one of the most important things in the horrible/happy au is that dream, in the prison and even in the club, has this thought of 'i'll remember this person, i can get revenge'. it's hard to cling to, sure, but he needs something.

and when techno and phil rescue him, they're angry. they're fuming about what was done. he hears them talk about how they want to tear the whole thing down but... they don't. it's not important right now. what's important is taking care of dream, even if they don't know it's him at this point. techno's whole shtick is destroying abusive regimes and dream knows it but all techno seems to care about is making sure dream is okay.

it hits dream hard, y'know? it's one of first turning points he has onto the path of healing.

i think it really depends on the au!

horrible/happy, i tend to picture techno with longer hair/mane that he often braids. dream has hair that's about a foot or so long when he's first rescued and continues to keep it long as 'rabbit' until it's revealed he's actually dream. when it's long, he doesn't do much with it but techno will sometimes braid it or put it up for him. afterwards, dream keeps it shorter! the longest he lets it go is about chin length.

for the personal shopper au, i know techno keeps his hair dyed pink! sometimes you can see his brown roots. he has hair that's a bit past his shoulder and does the whole bun/braid thing. i do think he might have a side shave or undercut. dream used to keep his hair short but has let it grow out mostly because he doesn't leave the house anymore. it's not super long so he puts it in a kinda pathetic ponytail.

selkie au, dream has long hair! like, very long, down to his waist. techno has hair that's about to his shoulders.

d&d au, i've thought about it a bit and i think techno would actually have short hair tbh. he wears a lot of armor considering he's a paladin. dream is the one with shoulder length hair that he keeps in a ponytail.

season two, techno is the same as horrible/happy and i think dream probably has about chin length hair. i haven't really decided on a design for him. rabbit dream won the poll but i worry about being too 'niche'.

thinking about pet names that c!techno would call c!dream and not in a joking way to make dream go 'TECHNO!' and turn red.

i can picture him saying 'babe' or 'honey' but i think. i think really what it would be is saying dream's name in that soft way he does.

i was talking in my dnb discord server that i really really want to write more dnb fics. my main to-do list is the personal shopper au, the season two au, and the selkie au.

i just. i want to write them so bad. i want to talk about them forever.

what about c!sam realising that c!techno remembers before c!techno realises c!sam does? would he try to convince c!techno that he's doing the right thing in this timeline ('he's not hurt, he's not in the prison, he's free to make his own choices and one of those is to be with me and that's your problem if you don't like it!'), or would he feign ignorance while subtly trying to keep him and c!dream apart - or turn the server against c!techno, to make sure he has less room to interfere?

i definitely think it'd be one of the latter options.

i can see c!sam trying to influence c!dream away from c!techno because well. techno isn't a good person. there was a reason that sam wanted to lock him up. he was a danger then and if he also has his memories, he's still a danger, isn't he?

even more so if he's trying to get dream 'on his side'. that's a dangerous combination and it has to be stopped. it's not something that sam could allow if he wants to keep the peace.

maybe he needs some help.

maybe he needs someone else to remember who will understand.

season two au!techno is going to bring his ability to use chat (his axe) with csam so he cant make sure he doesn't do more stupid things

i do think the whole thing would come to a head when techno just. can't stand by and let this happen any longer.

dream comes to him with his worries and fears. he feels comfortable with techno, he doesn't know why, there's just something about techno that makes dream feel safe. so he confides in techno.

which.... now that techno understands the extent, he absolutely would first confirm that sam does remember what happened before the reset and then confront sam.

part of me wonders if it would happen in front of dream. i'm picturing an enraged techno yelling at sam to tell him, to tell dream the truth and what sam did to him, allowed to be done. that would be so good for the angst, y'know?

but i wonder if techno would actually do that, for dream's sake.
