Similan Liveaboard Diving Trips in Thailand

Deep Six! obviously, It got its name from being deep and at Island 6, which was renamed Island 7 🤔
Deep six is the one of the most exciting #divesites at The #SimilanIslands.
Deep six dive site is not for the beginners but could be challenging for intermediate level #scubadivers with the topography, visibility and wonderfully diverse #marinelife.
At the end of the dive, it is usual to swim out north into open water in order to be picked up by the boat. This is because the rocks in shallow water and the waves they cause make getting to close difficult and hazardous.
There is plenty to see here at Deep Six, but for some reason, there are very few #sightings of either #MantaRays or #WhaleSharks. They have been seen, but generally pass by on other Similan dive sites during the #divingseason. However, there is still plenty of life all the way down this exciting stack of #underwater boulders. Starting with other #sharks and #rays, it is not uncommon to see Whitetip Reef Sharks or Blue-Spotted Stingrays either resting or swimming. Both species usually hang around until divers approach too near, then they swim away slowly. Medium-sized reef and schooling pelagic bony fish are all over the place at different depths here at Deep Six. Divers can expect to come across the likes of Rainbow Runners, Sweetlips , Fusiliers, Barracuda and Trevally to name just a few. The #Sweetlipsfish are among fish who like to hide in the caverns and sheltered areas, and there are lots more species to see in there as well. Examples of smaller fish and invertebrates sheltering from danger are Frogfish, #Pipefish, Snapper , Boxfish, #RedFire, lobsters and shrimps.
Diving at the Similan Islands is an experience most people will never forget, and Deep Six is among the most exciting sites here.

Not everybody likes night diving. It’s very different from diving in daylight, and some divers may feel claustrophobic, or others may have already started drinking alcohol before sunset. However, there are many scuba divers who really enjoy night diving, especially at coral reefs in Thailand. Here the water and air are both warm enough for night divers to be able focus on and enjoy the marine life and not have to think about being cold. Most of our Similan liveaboard safaris offer up to four dives every day and it would make sense that the final dive on most days is at night. But not all of them do, and those that do limit the night dives per trip for good reason. It’s also a common myth that OW divers aren’t certified to take part in night dives. This article is about night diving at Similan Islands. Which trips and who can join them.

Had a tough couple of dives today. Strong currents, reached some limits, got cramp, and came out with pounding headache from the oxygen restriction.....the whole time I was reminding myself that this is all valuable experience. I can learn from this. It will make me a better diver. Why else have I done the qualifications if not to improve and see progress??
A year or so ago that would have been a pity party for one 😂🤨 but now I know I don't do any growing in my comfort zone, so I stopped hanging out there so often 🤙🏾 Don't get the wrong idea - I BLOODY LOVE diving, but I'm trying to make a point 😎

Koh Bon and Koh Tachai Dive Sites
Koh Bon and Koh Tachai are two remote islands which sit alone and between The #SimilanIslands chain and the Surin Islands. Koh Bon is nearer to The Similans, and Koh Tachai, a little further north, is nearer to Koh Surin. While they both offer excellent diving, and arguably the best chances of #MantaRay sightings, they share both similarities and differences. Both islands have healthy #corals which support lots of fish #invertebrates and even #marinereptiles. The sea conditions are also similar, regarding depths, visibility and currents. In addition, they are ideal for speedboat day trips from Khao Lak diving centres. They aren't as far as Surin's dive sites, yet offer something different from The Similans' nine main islands. Koh Bon differs from Koh Tachai in that it has no beach. While it has more diving space 😁 underwater and the famous wall, Koh Tachai has this wonderful, pristine beach along its eastern coastline.

Skincare aficionados and beachgoers alike may have to think twice before slathering on their favorite sunscreen if they’re headed to Key West, Florida.
Evidence suggests these chemicals can harm the development of corals and make them more prone to bleaching. When corals bleach, they essentially start to die because they’ve lost the algae they rely on to produce food. Florida’s corals form the only shallow-water reefs off the coast of the continental United States. They’ve been suffering from disease, and, like reefs around the world, face the dual threat of rising ocean temperatures and acidity. #Chemicals from sunscreens that harm corals just worsen their situation.
