Hahahaha Yeah Toothless can be pretty simple and really fun to draw sometimes! it’s fun to try and draw him making different/weird faces, from different angles, and doing unconventional dragon things, heh!
I will have to say that he can be unpredictably difficult sometimes, though. Sometimes He’ll look like this for me:
and then there are those days where he looks:
But the hardest dragon character has to be Stormfly(deadly nadders)! That super plump face and spiked head combination is so unbelievably difficult to draw for some reason….
AS for the human characters, I decided to do a little test and list a bunch of them in order of easiest to hardest (sorta).
Astrid is actually easier to draw than Hiccup, making her the easiest. I think it’s cause she has less details on her clothes and Hiccup has some sort of “flair” thing going on I dunno what it is exactly Hiccup is second easiest though, especially considering how much I draw him.
After them, it’s Tuffnut and Ruffnut (in that order). Tuffnut’s just got a super fun face and fun dreadlocks, so he seems easier to draw. I love their postures.
Then there’s Snotlout. His horns and sometimes his smile are the hard parts.
And finally Fishlegs. He’s the hardest in the group cause it’s a bit hard to draw his face at certain angles without losing his characteristic features. I love drawing his body, though!
And I did an itty bitty bonus with some adults just because.
Gobber is the easiest. I dunno why, he just is, haha. (His arm can be pretty hard, though.)
Stoick is easier than Valka, facial wise. Aside from his (pretty intricate) beard, his face is a very solid structure, where hers is very elegant and almost alien, nothing I have ever seen on a character before, but I love it. Also she has some sort of “flair” thing going on I dunno what it is exactly.
I will say her clothes are easier to draw than his, though. (or at least more fun)
I intend on drawing these two a lot more in the future. I do love them!
Trust me, it took me a while to get to this point when it comes to drawing people (and I still have a ways to go), they are not easy! With practice, you’ll get there too! I believe in you, friend!! :D
