Self Evaluation:
Section 1:
-Pattern Cutting; In this unit I have learnt how to become sustainable within fashion with fashion waste. Before the project started, I learnt about how ech fabrics are different with the movement and sewing style. So, when I chose my garments, I thought about the fabric type and how it would act during construction. I feel better about my textile pieces as I tried something new to make my vision and ideas come to life. I learnt how to weave, card weaving, and pleating. Weaving was a main component in my final design and garment. I learnt that it is a long-time consuming process, however it made the effect I was looking for with a nice finish to represent bricks to my garment. I learnt how to unpick a garment and create something new out of it to reduce the waste of textiles and fabric waste from the industry. I look at new things from garments to turn features such as belt loops, waistbands into my design and reusing old zips from preloved clothing. I want to keep experimenting and designing using secondhand clothing and turn the fabrics into latest ideas to reduce waste and it also has innovative ideas from seeing and understanding the construction of several types of clothing.
-Illustration; I worked on a clean and less messy style for illustration working with a new concept and skills to challenge my style of illustration. I learnt how to be precise and make a simpler illustration but make it still unique and stand out. For my final illustrations, I experimented using denim as my final media which I have not used before. It was quite fiddly and time consuming, however it left a clean and effective way to keep my illustrations realistic and the factors I wanted. I also produced new concepts for my illustration style using statures as a source of inspiration, I took this further and coloured the skin tones in an aged look with a bronze statue. These look effective and give my illustration the final look it needs. I kept the faces quite natural as well as in previous projects I went over the top. But since this upcycling project focused on architecture, I wanted a sharp clean finish for my collection.
-Marketing and Promotion; I learnt a new easy for my commercial looking at using my photoshoot and my garment to be the main highlight in my commercial displaying the time, the skill and effort from my long weeks. I wanted to keep the theme of smart and clean finish through all my elements during this project. For my photoshoot I was so grateful for working in a professional environment with working with photography students to make my photos bold and have a finished high-quality look to them to really highlight my garment. I tried several editing styles for my commercial to keep my progress going to keep pushing my skills further and better quality for each project.
Section 2:
-Pattern cutting; even though my pattern cutting was a time consuming and lengthy process I love the outcome and I can see all my hard work and hours come to shape with having a bold and quirky but still structured garment. I wanted my garment to look like it was not upcycled but keep elements of my jack into my design and construction process. I feel more confident and prouder of my skills on the industrial sewing machines as I understand and control it better. I still needed to work on my garment construction as I had issues with the zip as I could not line it up at each side with the waistbands. But I felt more confident building up my garment. However, sometimes I did have the mistake of sewing on the wrong sides of the garment. But overall, I am proud of my textile pieces and how I made my very first dress.
-Illustration; I am happy I tried experimenting in a new illustration style as I pushed through using innovative ideas and medias, I am not confident in. Such as oil pastels and chalk however I used these for some of my illustrations and it turned out better than I thought with the shading and blending. There is still improvement to be considered. I tried with hands and feet illustrating them and they need improvement but look better quality than in previous projects. I still want to keep experimenting with simpler designs and a less messy approach to my work. I want to understand my style oof illustration and keep pushing forward to see new outcomes and developments in my portfolio. I can see a clear difference from when I first started to the present day.
-Marketing and Promotion; my ideas and performance went well for marketing, as my photoshoot went as planned and even better due to the help of the photography students. I want to keep developing and make my ideas stronger with powerful commercials with a story telling effect. But for this project I kept the focus on the garment detail and performance which I am happy about.
Section 3:
For my Fmp, I am looking forward to keeping pushing my creativity and skills in designing as well in garment construction. I want to keep making these one of a kind and original designs to make my portfolio stronger and interesting to view. I want to learn new techniques and harder once to see and be able to uinderstand to make my illustrations stronger and have my own style in the fashion industry. I need to keep a balance between work and my life, keeping up with targets and better time managaemment. So, I can keep experimenting further and developing more. I heve enjopyed my progress so far using new ideas and concepst I wouldnt have thought about before such as upcycling and using secondhand clothing to make a new garment to reduce the impact of textile waste. I shall keep an opn mind whilst designing and experimenting in fashion as i understand the impacts and the true cost of unsustainable fashion.

Garment description:
The simple and elegant structured silhouette displays the delicate details of architecture. Inspired from bricks and cobble, the dress stands tall, and build ups a story of textiles and denim. Sustainable and supported, my dress takes centre stage of appliques of denim pieces. Quirky and detailed waistbands and seams support the skirt panels having ocean blues of denim sew upon it. Range of denim strips mosaic the like a brick wall. White centre pieces tie up the bodice with a final addition and the simple waist loops at the back finish the design from bot back and the front.

