I've been here a couple of months but i still feel like i'm adjusting." She mentioned before giving her a giant smile at the mention of her son. "Aww thank you. He's seven months old and his name is Hendrix." Mimi said very proudly.
She stuck a bookmark in her book before closing it and adding it to the stack of books on the table. "Yeah, I don't think it's usually this crowded," she said, grabbing her milkshake and sipping it. She shook her head and answered, "No, I've lived here for about five years. I don't really get out much though. So it's my first time here as well." She opened up the menu in front of her and then looked back at the pair sitting across from her. "Your baby is really cute," she said to the woman.

If you knew anything about Celina Villanueva, it was that she was a foodie in the sense that she just really enjoyed food. She never turned it down, and could be found snacking at pretty much any hour of the day. And pie? oh, she could always go for something sweet, and the so could the kids, who would adore her when she came home with it for dessert after dinner. “Honestly, no matter what time you came, it would have been busy,” she assures the girl in front of her, shrugging a shoulder. “If I know anything about New York it’s that there’s never really a slow day, especially during a sale.”

"I'm doing good. I just moved here so not too long ago so I'm still adjusting to the area and stuff." Getting a look at him now, she can see how much their son looks like him especially in the smile. "how about you? New York is treating you well?"
There were only a few customers left in front of Pauly; fortunately, he had infinite patience when it came to waiting in line, given he knew what the workers had to go through on a daily basis. He alternated between sipping his drink and checking his phone, until he felt a tap on his shoulder. "Oh, it's called a Cherry Limeade on the menu," he replied before turning, offering a smile. ...Wait. She looked familiar. His smile faded into a momentary look of concentration. "Oh, shit! Uh... Mi-Rae, right? Hey!" It had to be a truly small world; he was all the way across the country, and yet managed to find a familiar face. ...Well, somewhat familiar, given he hadn't been in the most sober state of mind when they'd met. But he had... hopefully... remembered her name right. "I never expected to see anyone from LA here!" He ruffled up his hair with his free hand. "How's it going?"

After volunteering to do the pie run for her coworkers and herself, and wondering why no one wise jumped at the chance, here she stood in line as she tried to eye and see what flavors they had. "Traffic was rough but now I imagine my drive back is gonna be a pain in the behind. It's going to remind me of when I was back is Los Angeles." She said turning to the person standing near here. "I just hope all the good ones aren't sold out already."

☆ –– mi-rae wasn't a stranger to this sort of scene, but she imagined that she almost stood out as if if she gave off the newbie vibe. Some coworkers had suggested coming to a place like this, and she more than jumped at the chance to see how things were like here. Now here she was and a little bored of the conversation.
Playing with the rim of the glass of her drink, she turned to the other who spoke to her. "Sure, here." She said and passed her lighter to them. "Do you need a stick too?" mimi said, offering.

He was struggling through his drink, which in all actuality was not only a bit pathetic for a man of his age but also made him feel like a bit of a prick, considering how well made the dammed thing was, all crystal-clear ice molded into a perfect sphere and carefully styled orange peel. Even the smooth, caramelly, oaky finish to the whiskey would be something of a delight if he were a different type of man, however, he wasn't that type of man. He was the type of man who ordered a cosmopolitan with a heavy dash of bitters or an aviation; something that came in a fancy little glass and had more than two ingredients and would most definitely be the subject of harsh ridicule from the lads back home, were he back home, though he wasn't home- not even close- and so even that thought did nothing but bring an even larger displeased sigh tumbling from his lips.
Still, it was too late to do anything about his painfully wrong rink order now, after all, who sent back a drink they had already put their lips on? Not him, even if he did grimace with every compulsory sip. It was entirely his fault, anyway. Had he not been so absorbed in his book he would have noticed that he had been given another patron's order and now they would both need to suffer for it. It was what he got for reading inside a speakeasy rather than interacting with others like a normal person.
He set down his paperback and ran a hand over his face before he reached for his pack of cigarettes and lighter, throwing a fifty on the bar top with a nod toward the bartender to save his seat when he realized his lighter was nowhere to be found in the pockets of his coat.
"Sorry," he said, turning to the person closest to him, "have you got a light? I'll get your next round as a thank you."

