In my really honest opinion, part of being deeply into something is analyzing how bad it can be sometimes, if you don't have something critical to say about something you are into then you either have a superficial view of it or it's so important to you personally that thinking about it as bad or harmful hurts you. I'm very understanding of the latter, but the former really gets in the way to discussions of the show sometimes.
I love South Park, I really do, but I can make whole essays ranting about the transmisogyny the show sparked and the victim-blaming treatment of Butters for example. You should be able to express your criticisms of it freely without some idiot being all "fake fan!!!!!!" towards you.
All right, since this is a South Park blog I’m going to attract South Park fans on here, and they may be pissed off, but here we go. I actually feel really bad about being in this fandom and the brainrot that has consumed me and makes me think about this show so goddamn much. Because here’s the thing, there’s a lot I dislike about it. I don’t like all the slurs casually being tossed around (curse words like fuck are ok, slurs are not.)I don’t like all the fat jokes thrown at Cartman. I don’t like a majority of the political opinions. I don’t like how offensive/cruel it can be sometimes. I consider myself a very progressive person who is trying hard to make the world a better place and to care about others. So I feel bad that I still like a lot of this show. It has characters that are a lot of fun to play around with in fanfics and stuff, a lot of it is written well, I love wacky cartoon shenanigans, and yes, it makes me laugh. Basically I really only like the episodes (and video games since SOT and FBW fall into this too.) where the kids are acting like kids (Free Wilzyx, Casa Bonita, Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers, etc.) and not any of the political satire. (Though that can work as long as it’s focused on the kids. Like Best Friends Forever or Cupid Ye. You don’t need to know what exactly the episode is satirizing in order for it to make sense on it’s own.) I skip a lot of the episodes that I know will just piss me off, But is it still bad for me to watch the show at all if I don’t agree with a lot of its morals/messaging? Am I a hypocrite? Am I a bad person?

Unpopular opinion, but when it comes to their homelife I feel sorrier for Shelly than I do Stan. Her parents, especially Randy, treat her like an afterthought. It explains a lot about her behavior. Yet Stan gets all the angsty fanfiction about how saaaaaad he is living at that house.

Cartman is like the mascot of the show, if you talk about South Park with someone in real life they will think of Cartman and the shit he does, so it's understandable why people would think that when they have a surface level understanding of the show. However, being an anti while having a surface level understanding of the show is stupid as fuck, of all the valid critique you could make of South Park you choose the wrong one.
Although Cartman definetely does not represent Tratt's views, they do have questionable choices for aesops and surrogates. No Mr. Parker, I don't give a shit about the opinion of the guy who literally caused a world pandemic in the show's universe, stop trying to make Randy speak this witty social commentary like you did in the cred special please.
Why do South Park antis always assume Cartman is meant to be a character the audience is supposed to agree with? I feel the show makes it pretty clear he's supposed to be seen as an unlikable asshole with even his closest friends often questioning why they continue to hang out with him. Of course, there are people who do think he's correct when he says bigoted bullshit but those people always seem to already hold bigoted beliefs themselves and can't recognize that they're being made fun of.

Of all the characters to hate, you hate the character that you are the least supposed to hate. Congratulations Anon.
You wanna know why I think Bunny is overrated? Because when you think about Butters as a character, he's kind of a shithead and is *incredibly* annoying— basically the epitome of r/NiceGuy. People write him as "uwu I'm harmless" when he's NOT. He's canonically slain an entire ocean liner with one shot, like holy shit. He might be ten years old canonically but Butters is a shitty person and he sucks, stop making him out to be all soft and harmless when he isn't. Also Kenny just deserves better. Kenny deserves better than that because he's actually a decent character— both morally and explicitly stated in the show's antics. He and Butters DO NOT belong together, they are not soulmates. I can't get over the fact that people waterdown how shitty Butters is most of the time just so they can fit him with Kenny. That's not how this works, stop characterizing him so awfully. He's a bad person and he deserves to be alone.

I know that people made South Park win on that queer media poll as a joke but I think considering it queer media in general ignores its impact on trans people, especially trans women.
Look, my blog will tell you that I am anything but a South Park hater, but one of the best ways to be a fan of a piece of media is to point out that, yes, it can be dogshit on the way it treats certain topics and groups of people and there should be a wide agreement that, despite as much they hate each other, both Seth MacFarlane and Tratt are equally as bad with writing trans characters and I'm tired of people defending "Ms. Garisson's Fancy New Vagina" while criticizing "Quagmire's Dad" when they both equally as bad.
Garisson's trans arc plataformed a lot of harmful transphobic stereotypes that harm and dehumanize trans women to this day and makes trans eggs scared to come out because of that. Having the balls to call it queer media because of that is like spitting on trans women's faces.
Now, to be more positive, Trey and Matt did support gay marriage in a time that was controversial to do in the mainstream, that's something they deserve their own flowers in my opinion.
