Dearest Gentle Reader

Did you miss me?

That’s right, there is a new season upon us, and with it comes a new round of last season’s most talked about social event—the Bridgerton Kink Meme.

This author was sorely disappointed in the lack of debauchery this social season, and the kink meme is the perfect place for our favourite members of the ton to live out their most depraved fantasies. And this author means to report every second of it. This year promises to reveal even more sordid stories than the last.

The event will begin on April 8 and will run for one month

We’re Live!

Hello, world! We at OFIC Magazine are thrilled to announce the launch of our new lit mag. Our aim is to bridge the gap between literary and fandom spheres.

About Us:

OFIC Magazine is a quarterly publication with a simple goal: to promote the original work of fanauthors whose aesthetics and interests may not align with the genres of traditional publishing, but whose work still aspires to literary aims—work that may be dark or grotesque, unabashedly joyful, or just too filthy for the general population. We publish work that can’t fit anywhere else. Read more about us here.

What is OFIC?

What’s special about the word “ofic” is that it’s short for “original fiction,” but only in contrast to fanfiction. The fanfic-ofic divide dichotomizes fiction into two categories: work that openly acknowledges the canon from which a work was transformed, and everything else. More questions? Check out our FAQ or ask us here.

Our Aesthetic:

We welcome work that may, in another time, have been referred to as “lemons.” We enjoy everything from smut with emotional resonance to character exploration genfic. We like happy endings, sad ones, bittersweet or ambiguous ones. We do romance; we do heartbreak. We want the dark twisted stuff, the hurt with comfort, the hurt without comfort, the light fluffy “and they were roommates” AUs. We’re not so big on plot. Mostly, we want work that makes us feel things.

Dearest Reader,

It is This Author’s great pleasure to announce this year’s Valentine’s Day festivities.

It is plain to see that anyone who is anyone will be attending the Bridgerton K*nkmeme this year, and such an event promises to end in a scandal.

For one week only, from February 14th to February 21st, members of the ton will engage in all kinds of sordid debauchery, and you, dear reader, are invited to participate!

Of course, with any social event, there are certain rules that need to be abided by—we do want everyone to have a good time, after all, and we can’t have anyone getting hurt.

What will our beloved heroes and heroines get up to when they think no one is watching? One thing is for certain, This Author sees all, and nary a heated encounter will go unnoticed by yours truly.

The Banned Together Bingo is coming your way!

Do you enjoy creating fanwork with elements that were once or may still be considered taboo? Are you tired of finding fandom content blacklisted by the majority of fandom communities and events because it’s “immoral” or “illegal”? Have you repeatedly encountered censorship masquerading as “moral protection” in fandom? Would you enjoy the challenge of producing fan content with prompts from real censors like these?

This bingo aims to shamelessly celebrate fanworks featuring banned topics while educating participants on the long, absurd, ongoing history of censorship. All you have to do is create a fanwork around the given bingo prompt and tag the work appropriately. Here, you won’t be asked to justify why you wrote a particular ship or about a particular subject, nor will you be harassed or suspended for exploring matters of a less-than-savory nature. Just be courteous to your moderators and other participants, and have fun creating whatever your id, your mind, or your heart desires!

Some FAQs about the upcoming kinkmeme!

Stuff that you can do and people always seems to forget

You can write non-smut stuff.

You can post fills unprompted.

You can fill your own prompt

You can fill a prompt that already has another fill

You can add more content warning tags to your prompt or fill than those strictly required.

How do I sign up?

You don’t! To participate you’ll just have to comment anonymously on the Dreamwidth post I’ll open the day of the beginning!

If you’ve never used dreamwidth before this is an handy guide! You also don’t need a dreamwidth account to participate!

Can I post this on ao3?

Yes, but please do it anonymously while the kinkmeme is open. To post something anonymously on Ao3 you have to add your fic in the collection called “anonymous” and you can remove the anonymity (when the kinkmeme is finished) by simply removing your fic from that collection.

How about fanarts?

Yes! You need to host the image somewhere else and put a link in the comments because you can’t upload images on dreamwidth anon comments unfortunately, but fanarts are very welcome.

So it has to be smut?

No, not really. It usually is dirty, filthy porn but there’s nothing requiring that. If you just want to prompt Memori doing the dishes go for it. Sure it’s sold as a dirty smutty Kink Meme but if you’re jonsing for a little Bellina with Bellamy making Gina a flower crown then go for it. I totally encourage that with all my shriveled black heart. This is to have fun, however that shows up for you.

What if the prompt I want to write has already been filled?

Fill it anyway! Just do not reply to the fill, but reply to the prompt itself so it will create a new thread and it will be easier for everyone to read!
