More Sincere Tree Lot Imposters

• immediately notices awful lot-impostor-birch next door clashing with on-lot birch

And what turned into tweaking the birch trees turned into tweaking the willow… turned into defaulting nearly every tree’s CRES in the game.
These defaults will cause the game to inform the game’s trees to use their lot-view model in the neighbourhood view, affecting both lot impostors and trees placed in the neighbourhood view. In other words, the trees this mod alters now use their high-poly on-lot models.

I‘ve received many questions about where to find various SkyBoxes and Horizons as seen in my gameplay screenshots so I thought I’d put together a list of custom content links that you can easily go through to pick and choose what best suits your game. Although they are all beautiful, I’ve put a star next to my most frequently used boxes.
Important: Please don’t forget to download SkyFix 2.1 by Simnopke AND Effects (FX) Default Replacement Cube by Lowedeus before downloading these into your game. Be sure to place skyboxes at the lowest part of any corner of map with the arrow pointing towards the corner.

This was an idea that @lauratje86 had and that I thought was a very good idea and that, bonus, was something that I had the ability to do, yay! :)
These are edits of some pieces from some of @criquette-was-here‘s neighborhood deco sets. The originals had grassy bits. I made the grassy bits transparent instead of grassy (Or, in the case of the overpasses, concrete instead of grassy) so that the pieces fit better on non-lush terrains, such as the desert terrain above. I also recolored some concrete bits and railings on the motorway pieces that were originally green to make them a more neutral gray instead. The green looks fine on lush terrains, but I thought the color kind of stuck out too much on non-lush terrains. There are pieces from Criquette’s motorway set, the airport set, the bus transit set, and the roundabout from the decorative road pieces set. There are some other pieces I need to do, too, but this is what I got done for this week’s download. :)
There are two versions of these. There is a set that simply replaces the textures in Criquette’s original files, and a set where the pieces are all clones of those original pieces. The cloned set will add another version of each piece to your neighborhood deco catalog, so that you will have the original grassy versions as well as the edited version. The texture-replaced set will overwrite Criquette’s original files so that you will only have the version with transparent bits. I figured I’d do it this way so that if you’re already using these pieces in existing neighborhoods and like the way they look, you can get the cloned versions so that the pieces in any existing neighborhood won’t be overwritten.
You CAN have both edited sets at once in your Downloads at once, if you’d like, but if you get the texture-replaced version, make sure you allow the new files to overwrite the original ones or, if you have renamed the originals, make sure that you remove the original files before installing these. They cannot coexist.

This is just a little thing that I thought I’d share that may or may not be useful to anyone. :)
It’s a plain gray “horizon” meant to be used to fill in any visible gaps between the bottom of a skydome and your neighborhood’s terrain, when you don’t want to use a terrain horizon like GreatCheesecakePersona’s or Criquette’s or the ones I made. Which you probably wouldn’t want to do if you have an island neighborhood like the one above. What I really wanted to do was to make a convincing water/sky horizon, but doing that was frankly impossible because of the reflective nature of the water. (And it looked even worse when the mod for neighborhood water was in.) I tried, but…Yeah, I failed. But I did make this.
It’s a clone of Criquette’s horizon, and it wraps underneath your terrain. There’s a placement cube which you place in one corner of your terrain, with the black arrow pointing at the corner. When this and a skydome are aligned properly, you end up with a contiguous “bubble” around your terrain, with no turquoise gap visible from any camera angle.
It won’t work with every sky, of course. Obviously it works best with skyglobes that have clouds at the bottom edge of the dome. The top of the horizon has a semi-transparent bit to help it blend with the sky, but you’ll probably need to fiddle with the relative heights of the sky and the horizon, by moving one or the other higher or lower on the terrain until they align properly. Otherwise, you’ll see a line between the two. So, it’s fiddly, but it works. Sort of, anyway. :)

Because a few people were interested…
I screwed around with this a long time ago when I was making a fancy palace for some godforsaken reason. I wanted it to have a big, grand concrete staircase outside, but the railing that’s “attached” to the concrete modular stair is decidedly not palace-like. So I fiddled around and figured out how to make a fence (or a half-wall; they work the same way) look like stair railing. So, behind the cut is how to do it. With lotsa pictures. It requires the constrainfloorelevation cheat, but not in any scary way. If you can count to 12, you can do it. I promise. :)

Conversion of a set of fantasy eyes created by TechnoAngel. Perfect for your cyborgs, robots, and sim-like servos!
The eyes are available in six colours, labeled as custom, and are not townified.
To complete the look, I also made matching glowing contacts. Unless you’re using a lightning mod that makes unlit rooms/nights very dark the glow is not very noticeable, but it adds a nice touch and the contacts can be layered over different eyes to create unique effects. The meshes by Nopke are included.

I’m trying to make a big yellow water tank for my sci-fi hoods water treatment facility lot. I think it either needs a lid, or it needs to be hood deco so I can add some water inside. Maybe both?

Tutorial: Custom Skylines for Sims 2
This tutorial is for advanced Photoshop users that bring up quite a lot free time and have The Sims 3 installed on their computers. The skylines are being created by sticking screenshots from Sims 3 worlds together and warping that into a globe. Because of this, you could also use other games with cool landscapes or real life photos, but it probably won’t fit to the Sims 2 artstyle.
