Years ago, perhaps, events as these would have made Frank feel uneasy. His voice was too often too rough and his words too harsh, but he’d changed. Because he needed to, but also because he’d seen kindness in the eyes of a girl as magnetic as Alice and had felt inspired, in a way. Now, they were FUN, now they were INSPIRING, just another reason to keep fighting for a world where these kind of things could happen without WORRY. He’d lost his fiance ( a word he could describe Alice with now, which made him smile widely ) but she’d found him again, and with her hands taking his, he felt even better. “Definitely the latter — this house is begging us to explore it and find a … private place.”

Alice pulled Frank closer to her before kissing him quickly from his jaw to his ear before she whispered, “I’ll go down on you first if you can hold out until we find the Minister’s bedroom??” She giggled at the words that came out of her mouth though she was used to talking to Frank this way -- a way really only reserved for him that only came out naturally for him -- it was still a bit silly. Though his presence always made her feel like she was g l o w i n g, like she had a forcefield around her that made her feel INVINCIBLE, like if she fought the world by his side they’d win. He was safe while still being the most challenging person she’d ever met in her life, but there was no greater adventure than getting to know and navigate Frank Longbottom day by day.

That’s when she knew she wanted to marry him, no matter what the world’s conditions were, when saving the world only meant so much compared to spending the rest of the short time you spend doing so with someone you love. Being together in every final way as the world burned meant SOMETHING, Alice was convinced. She knew she wanted to be with Frank until the end, the very bitter very end.

It was rare that they had a spare moment to themselves when they weren’t saving a world that wanted to desperately implode on itself. Perhaps it made her selfish to want to SAVOR this moment as much as she possibly could, that she wanted to make it a memory only they could remember when she pulled him away from the guests of the house.

“This house is beautiful though, Kingsley told me he’s going to live in here one day and I told him that he’d better not host stuffy birthday parties like this.”

Alice was happy that got him, and reached into her small purse as she moved her back away from the crowd, starting to take a few steps towards the outskirts of the event. “It’s from America -- when I had a mission there, I picked up something called a ... VAPE ... this strain is called Bubblegum OG, I believe. It’s amazing over there they’ve got flavored shit and the sort, Sirius, it’s like Fortescues for pot, California.”

“text her,” he said making a face of shock that slowly morphed into a coy smile; the kind adolescents get when there crush walks by in the halls. “i don’t want you to do anything that would distract you from me now, except for maybe this cake” he walks over to her, the distance isn’t far only a step or two away. “you know i never was one for baking. tsp tbsp. i can’t make heads or tails of it.” he takes another bite from his cake then offers to get her another slice.

“Or I’ll text her for you, or maybe I can pass her a note from you, or maybe a patronus, we could get creative with woo-ing Bells,” Alice teased, but she though it was cute, how he liked her, how he wasn’t just the heir Lestrange, Pureblood Prince that she’d heard so much about growing up -- her father’s stories on other Pureblood families in France were never short of information. It was only through ACTUAL INTERACTION that she got to see the human side of what her father hardly mentioned, as opposed to hard facts. “Fine, I’ll gladly soak up the attention seeing as my fiánce is doing his job enough for both of us, but, when I see her later tonight I’ll let her know you were looking for her, yeah??” Alice smiled at Rod & the cake, “oh, thank you!! I’d love another slice, maybe if you brought Bellatrix some cake she’d notice.”

I didn’t think you were cultured enough to know French,” Alice teased, pressing her tongue to the inside of her cheek because it was one of the more SARCASTIC jokes she made that she felt was just a bit r i s k y. Even if Alice wasn’t prejudiced, even if she wasn’t one of the Purebloods who fought for blood purity -- it didn’t mean making classist jokes were okay. Even if Mary was her friend, a good friend, someone she would protect with her life -- she still had a privilege that Mary didn’t in the Wizarding World. Even in jest, was it really her place to make a joke about it? Maybe she was overthinking it.