Action Plan:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is my action plan that I developed to ensure that all of my work was completed on time. Furthermore, I aimed to make sure that I maintained on target, so I recorded what I accomplished each day of my Up-cycling project . This was extremely beneficial because this ensured that I remained on target whilst additionally enabling me to demonstrate what I did and the processes that led to the final result.

Final Six Design Boards:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are my final six design boards to show and finish off my Upcycling project. I have enjoyed making the illustrations and think they are perfect matching my garment and textile pieces. I am happy I tried a new technique for adding media with collaging with denim for these illustrations. It gives a new touch and finish with a 3D concept but still matching my themes and ideas from this project. It was a little tricky and time consuming however after seeing the result it was worth it. I also tried something new with the skin tones as I was inspired by the statues around Barnsley, so I experimented around this concept and produced this rustic and aged effect for the skin tones and this went great I used shading pencils and different tones and shades of brown colouring pencil to create this effect. Finally, I blended them both together with a white coloured pencil. I hope to keep experimenting and seeing innovative ideas and concepts for my fashion illustrations. For the design boards, I used something new as the previous design boards were finished look however for these design boards it shows a journey of my collection. I included my research work brick drawings, my photoshoot and a close of my textile pieces. I made my design boards match to show the connection of my collection Tailored Architecture.   For each board I included my specification drawings and my fashion illustrations as well.

Commercial Plan:
Tumblr media
For my commercial, I will focus on my garment and my inspiration of my dress showing glimpses of Barnsley and my textile pieces as I want to highlight the detail and hard work my efforts to construct my dress. I shall use short videos I took from walking around Barnsley as well as my photoshoot to incorporate a story of my dress construction. Another main factor I will include in my commercial is the Town Hall as it is a famous landmark and feature in Barnsley as I want to keep the connection between my themes of denim, architecture, Barnsley and Up-cycling. I will finish off my commercial with a sunset clip of Barnsley which I took off from my classroom and it will fade into the background with my music fading to the end as well. For my music I want to have a calming but effective beat with no singing just music or instruments. I shall edit my clips together and add transitions to piece together until I am happy of the result.

Commercial Clips:
These small clips are features of Barnsley and my primary resources. Through the start and finishing of this project I wanted to experiment and produce innovative ideas for my commercial as I wanted to keep pushing and experimenting with my commercials. I will edit and include these short clips into my commercial showcasing different elements and to build up the story of my dress into my commercial. I think this will make an interesting finish and create something new for my final showcase of my garment.

My Photoshoot Page
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These sketchbook pages show my final outcomes of my planning and final result of my photoshoot. At first it shows my photoshoot planning where I researched into poses, makeup, and hairstyle I wanted to display my garment in the best way. I wanted poses to be quite elegant and formal to reflect on the garment structure and design. Consequenting to, to the low hair bun to match the idea of a formal look and elegance to keep the focus and design I envisioned. Before the photoshoot I practised the makeup look and hairstyle to be prepared and ready to present my result. I produced a planning board for my outdoor photoshoot to show my model my ideas and had a set ready to show my themes and dress linked together. I made my sketchbook pages quite simple to keep the focus on each photo and how each scenery changes the vision of my dress. I was thankful to work in a professional environment with my studio indoor photos as I got the chance to work with photography students to capture the detail with their camera and skills. This was exciting communicating my ideas and this gave me a glimpse into an actual photoshoot which was fun and learning experience. I was lucky to have them edit some of my photos as well. I included these into my sketchbook as well.

Final touches to my Six illustrations:
I have enjoyed making the illustrations and think they are perfect matching my garment and textile pieces. I am happy I tried a new technique for adding media with collaging with denim for these illustrations. Finally, I blended them both together with a white coloured pencil. I hope to keep experimenting and seeing innovative ideas and concepts for my fashion illustrations. After applying their skin tones I shall next focus on my final design boards experimenting with the layout.

Final Six illustration Media:
For my final media I chose denim and collaging them onto my fashion illustrations. Here are the small clips of the process. I first used tracing paper to draw out each detail to make a small pattern piece which formed the whole illustration. Then I took several shades of denim and cut out each corresponding piece and used a different swatch for each piece I used my media experimentation to get my colour palate for each design. It was a lengthy process however it does look nice making my illustrations look perfect to match my concept and design ideas. I used double sided tape to stick it in place it was a little tricky to especially with the small strips and finer details. But I am happy with the result. I quite like the new technique for the fashion illustrations and want to keep experimenting.  I used my other chosen garment from the hospice as well to capture the tone and texture.
