Forever thinking about Fatz treating Mitzi, Dook, and Beach Bear like the kids he never had. Thinking about him goofing off during practice and pulling Mitzi into a silly dance during one of their duets. Thinking about him play-wrestling Beach Bear to the ground when the polar bear's mouth gets a little too smart. Thinking about him giving Dook a hard time when he messes up an introduction, but still giving him the chance to take a breath and try again.
Thinking about him always checking on Mitzi to make sure she's taking care of herself between all of her extracurriculars. Thinking about him giving Beach Bear pointers on how to make it through college without drowning. Thinking about him sitting with Dook under the stars after work and exchanging stories from back home in Louisiana when they're both feeling homesick.
Thinking about Fatz Geronimo, for all his posturing as a suave free agent, genuinely loving and caring about his fellow band members, and knowing that he needs them just as much as they need him because they bring out his very best.

I've always liked the idea that Billy Bob and Looney Bird are lifelong friends, but Billy Bob mentioning in a Smitty's Super Service Station skit that he hired Looney Bird specifically to guard the secret formula for the gas-a-hol makes me think that Looney Bird just being Some Dude who just... never left is a pretty funny alternative. Like, he knew Looney Bird in passing because their neighborhood was small, and he felt like his curmudgeonly but eccentric neighbor would be an ideal choice for keeping suspicious folk away from his invention, at least until he could afford a proper guard. Then he blinks and 40 years have passed and they're platonically married and own a home together and have basically been a package deal since 1980.

The girl and mom I gave the tour to stopped by the prize counter to cash in their tickets and the mom said I had made her daughter's whole day. This is what I'm talking about!!!! Making kids who are just like I was feel happy and seen!!!!

I'm gonna say more on this because like. I'm so incredibly happy. I was absolutely dreading this summer because I thought I was going back to a grueling, dead-end job I hated, that I was going to have to put my personal happiness on the backburner for a place I planned on ditching in less than a year. Never in a million years did I think I'd end up here, but you know what? I wouldn't trade it for the world.
I know it's a silly job at an arcade. I know I'm one of maybe two people who actually want to be here each day. But I don't lose sleep over the dread of going to work the next day. I don't feel sick to my stomach when my alarm goes off in the morning. I'm actually looking at the schedule to see if there are any extra shifts to pick up instead of crossing my fingers and hoping I'm not scheduled.
It doesn't even feel like work, even when I'm wiping down machines or vacuuming the floor. I felt BAD the other day because I felt like I was just goofing off when I should've been at work when, in fact, I was in the middle of restocking the prize counter because I WAS at work!
Anyway. I feel like something has clicked into place. I'm now an active part of keeping the Rock-afire Explosion's legacy alive and I wouldn't give that up for anything. ❤️
You know what, guys? I think I might like my job or something.
