If people absolutely must let someone but Finn define Finn, why is it that they’ll go for Kylo Ren’s opinion - the actual villain of the story - and that of random Stormtrooper #357 - who only exists for Finn to fight him and then get killed?
Why not Poe Dameron’s opinion?
Or General Organa’s?
Why is it ‘traitor’ and not ‘good man’?
Why is it ‘Finn ran away’ and not ‘Finn was brave’?
Why is it ‘Finn committed treason’ and not ‘Finn renounced (or rejected or rebelled against)’?
Why is it that this fandom insists that very people and mindset that Finn rejects, the actual bad guys, are the ones who still have a right to define him and not the people Finn chooses to associate with?
Is it because ultimately to this fandom Finn’s choices doesn’t really matter?
Because they sure as hell won’t let him define himself either.
