no, nope, from this point onwards i'm never interacting with a certain part of the terror fandom, these people just sound vile when talking about characters, tyyyyy
Suddenly struck with a need to explain to you how boat pronouns work (I work in the marine industry).
When you're talking about the design of the boat, you say "it".
When the boat is still being built, your say "it".
When the boat is nearing completion, you can say "it" or "she".
When the boat is floating in the water you probably say "she", unless there is still a lot of work to be done (e.g. no engine yet) then you say "it".
When the boat is officially launched and operating, you say "she". If you continue to say "it" at this point you are not incorrect but suspiciously untraditional. You are not playing the game.
If you are referring to a boat you don't really know anything about you may say "it" ("there's a big boat, it's coming this way"). But if you know its name, it's probably "she" ("there's the Waverley, she's on her way to Greenock").
If you are talking about boats in general, you say "it" ("when a boat is hit by a wave it heels over")
If you speak about a boat in complimentary terms, it's "she" ("she's a grand boat"). If you are being disparaging it may be it, but not necessarily ("it's as ugly as sin", "she's a grotty old tub").
If she has a boy's name, she's still she. "Boy James", "King Edward", "Sir David Attenborough"? The pronoun is she.
If it's a dumb barge (no engine), you say it. But if it's a rowing boat (no engine), you say she.
I hope this has cleared things up so that you may not be in danger of misgendering floating objects.
Getting a bit sick of all the "ooh I'm so glad Laios has a soft body!" "Laios is built like an average guy" style posts. Because he doesn't and isn't.
Laios is built like a fucking professional wrestler. He isn't like, super chiseled or anything but he does not have an "average" body, he his built like someone who does a LOT of physical effort and training.
9. the fact that proper character establishment is nonexistent. if you are not in the fandom and you watch the series for the first time, you will not remember like 90% of the characters. people even have trouble with remembering the names of the main characters because the series are over-saturated with them, but don't make time to show them properly and make you remember them. i had this problem after my first watch (i had to check if i remember the character correctly), and i showed the terror to two people and if it wasn't for my obsession with these two, they won't even remember who hickey or goodsir is.
10. again, characters. the fanon interpretations are either one-sided, dehumanising or infantilising. and sometimes people treat a character as a personification of a fetish and nothing more, honestly.
19. i dunno, there is nothing in whatever i like that i feel ashamed of? i'm only ashamed to say i kin certain character and see that apparently it's cringe, but ehhh. to each their own, i guess. otherwise i don't feel anything close to being mad/ashamed/horrified when it comes to my main ship/headcanons/etc. i'm proud to preach that mage!goodsir will perform a vivisection on vampire!hickey and stuff like that.
20. that's a tough one. hodge's confession, i guess.