☆ –– "It's such a unique piece." Not that mi-rae knew much about art in general, but she learned to appreciate as she could never have the talent or creativity to come up with something like that. Today, she was here having a typical tourist adventure visiting the MMOA as one does and felt like she hadn't even scratched the surface of seeing everything. "If i even attempted something, i feel like it'll look similar to something one of the daycare kids draws."

Despite the plethora of people who milled about, it was easy to pretend like they didn't exist as she made her way though the various collections. She'd always had an appreciation for both art and history, and this was a place where both of these things came together. She often found herself back here when she had a break, because she could get lost in each gallery for hours.
Standing in the Robert Lehman wing, she noticed someone next to her focused on the same piece she was looking at, with almost the same look of wonder and interest on their face as she had. "Fascinating, isn't it?" Katie mused, standing with her hands held together behind her back. She glanced over at them for a moment and offered a small smile. "I couldn't ever manage to create anything like this even if I tried."

LA had its fair share amount of coffee shop, so mi-rae was more than happy to see New York was no different. "Sorry, I totally answered you without thinking. I mean, you're not wrong. Here i am with my americano with an extra shot of espresso, and i thought it was too much to ask." She said after taking a sip from her drink. "People have some guts when they ask for a crazy drink order."

being a full-time worker and student, caffeine was a vice that logan was all too familiar with. most days she had enough time to make a pot of coffee at home, but today she had woken up late. thankfully for her, the big apple never had a shortage of cafes in any given area, so she stopped in one before making her daily commute.
after placing her order, a regular drip coffee with cream, she patiently waits by the pickup counter. the baristas announce the orders as they finish them and she quirks up her brow at a particularly complicated order. "why do some people feel the need to be so specific about their coffee?" she asks no one in particular. "half-caf cappuccino with an extra shot, extra foam, a pump of caramel and vanilla, and cinnamon on top? what even is that? it's all gonna have the same affect, i dunno why anyone's gotta modify it that much."

She sipped her coffee and looked at the person sitting next to her. "It's pretty crowded in here today," she mused as she looked around the room.

☆ –– mi-rae had the day off from work and was more than happy to take a me day for herself after dropping off her baby at the daycare. She had yet to finish exploring her new home, so she jumped at the chance to do just that today. After visiting the bakery Bake My Day, after a coworker recommended her to try and leaving with too many sweets, mimi stopped at the smoothie shop Main Squeeze. Not knowing what to get, she saw the drink the person in front of her in line had in their hand looking delicious. She tapped their shoulder, noting the frame of the person looking vaguely familiar, and asked "hey what drink is that?" But then a look of realization crossed her face.

Pauly was usually one to not live without caffeine, but today, out of the blue, he was craving something fresh and fruity. So, he opted to take a quick trip to Queens to Main Squeeze, one of the more talked-up places around the city. And he definitely wasn't disappointed! He ended up with some take on a cherry limeade, with cherries, lime sherbet, and coconut milk. He was... almost certain this wasn't healthy, but it didn't matter to him any. He was just happy he had the money to afford it. In fact, it was so good, he got back into the line to order another one to bring home to his mom. It was a fairly lengthy wait, but at least he had his own drink to sip on while he waited, taking a casual look around at the other patrons of the store.

Mi-Rae, or Mimi as she likes to go by, was born on a hot summer august day where it says to have rain just a bit that a rainbow came out for a few seconds, or at least that’s what her father told her growing up. Mimi grew up in Los Angeles, California living in a house with her father, a music teacher, and her grandmother. her own mother not in the picture after leaving the family and this making Mimi vow she'll never turn into her mother when she has her own family.
