keep a compass handy!*****
Salamanders fire will try to communicate with you as soon as you light the fire/candle so pay attention from the very beginning.
Fire energy is impulsive, blunt, active, carefree and wild.
This type of divination detects negativity effectively because it easily speaks the brutally honest truth regardless of how you feel or what’s happening. It brings up issues that we refuse to deal with. Again, it’s pure blunt energy.
Because of its wild nature, fire will also charge us with optimism and explosive determination to overcome problems and bad news: typically after pyromancy we feel motivated and “ready to go”.
Length
Long, Extra Long: Something has been bothering you for a very long time now (trust your intuition, probably for years) which you never actively faced, You’ve been quiet for too long, Unsolved problems from the past are challenging your patience, Relevant stuff that had to be cleared much earlier
Medium: Something that has been lurking in the back of your mind for 1-3 months, Aplan or an idea that could change/shake your life but is not currently a priority to you, It might be something you heard from another person or a vague thought
Short: Something intense that happened within the last couple days, Avery recent thing is bothering you and has almost caught you by surprise, Unexpected news from day to day, Anew sudden event that physically or emotionally shook you
Shape
Double: Two things that were generated consequentially or have a common link, Two entities/people united by a common theme.
Super-thin Line: Something you felt or suspected but never had proof of evidence about, A subtle suspicion, A doubt, An insinuation, A sneaky or secretive individual
Regular: Something/someone that you accept and is part of your routine, Your own mindset, Something very close and not disturbing, A solid milestone in your daily life
Round: One thing in particular that constantly “fills you up”, Makes you feel complete, Full, Exploding or either extremely delighted, Aperson who represses/suppresses you, Someone ghosting you on purpose just to humble you or to make you feel lesser
Behavior
Steady: Things are happening in the background, far from the “public eye” and without you even realizing. You and people around you are calm, clueless, peaceful and the surroundings seem safe. Good vibes are in the air but definitely keep your eyes open and intuition awake.
Shaky, Wiggly: Things are visibly happening before your eyes, making you confused, uneasy or giving you mood swings andanxiety. You are able to feel bad vibes around you. Take control of the situation and protect yourself.
Weak, Petite, Almost Extinguished: Someone is now annihilating you before the eyes of everybody, but still no one defends you. Seek help in others. Protect yourself and take action to win this ripe, suffered battle.
Directions
EAST | AIR: Communication, Mindset, Mental/Spoken/Written Things, Logical Reasoning, Ideas, Plans, Spring, Morning, Sunrise, Masculine
WEST | WATER: Emotions, Unconscious, Gut Feelings, Passivity, Illogical Reasoning, Intangibility, Blue, Flow, Moisture, Fall, Sunset, Feminine
SOUTH |FIRE: Action, Guidance, Strength, Activity, Blood, Warmth, Creativity, Masculine, Red, Impulse, Summer, Noon
NORTH | EARTH; Stability, Firmness, Art, Finance, Grounding, Material Things, Tangibility, Stillness, Death, Birth, Winter, Midnight, Green
(ALL YOUR PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE about the elements and how they can be interpreted, what meanings they have in our lives and their specific correspondences)
Smoke
Absence: You are the source of awareness. Your body and soul have sent you signals about matter.
Presence: Someone else enlightened you with their words and made you fully aware of matter. Something popped up as an obvious proof that you weren’t expecting to find. This has awakened your inquisitive mind and led it to this reading.

You Have No Power Over Me
A spell to stand up for yourself and become a confident badass witch.
Requires:
medium sized bowl filled with water (snow water or tap water)
red candle
dried thyme
vanilla extract
cinnamon
an item you wear everyday (jewelry, body spray/perfume, lip chap, etc)
Steps:
Burn the candle so you have enough wax to pour.
In the bowl of water, set your item in. If it is something that can not be set in water, then place it in a jar inside the water.
Drip the wax into the water and add the thyme, vanilla and cinnamon in as well.
Using your finger, stir the water around the item/jar clockwise while saying “you have no power over me”. Focus your energy on to the item and stir as many times as needed.
Wear the item everyday and repeat the spell every couple of months or when you feel the need too.
Slay witches <3

How I read Solar Return charts
Tumblr media
The Solar Return chart shows what kind of energies are there for a specific year. It starts the moment the Sun returns to its exact position when you were born and lasts for a year.
☀️ I look at the Ascendant first. Who is the ruler? Where is it placed? What are the aspects? And what house does the Ascendant rule in the birth chart ? (Ex: Scorpio Rising in my 2021 Solar Return chart and Scorpio rules my 6th house in my own chart - I’ll probably be obsessed with getting things done, and I’ll be working my ass off)
☀️ Then, I look at the Sun and the Moon. I look at the aspects, the placement etc etc.
☀️ Is there a stellium ? I take note of that too.
☀️I check out the annual profection for that year. This year, I’ll be in a 4th house profection year and lo and behold, I have a 4th house stellium in my Solar Return.
☀️ I sometimes look at the superposition of the Solar houses to the natal houses. For example: my 4th house is in Aquarius in my Solar Return and my 9th house is in Aquarius in my birth chart. So there could be a link between studying higher knowledge from the comfort of my home, or something like that.
☀️ And then I read the rest of the chart just like a birth chart reading.
In my opinion, the best way to learn is through examples. I’ll make a few articles about some celebrities SR charts in the next couple of weeks. :)
