hi i am so sorry we've been so inactive lately!!! kinda forgot to keep updating this tbh,,, BUT!!! SOME NEWS!!

i have redesigned octissues!!

his tissue is now like. a fin?? (credits to @anaystezia for that idea:3) i didd a little more research and apparently blue-ringed octopi don't always show their rings. so now he doesnt always have the rings.

overally he's a lot more mobile and grabby (like an octopus) (pleaaaaseeeeeeeee feel free to ask me questions:3 i love this little guy)

YES!!!!!!!!! yes u can!!!

paintbrush is a fire salamander named salabrush!

salabrush is close friends with merfan, testbot and glassbulb (lightbulb)!! they do have a short temper still, but don't typically burst into flames because they live in a forest... it would be very bad if they caught on fire while they were, say, in a tree hollow

i made them a fire salamander because. you'll never guess why. because theyre connected to fire :3

here are the og sketches!!! this is when i was experimenting with animals for them to be (apologies for the low quality)

and here were some other designs!! another option was a type of dragon!!

for salabrush i was really looking into fire-related creatures. apparently salamanders are connected to fire because they usually sleep under or in logs. when people took the logs and used them as fuel for fire, the salamanders would start clambering out, and we thought they were birthed from the fire!! hence the name fire salamander.

they enjoy sleeping in tree hollows and under big piles of leaves, and their fingers are decently sticky so they can climb very easily! their diet mainly consists of bugs (like salamanders usually) and they live in a hollowed out tree near a lake (which houses merfan)!

whats up with em in this au 😇😇😇

paper is a jackalope! :3 specifically, his name is paperlope

i'm not too sure on evil paper, actually... i'll check in w/ the others about him 4 u!!

buuuuttt paper is very strong! jackalopes are known to be fierce hunters that take down prey many times bigger than they are, like wolves! (they can also be abnormally big!) he's still got his usual personality, we didn't really change much of that aspect of any of the characters, but he's definitely a bit tougher than before.

since we've already covered paper in another ask (i'll reblog that one after i've finished answering yours!), i'll talk about pickle!

pickle is a satyr, which is (in this case) a half human half goat creature, with the waist and above being human and everything below being goat! typically they also have horns on either sides of their head

his name is pickyr!! (pronounced pick-ear) he has curly ram horns instead of goat horns, and is generally pretty peaceful.

a quick doodle (left) plus his official reference drawing (right)!! he does, in fact, have a goat tail :] he's generally a lot furrier, even on his non-goat parts, and some of his brown coat is actually visible in his arms and hands

most of the time his horns are a bit dusty or muddy, since he doesn't clean them incredibly often. when he does, though, they're a very beautiful brown! if the light hits them juuuuussttt right, you can even see hints of deep golden yellows and tints of dark red :3

he can play several instruments! his favorite is the flute, but he has a wide range... if he can get his hands on them, that is (testbot usually ends up making a lot of things for everyone, and pickyr's most requested items are musical instruments) he also enjoys playing!! since there are no video games in this universe, he sticks to fun, sometimes-competitive sports! (or their version of sports, atleast)

for some reason he has a slight country accent.... he also helps soapig out on her farm sometimes! (i'll get more into that if someone asks me about her :3) either way, they're wonderful friends!

TEST TUBE AND FAN!!!!!!!! named testbot and merfan!

fan is, as you can tell, a mermaid! test tube has Lore!!!!!!!! she is originally an alien named martiube, but since an accident that quite literally blew up in her face, she switched to robotic limbs and antennae, and now goes by the name testbot!

this is testbot! she does have antennae, but, like her limbs, she coated them in layers of metal and wires to protect them! she does originally have four arms and two animal-shaped legs :3 her liquid is actually an incredibly acidic liquid also! it has the ability to burn holes straight through metal, plastic, natural things (plants, grass, trees, etc.), and many many other materials. surprisingly enough, her glass never corrodes or melts. strange.

(drawing by @xegnarpzonmyzeeptilisqueech) and this is martiube! pre-accident, test tube was an alien. still acid liquid, but this time with natural limbs and antennae!! how fun!

now for merfan!!!

he does indeed have his own trident! he doesn't, um. use it for much though. it's mainly so he looks cooler than he actually is. (psst! some actually rumor it's fake or made of plastic, but don't tell him! he doesn't like accusations)

he's not able to fold himself up like in the show. he has little connectors on his sidepieces that house his gills! it's be quite the tragedy if those *did* collapse.

they're better seen here, on both sides of him! his tail has a lot of flair, very swoopy, large webs on it. his ruffs (the yellow things on his sidepieces) are also mostly for flair, but he can puff them up to make himself look more threatening, or lay them mostly flat to glide through water easier!

My most favorite creation, Mothphy. He basically has whatever mothman would have. He's a certified mango lover and he even eats the seeds. Bring a mango in his vicinity and you won't see a trace of it.

He's a pretty quiet guy, he lives up in his massive tree munching on fruit and trying to avoid any conflict. His biggest pet peeve has to be someone trying to copy him. Though his entire personality changed after a certain event...

I'll be adding more to him soon. :)

OMIGOSH SOMEONE ASKED ABIOUT THEM!!!!!! YAY!!!!!

salt and pepper's names in this au are harp and lyre :] their full names are S.S. Harp and S.S. Lyre (like boats. i thought it was silly)

they are both sirens!! i tried making their designs similar but also kind of different.

this is a small doodle i made of them :]

these are their tail shapes, without the wings!!!! (pepper/lyre is on the left, salt/harp is on the right!) harp's tail/webbing is sharper and stricter, sticking closer to the tail and ending in a lot of points while lyre's tail is rounder and more show-offy, going farther from the tail base with more dips!!

OH OH AND!! THEIR SHAKER TOPS!! i turned the holes into slits for their gills!!! i thought that was very clever of me

i named them that because those are the instruments they play!! originally s.s. harp was a placeholder (stood for siren salt harp) but it stuck with both harp and lyre so i thought it would be better to not have any meaning behind it :]

(harp is still obsessed with oj [named op here] which is what the whiteboard doodle is about)

OH OH OMG. this is gonna be long buuuuuttt they also have non-tail forms! it's very painstaking and slow, but both harp and lyre are able to morph their tails into scaley, webbed legs!

this is generally what they look like when morphed they have webbed hands, and there's still a filmy web-like substance connecting most of their legs, so they aren't able to walk very well when they first discovered they could do this, it didnt go so well... (they had NO idea how to walk, kept stumbling and clutching onto each other for support)

also they do have wings!!! i based their designs off the dnd version of a siren, so they have huge wings connected to their tails that can help propel them through the water and they're able to fling themselves on land for short distances. when they use their wings on land, it's usually for grabbing prey quick enough so they don't have time to react! a system they use is when one catches food using that method, the other grabs them (usually by the tail) and drags them back towards the water. it's quicker than having them flop all the way back to their lake,,

they do like preying on the people who come near the water ofc :3 they have this kind of alluring vibe which makes them appear prettier and more approachable than their regular counterparts, and their voices are powerful and can carry far!!
