I really enjoyed this show, though I am disappointed by the lack of coverage on it. (I suppose it’s not that abnormal right now but I do wish that more people were talking about it) The show is hilarious, well acted, and has amazing costumes. It’s not your typical period drama, from the almost complete disregard of actual facts to the absurd language, it draws you in immediately. The cast is more diverse than I thought it’d be, which was pleasantly surprising. I’m glad that since they weren’t going for accuracy anyways, they kind of just said “fuck it” and made the costumes and casting somewhat modern.
It’s definitely not for everyone, but if you like the Favourite, or raunchy comedies, then you’ll love it. I personally loved almost all the characters, as they really spent a lot of time developing almost all of them. I didn’t think I’d end up almost liking Peter, and yet I do. Count Orlo and Leo are definitely favorites, and I loved seeing Catherine’s progression as well.
Overall: I loved the show and hope that more people check it out soon!!
The way how Jughead went from villanizing Veronica, seeing her as a dark spawn of her criminal parents, spoiled and pretentious daddy’s girl to portraying her as a moral compass and kind of the only person with conscious in his latest story is a subtle, beautiful and very telling slow burn development trope I’d love to appreciate if RVD writers were more into long term planning or any planning at all.
