they’re the main canon romance on NCIS Los Angeles and were sloooow burn, steadily building up since deeks’ first inro in season one
ok so this is marty deeks:
he’s an LAPD detective who specializes in undercover work and ends up getting tangled up in an ncis operation, where he meets special agent kensi blye:
they do not hit it off and seem to genuinely dislike each other, but manage to work together to solve the case. obviously, that isn’t the last time they see each other or even have to work together to save the day, so slowly but surely they graduate from mutual dislike to grudging respect to genuine care and best friendship as they work together as partners for many years

they go through basically everything together. neither of them have much family that their close to, at the beginning, and so they gravitate towards each other, to fill that space. they become best friends, each other’s Person, they know each other better than anyone else, evidenced time and time again when they constantly put each other’s lives in their hands with complete trust and belief that they’ll always come through for one another. they’re also the only ones who ever laugh at each other’s stupid nerdy inside jokes. they’re the only ones who can make each other truly, completely happy
my otp, being badass and saving the world and believing in each other all in a day’s work
the biggest struggle and obstacle was always themselves: first, neither of them realized their feelings. then when they finally did, they weren’t sure it was worth risking their friendship. then when they decided to try to go for it, they weren’t sure they’d be able to because of their jobs
but obviously, love wins out in the end
they’re always smiling in their kisses and i’m so–!!! every time!!!
it wasn’t smooth sailing though! in jobs like theirs, everyday might be their last. but they always had each other, fighting side by side and back to back and sometimes they were forced apart and separated but they stopped at nothing to find their ways back to each other, each time–whether it was when deeks was kidnapped and tortured or when kensi was deployed overseas or when kensi was on the run or when deeks was wrongfully arrested (it’s ncis yall its v over dramatic but i love it anyways 7 billion explosions and all)
and now we’re here!!! densi living together and in love and making breakfast and giggling and talking about marriage and kids!!! after 8 seasons of being built up from nothing!! years of growing mutual respect and love and friendship into something even bigger!! densi are the most canon soul mates i have ever seen on tv and they will always be my number one otp
