Welcome Kentucky, your governor fucking rules
Wait what pact thing?
so several regional groups of US states have started signing pacts with each other to form economic blocs so they can coordinate transitioning out of shutdown so that they don’t just go accidentally infecting each other again and putting everything right back to square one.
the East and West Coast Blocs are already up and running, and yesterday all of the Great Lakes area states (and also Kentucky for some reason) signed an agreement of our own and formed the first Midwest Bloc!
I’m not sure why Kentucky is here but welcome I guess??? the more the merrier

I don't want to give them more publicity than they already have or will receive but have you seen the potentially controversial and poor decision coming from a Midwest state and something that a certain industry wants to be the first to do and what the state governor is saying? I am scared if it happens what will occur....
Yeah, I have, fuck that shit. I’m scared too. Everywhere but New York, we’re kind of doing it, we’re managing okay-ish, now is not the time to let up.

Where were you mentioned related to Wikipedia on the WordPress?
I wasn’t mentioned per se, but I did appear on a video-podcast about Wikipedia and the pandemic!

Hi,
This copy of an email sent to University of Nebraska students and potentially faculty and staff might be related to an update I sent as an ask earlier. The ask included information from the City of Omaha website....

The Navajo Nation is getting slammed by COVID-19, worse than other communities due to systemic structural inequality and years of oppression. This is a relief fund that - if you have anything to spare - I hope you’ll donate to.

Over 220 people in Douglas County, Omaha (Nebraska) have now tested positive for COVID-19. The youngest appears to be 12, the oldest is 104. There are six people who have died. The Douglas County Health Department wants people to help bring COVID-19 under control by "helping children practice social distancing, play at home (but not in group sports), help senior citizens stay at home by shopping for them, and exercise at home or with proper social distancing." (Information from my usual source.)
Thank you!

Can people get COVID-19 more than once? Why is there such a high rate of tests where people don't test positive but they probably are positive?
The former is a question science hasn't answered yet, but given how the other members of the coronavirus family work, it is likely that people will only be immune for a limited time. The latter is inherent to how testing works - even a gold standard test has some false negatives and false positives. Also people tend to run away when getting a nasopharyngeal swab, due to it sucking a lot, so that decreases the sensitivity of the test.

I was noodling around on the wordpress site and saw your post presaging the format change, with your video podcast (is it still a podcast if it's filmed???) with Wikipedia, and that was a FASCINATING discussion of what y'all are doing to/with data to organize and synthesize it for public use. Thank you for the work you're doing with that project and the newsletter
Aw, thanks! I'm so glad you like it.

If people are able to go to appointments and are one on one with a provider do they still need to wear masks other than in the waiting room?
Yes. The provider is a high risk for infection.

I can't tell if it is in place for the whole state but the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services rolled out a pilot program for first responders who may have been exposed to COVID-19. It sounds like first responders can quarantine at participating hotels if they can't quarantine at home. There is also a list of hospital beds still available as well as other information on the City of Omaha website I have sent you previously, but I think some updates are not being immediately posted.
Ty!

Are you still answering asks and posting submissions?

The U. S. Olympic Swim Trials have been rescheduled for next June in Omaha (Douglas County), Nebraska. The Douglas County Health Department wants people to "stay home as much as possible, work from home (if they can), and shop alone when they have to shop." There have been six deaths in Douglas County and there are almost 200 people who have tested positive including a 12 year old. The City parks are closed until April 30th. (This information is from the City of Omaha website I have sent you.)
