It had taken the small group the entire morning. Just the courier, the chief mechanic Loyal, and his apprentice Jack. Using what supplies they had at the moment while working tirelessly inside the stuffy aircraft hangar in nearly 96-degree weather until their muscles strained and ached, but they had finally gotten the broken solar rays fixed once again.
Fortunately for them and their sore bodies, they had decided that it was time for a well-earned break, just a moment of rest before they return the repaired panels to the solar array.
Jack asked the courier with a tired smile if he would like to join them for lunch in the mess hall, making an emphasis on how they were serving brahmin stew today. Buck just chuckled good-naturedly before he told them to go on ahead while he stepped outside to cool down, promising that he’ll meet up with them in a bit. The younger Boomer looked like he wanted to protest when Loyal decided to interrupt him, reminding the boy that if he doesn’t hurry up that all the vanilla pudding will be gone by the time he gets there.
Leaving the two other men to have their lunch break, the courier decided to sit at one of the empty picnic tables near the hanger, seeing as how it was an absolutely beautiful day to be outside and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. The only other people around were two guards who appeared to be on break as well and were currently having a conversation, or at least he thought so. The fast-talking blonde was saying something about a Milly girl and what he was thinking about getting for her birthday, while the sturdier-looking one just nodded absentmindedly, barely listening, seeming more preoccupied with fishing out a packet of cigarettes from the caverns of his coat pocket.
Buck regarded them with a small wave, and the two returned it, albeit with a bit of hesitation. News spreads fast among the Boomers. An outsider was finally among them, and although they trust Pearl’s judgment, some were still uncertain about the strange dark-haired man and his true intentions.
The Nellis Air Force Base was an absolute sight to behold, and the fact that he was one of the first outsiders to step foot inside it made it even more special. He had made a promise to Pearl that he would do everything in his power to help her people in any way he could. The kindly elder of the Boomers seemed pleased when he expressed such interest that she put him straight to work, with Raquel keeping a watchful eye over him of course.
Buck had only hoped to show that not everyone outside these gates was savage.
Unscrewing the cap off of his Vault 13 canteen, he took a few large gulps of purified water, which helped to soothe his parched throat. Sighing in relief as the breeze continued to cool his heated skin.
At the corner of his eye, did he see the approaching figure of a woman. She didn’t seem to notice him as she slumped onto the seat beside him.
With a polite grin, the courier cleared his throat to get her attention, before offering his canteen to her.
“Water?”

soft caring sentence compilation
As soon as Buck saw Kira’s head pop out from underneath the mountain of blankets, looking as snug as a bug in a rug, waves of warm laughter managed to escape from his ever-grinning lips, and her comment only made him laugh harder. She subtly reminded him of a mole rat pup, eagerly digging its head out from the fertile ground to greet the new morning. It was absolutely adorable in his opinion.
“Well, I’m glad you're comfortable!” He tried to control his giggles as he spoke, his smile was big and his eyes twinkled with mirth. It was rather cold tonight, she most likely wanted to bundle up with the spare bedding that they had. “Here, let me see if I can find some more blankets for you!”
Sometimes it’s hard to remember that this silly man is the prominent Courier Six.
