My first encounter with Terry Pratchett was The Colour of Magic, as read on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour. I was a young journalist and I reached out to his publisher for an interview, and thus became the first journalist to interview Terry Pratchett, in Bertorelli's Italian restaurant, in Gower Street. (We remembered it as a Chinese Restaurant in Goodge Street, demonstrating either the fallibility of memory or our fondness for Chinese food.) We became friends.
I was lucky enough to read Terry's books as he wrote them, to become one of his beta readers, and then to collaborate with him. Terry had a brilliant eye for the places where reality and narrative tradition intersect: he had a science fiction writer's mind, let loose on a fantasy world, and he loved to explain and show how things came to be. The last time we saw each other he told me I had to read a book about feeding Nelson's navy – and I still wonder, had he lived, about the Discworld novel he would have written, about ships, and naval battles and all, and the lessons he would have taught us. Because at his best, Terry was a teacher. The kind who makes you laugh while simultaneously realising that everything you have taken for granted so far is utterly wrong. I miss him.

Using the bathroom in general is a human right and should be enshrined as such and I'm not joking. Too many groups of people are denied bathroom breaks or the use of bathrooms entirely--disabled people, blue-collar workers, children, homeless people, prisoners, students, the elderly. I'm surely missing other groups. Not using the bathroom when needed can cause serious, long-term damage, not to mention death. Free, clean, accessible bathrooms should be available everywhere. It's fucking cruel to deny someone the use of the bathroom, regardless of the reasoning. I'd rather every student in the world goof off and every homeless person make a mess and every worker "steal company time" than let one person suffer because they're denied the right to fucking pee in peace.

MC: *shows Satan their phone*
Satan: *eye twitching*
[A Moment Later at the Demon Lord’s Castle]
Satan: “Barbatos I need you to open a portal to the human world.”
Barbatos: “And what is your reason?”
Satan: “Hunting.”
Barbatos: “And you think I’d allow that.”
Satan: “They’re cyber bullying MC.”
Barbatos: “I see.”
Barbatos: “I shall be accompanying you then.”
Satan: “Good, let’s go.”
[Later at the House of Lamentation]
Satan: *knocking on MC’s door*
MC: “Come in!”
Satan: “You seem much happier? Is everything okay now?”
MC: “Yeah! They apologized and explained they were being emotional and taking it out on me. It’s nice to see people can admit their wrong, that rarely happens on the internet.”
Satan: *smiling knowing he’s the one who sent that message the bully is long gone*
Satan: “That’s wonderful. Let me know if they or anyone else crosses the line like that again.”
MC: “I will. Thanks for buying me icecream.”
Satan: *smiling* “Anything for you.”
[Later at the Demon Lord’s Castle]
Diavolo: “My favorite dish! How delightful! Thank you Barbatos, you must be in a good mood today. May I ask what has you in such high spirits?”
Barbatos: “I simply had a bit of fun earlier.”
Diavolo: “Oh? I wish you’d invited me.”
Barbatos: “That certainly would’ve brought about the end of times.”
Diavolo: “What exactly did you do????”
