Robert from Rising Kale Farms is a beekeeper with 5 days experience at the time of this video. The hives were purchased, the bees were installed... we waited 5 days. Now what? Well, Robert wanted to put the sugar water in one of the hives that didn't get it on the first day so it was a good opportunity to see how the girls were doing. He had lots of questions and I had some answers... hopefully they were right! LOL. I'd love to hear what you have to add to the conversation.

I did one major thing different than what most beekeeping people recommend. One things that could make all the difference in the world in the success of splitting hives and making nucs. Potentially my method will prove that splitting hives doesn't have to be a time to travel 2 miles away from the original beeyard. Also potentially I could prove that I know how to lose bees. In this video I go through the process of splitting two hives to create 5 frame nucs. Along the way I show some beehive inspections and tid bits of interesting beekeeping information. Hopefully you enjoy your visit here to the Daddykirbs Farm for this beekeeping episode. Thanks for being a part of my story!

Mom's days of planting in a ground level garden bed are over, BUT SHE'S NOT DONE GROWING FOOD! In this video I helped her put together her new Greenstalk Garden so she could have A Better Way to Grow Food In A Suburban Backyard. By growing food vertically she can grow more food in a smaller space. This vertical garden will allow her to grow almost as much food on 2 square feet of space as she could in a normal 4 x 8 foot ground level raised bed. The smaller space and stacked containers will make the garden easier to tend to as well.
