Scared Sniper x Ted (Tankmen)

um u mmm angst ....

Steve stared at his half pint of beer , it was probably warm by now . gross . He grunted when a hand clapped his back .

"Whats bothering you ? You've been staring at your drink for the past twenty minutes . " Oh , it was captain . He pulled up the seat next to Steve and sat , waving down the 'bartender' for a drink .

Steve shrugged taking a sip of his beer , he was right it was warm. He set it down . " Just thinking ." His captain nodded leaning his head onto his palm . They stayed in comfortable silence until the bartender set a drink down in front of the captain .

" I don't know why he doesn't just say something."

John had raised the glass to his lips for a sip and placed it back down confused at the sudden interruption of silence . "Who ? "

Steve smacked his hand on the wooden table , "Skit !! I mean he knows that if he says something about Ted then we'd give him a new position or some shit but he wont even stand up for himself ! "

Cap shrugged trying to find the right words for this situation , it wasn't like he didn't know . Practically everyone knew atleast a little about how Ted would treat Skit it wasn't really a secret . " He's a grown man we can't really force him to tell us anything , if he wants to then he will "

"That's the thing ! He wont ! He's so .. so .. " Steve gestured around trying to find the right words . He shook his head and took another sip of beer. "Can you imagine the other day i saw him in the showers , covered in cigarette burns ? "

Cap tilted his head he had heard but he hadn't seen .

" So i ask him , right ? I ask him if he's okay an' if it was Ted hurting him and he cant even look me in the eye muttering about some he loves me shit" Steve sighed " I just don't get it . I want to help him but he wont let me. "

Captain drummed his fingers on the table,he could see where Steve was coming from it wasn't really like he was okay with it either but as a leader he had to turn a blind eye . " Steve .. I know this bothers you but we really cant get in between them . Ted is one of our best and he knows ALOT about us - don't look at me like that , you know its true . What if we kick him out and he takes all that to the other side ?"

Steve opened his mouth to counter but he knew Cap wasn't lying , Ted had been with them since the start .

The captain went on " We cant prioritize helping Skit when we have a war going on "he gestured around him , he sighed when he saw how disheartened Steve looked . He placed a hand on his shoulder. "Look i want to help him and i know you want to help to but we cant if Skit doesn't even want to help himself."

Steve groaned Cap had some pretty good points but that couldn't and wouldn't make everything okay and just knowing Skit was probably getting smacked around- "i need another drink ."

Cap nodded " Me too."
