“The big snake,” he whimpered, relaxing a bit in the boy’s arms. “It never happened…if couldn’t have killed me…but it seems so real in my mind…” He shuddered, shaking his head as if to shake the image out. “I can almost feel it..”

“Hey you’re safe. We’ll do our best to keep you away from snakes here, don’t worry.” He said, rubbing his back gently. “We are here to protect you from everything. Bullies and snakes.”

“Yeah. If you’re willing, we could go on an adventure to one. I went to a muggle library.There’s one by my house and I love it. It’s three stories tall and it has all sorts of muggle things. It said there’s a center near.”

“That sounds amazing! I’d love to visit a muggle library. Especially a big one like that” Scorpius said, grinning at Allie. “We can definitely go on an adventure to one.”

“Ok then.” Scorpius nodded, starting to walk again. “If that changes let me know and I’ll gladly help you.”

“I’m offering. But if you’re sure.” He said, looking at her, eyes a little soft.

Scorpius frowned and kept him held close, letting him continue to hug him, confused by what he was saying. “What do you mean Shaun, what’s happening?” He asked, wanting to try and piece it together, figure out what was happening to him. 

Shaun shook his head, his words making less and less sense. “The big snake will, I know it will,” he choked out, pressing his face into Scorpius’s neck. “Don’t let her kill me..I didn’t do anything this time, I swear I’m innocent, I’ve done nothing wrong, I’ve done nothing wrong.”

He squeezed his eyes shut for a moment, desperate to force the realistic images from his head. “I can’t stop seeing it..why is it so real? It never happened…!” He whimpered.

“James enjoys it. He loves being known and being well liked. Id like to be liked. Maybe loved one day, if that could happen. I don’t see it happening, but I would like that.” He shrugs.

“Well it’s meant for some people I think. But not me.” He said, shifting a little at the mention of love, rubbing the hair behind his ear as he thoroughly avoided eye contact with Albus. “I’m sure it will happen one day.”

“Alcohol for sure. High sugar foods mostly. Things that can increase hormone balance. Fun foods,” she says frowning.

“Well if it helps I’ll avoid those foods too if you want. So you have a friend in this?” He suggested, tilting his head a little at her.

“He had to drill in my mouth and pull at my tooth. It was my aunts parents and they’re muggle but it was horrible. Hated it.”

“The best friend of the not coolest person on the planet,” he replied.“So, there’s never been hope for you since you met me. That’s why in surprised you didn’t stay in the world where you were.”

Scorpius shifted a little as Albus mentioned the alternate world. “Much rather be unpopular with you than popular in a place where you don’t exist.” He responded, tone a little solemn. “And to be honest, popularity was exhausting, always expected to be somewhere, doing something or talking to someone. Really don’t know how people do it.”

“Mums just so mean!” She playfully whines.“To be fair my eight year old self got a muggle cavity. Horrible stuff.” She sighs, flipping her wig hair.

“That sounds....painful?” Scorpius said, having read up on dentistry once, curious to know more about the muggle world.

“No. Just medical diet crap. My allergies are only to the things I’ve told you. My diet is to make sure my hormones stay balanced. It doesn’t help my food cravings.” She sighs.

“Ah I see.” He said, having never thought of that before. “I hope you don’t mind me asking but what can’t you eat?” He asked, wanting to know what he should probably avoid eating around her so that he wouldn’t tempt her cravings even more.

She laughs.“Well, then I’d have to get your father’s broom and chase after you!” She smiles at him.“Mum is still against sweets. Such a tragedy.”

Scorpius chuckled at the mental image before shaking his head. “It’s truly devastating. How you’ve survived at all is beyond me. I truly believe that sweets are the cornerstone of humanity and all that is good and decent in this world.” He responded, smiling. “A life without sweets is a poor one indeed.”
