love with no place to go, i remind myself. and it is sticky sweet the way it clings to everything around you except yourself, how it makes mundane tasks so paltry and inane. how it makes the very air feel heavy. maybe i will learn to take that overflowing love, that which is extra and learn to pay it back to myself in times like these. when my heart is bruised and aching and i must be gentle with it. for now, though, it belongs out here in the open. raw and bleeding like a wound. i let it flow because it is meant to escape like the breath in my lungs.
it is known that all good things must come to an end. but the same can be said about the bad. and this i will say with utter certainty: grief does not disappear overnight. but it, too, will one day come to an end.
