life update
i feel the need to just put this out there, not necessarily to look for pity but just bc. Idk
My dad was diagnosed w cancer last September, and last Monday he was placed on hospice. He's barely responsive currently and will probably die in the next few days. It sucks!!! It's the worst!! It's not fair and it's too soon and it all happened so fast.
I'm doing good, all things considered. I'm with family and have a lot of support. I haven't even been crying that much. It doesn't feel all that real, and maybe that's because the person my dad is mostly gone. Idk it's just a lot.
But I thought to post this here cuz I saw that poll that was like "how homophobic is your dad" and they had reblogs turned off but i thought it would be fun to tell this story:
when I came out to my dad as bi (unplanned, we were alone in a car together) he immediately said "You know I am too right?" and then immediately followed that up with "So do you like lipstick or butch?"
My dad was a closeted queer man/ally in the most "learned about this stuff in the 80s" way possible. Very supportive of trans people but using archaic terms, etc. The fruitiest "straight" man there ever was. God I'm gonna miss him so much.
