“miss karen? i don’t like her.” she shuddered at the thought. “she’s not even my teacher and she yells at the junior team. one time she got mad at me for grabbing water, but what am i supposed to do when i’m dehydrated?” she shrugged. “i’m not sure when the juniors are getting our progress reports. miss angela said she would try to get us ours by last friday, but that didn’t happen.”

“yeah, her. she’s really not horrible unless someone makes her mad. she’s had more good days than bad, it’s just that everyone thinks she’s this horrible person in general and i think she knows that’s what everyone thinks, so she gives that to them. she’s really not that bad though,” she said. “well she won’t do that when i’m around, she’s gonna keep her mouth shut and not let a rude word slip to you. she’s just older, yanno. menopause and all that,” she said scrunching her nose. “maybe ask her again. i know not all the instructors do it, so if it’s not regular maybe she just forgot.”

raelia:

— “ No problem !! Ah yeah well you’ll remember eventually to get one !! ”

“i hope so. i’d hate to lose him forever. my mom got him for me before she... he’s just really special. i need to find him.”

arianaxhorn:

“Hm, maybe you’re right but I’m still not really sure. But it doesn’t really matter anyways.”

“ari, i know dad better than anybody. trust me. he loves us all the same. if he didn’t he wouldn’t have married mom. he may not be as close to you guys as he is me and the other gallos, but that’s just because he’s been with us since we were born. you guys will have the same relationship with him we do once you bond more. i didn’t think i’d ever like mom, but i spent time with her and now i consider her my mom. it’ll change for you guys too. i promise.”

— “ That’s so unfair to you !! ” Jun exclaimed. “ You should talk to Rae. Maybe she can help with the tap solo so you don’t bomb it ?? ” She suggested.

“oh no. no, no, no, getting outside help --- meaning any help from anyone but her --- would piss her off even more. i’m the one she goes to with all the solos at the important competitions and i’m not gonna risk her giving that spot to haley vernon.”

— “ Who said your pirouettes and pointe suck ?? ”

“my dance instructor --- when i find out who pissed her off, i’m having a not-so-pretty word with them. every time she gets mad, she takes it out of everyone else. she’s gonna give me a tap solo because she’s mad now, watch. i’m gonna completely bomb it. every time someone pisses her off, i get a damn tap solo, i can’t do tap to save my life, i always get second place with tap.”

raelia:

— “ My only plans for the day were trying to reason with my cousin and his family, ” Rae shrugged. “ I’d be happy to help look for him. ”

“grazie --- i really need to get him a leash so he can’t run off like that.”

taryngallo:

 “who are you talking about?” taryn asked, leaning in to glance at the paper. “your pirouettes are better than half the other dancers at the studio, including mine.”

“the dragon lady,” she muttered. “she decided giving us progress reports would help us because the senior team is older she thinks it’s not gonna completely destroy what we thought of ourselves. i think someone made her mad, she doesn’t pick on me unless someone starts her engine. if i find out who made her mad i’m having a few words with them, cause when she starts picking on me, it screws up my game.”

“what the fu --- my pirouettes and pointe do not suck,” she muttered, staring at a piece of paper. “who the hell pissed her off this week,” odessa scowled.

raelia:

— Rae shook her head, “ still. I shouldn’t have snapped at you. ” Pausing, Rae shook her head again. “ I haven’t. I can help you look though, if you’d like ?? ” she offered.

“only if you’re not busy, he’s a really sneaky one and could be right in front of my face,” she said.

arianaxhorn:

“Hm I’m not so sure about that, I hope he likes me. I think Taryn will always be his baby, but I don’t mind that too much.”

“well i know so. he loves you. taryn’s his biological baby, you’re both the youngest so you both are the special ones, but you’re the baby baby, and that’s a really special thing. he thinks of you the same way he thinks of taryn and the rest of us. he doesn’t love any of us more or less, we’re all his kids whether or not genetics say so.”

elisabell:

“yes! –wait, bug how?”

“i annoy them. i’ve been going there since i was little, everyone knows me that works there except the newbies.”

raelia:

— “ Okay, first of all, my fear is entirely valid. Second, I’m not just worried about myself. And third, you voted for Trump and you also have said and done plenty of things which were harmful to me and my family in the past year that we’ve tried to explain so you could listen, but you keep refusing. So we’re no longer related. I’ve disowned you, ” Rae scowled at the her cousin. She turned away, and almost ran into someone behind her. “ Could you watch where you’re going ?? Sorry, I’m just, really agitated. ”

odessa felt awkward just standing there while the other hashed into another person. so she scrolled through her phone until it seemed the argument was done. she looked up when rae started talking again and she shook her head. “no problem, everyone’s uninjured. i didn’t mean to eaves drop, i was just waiting so i could ask if you’ve seen a ferret running around anywhere?”

arianaxhorn:

“I really hope not, I mean I still like him, but he’s just not daddy. But I still think I’ll leave the talking and esplainin’ to you ‘cause I think he still loves you the most. “

“he loves us all the same, sweet pea. and you know what? you’re the baby of the whole family, so you’ve got a special little place in his heart.”

why do you call ariana a nick name but not taren?

“i do. ari’s my sweet pea, taryn’s my baby girl. they’ll both probably hate those names when they get older, but that’s what i’ll always call them.”

elisabell:

“oh my gosh, the milkshakes there are the best – wanna go? it’ll be my treat.”

“absolutely! i haven’t graced them with my presence in a while, i’m due to bug the staff.”

— “ Same !! Like, no one figures it out magically on their own instantly. ”

“i was doing really good in algebra until they got thrown in. i don’t pick up on math nearly as fast as the average student does. my little sisters could probably pick it up quicker than me.”

“ah. well, i like the cold. you wouldn’t be able to tell from the number of sweaters i have — i love cozy sweaters. they’re… cute, the ones i own.”

“i like anything that keeps me warm. i don’t move as well when i’m cold, i get tense and my instructor hates that.”
