Miscommunication: theodore nott headcanons
theodore nott x reader

How he even got to this point is something that confuses everyone.聽
Surprisingly the one-word/one-sentence answer is working for him and you're still acknowledging his presence.聽
While you walk with him back from class you break the silence by asking "So why do you walk me to class all the time?"
He shrugs while blushing a little and doesn't say anything.
You're a little annoyed by his constant avoidance of this question but you carry on the conversation anyway and talk about your Hogsmeade plans. Your friends were thinking about going together as a group (plus a guy that he sees you talking to sometimes at meals).聽
He starts to feel a little possessive of you because he doesn't like the idea of you hanging out with this guy (even if it's not alone).聽
He makes an annoyed face and says "Why?"
"Why what?" You respond back confused by the question.聽
"Why are you hanging out with that guy."
The question shocks you, "Because he's my friend." You say it like it's obvious (which it is).
"He likes you more than that and I don't feel comfortable with you talking to him when he flirts with you the whole time."
"He does not flirt with me and even if he did why would you even care? You don't get a say in who I get to spend time with."
His face becomes even more annoyed. "Why would I not care? He shouldn't be all over you when you're seeing someone."聽
You're even more shocked/confused this time. "Who am I seeing? No one's even asked me out."
He gets a little quiet and you can tell he's feeling a little sad by the statement. "Well, I thought we were together or seeing each other at least. It's obvious I like you."聽
While you are happy about him admitting his feelings, you're still annoyed about what he said. "It is not obvious at all that you like me. All you do is walk me to class and sit next to me. You don't show any emotions at all or even say anything that would give me any sort of indication that you like me."聽
"I'm trying my best. I thought it was obvious because I always walk you and carry your stuff for you. I thought that meant something to you."
You sighed, "It does, but every time I tried to ask you why you did it you would never answer. I thought you were trying to spare my feelings."
He shakes his head quickly, "No I really like you. It's just hard for me to express how I feel. I'm trying to show you." He says this quietly and you realize this is probably the most you've ever heard him speak.聽
"Well, maybe next Hogsmeade trip we can go together." You smile at him while you say it.
"As a date?" He says with a small smile. You know that if you hadn't focused on his face at that moment you would have missed it.聽
"Yeah, as a date."

Theo does not believe in romantic love. (his parent's relationship was not the best example)
He doesn't pay attention to girls in a romantic sense usually only talking to friends like pansy and daphne.
When Theo first sees you, whether that be in the library or class, he feels different. He's not sure if it's because he thinks that you're beautiful or it's something else.
From his lack of romantic experience, he doesn't know how to approach you. So instead of going up to talk to you like a normal person, he chose to blankly stare at you from afar.
This does not come off right, probably because he has an RBF, so you think you did something to make him mad.
Theo, not knowing what else to do goes and asks his friends for advice. This could be a good or bad idea, solely from the fact that his friends don't have the most relationship experience either.
They probably tell Theo to go up and flirt with you a little and then ask you out if he feels like you and him are hitting it off.
This is already a problem for Theo because he can barely communicate, let alone flirt. So he goes with the next best option and takes your friend's seat in a class that you share.
He doesn't say hi or acknowledge you at all he just sits there while you wonder why he changed his seat halfway into the year after glaring at you for weeks on end.
You side-eye him throughout class and he sees that as a positive sign hoping you feel the same for him.
You eventually confront him after a couple days of this and ask him what you did wrong and why he's mad at you.
He's immediately confused, "you didn't do anything wrong".
When you start to question him again he grabs your books and proceeds to walk you to your next class.
You stand in shock for a couple seconds until he turns around and looks at you with a blank stare and gestures towards the direction of your class.
You sigh out of annoyance but you gladly walk side by side with him anyway. He doesn't say anything the whole time but he feels better about talking to you next time.
Maybe he'll be able to say more than a sentence. (probably not)

general theodore nott headcanons
(remember this is just how I view his character. obviously, not everyone sees him the same. If you want me to write his character differently just request it.)

I always saw theo as more of a quiet type. He keeps to himself when around people he isn't comfortable with.
This is due to the way his family life is like. He lost his mother before he started Hogwarts and was left alone with his death eater father who didn't care for him.
This causes him to not express many emotions or talk a lot. Which is pretty difficult for the people around him except his close friends.
Because of this he usually spent time alone reading whatever he could find in the library at school or at home. Or hanging out with his friends in the common room.
While he is close friends with the other Slytherin boys like Draco and Blaise, he is never as loud as them. They really had to make an effort to get to know him before he was willing to show his personality. (even then it's minimal)
Since he never shows his emotions when it all finally builds up he lashes out at people. This is when he starts saying things that he shouldn't and will later regret.
Smokes a lot and doesn't care if it's bad for him. Sees it as an outlet and also as a way to avoid talking to people.
Even though he's seen as very attractive by the school he doesn't talk to girls romantically. Either because of him being anti-social or just the fact that he doesn't care for the ones who are asking him out.
Even though it might not seem like it, he really cares about his friends. It's hard to get close to him but once you have he's committed to you completely and will stay by your side.
