New Beginnings Are Good For Everyone Ch.6

Jay's P.O.V

I just dont understand why she thinks that she has to do this. We could have easily put in another officer to go undercover and we could have got the same result. I completely understand that she has a history with him & everything but she is my partner & I just do not want to see her getting hurt & with how she said that he took the break up I am so afraid that is exactly whats going to happen. I have got to at least try & change her mind.

"Kim can I talk to you for minute?"

"Sure whats going on" She asks

"I understand your reasoning in wanting to do this but isnt there another way, we can put another officer in there & get the same result"

"Your right, We could put another officer undercover but why not put someone in that has a past with him and that knows how he acts and everything. If we put someone else in that could take so much more time and right now time is something that we cant really spare."

"I just know how you said that your past was with him & I dont want you to get into something that is going to end up bad for you, something that will get you hurt or anything"

Kim can see that worry in Jay's eyes. "Jay I will be fine. Plus I know that the team is just a text away if I feel like I am in any type of danger."

Letting out a breathe that I didnt know I was holding "Yes, we are. If every night before you go to bed after you spend the day with him, if you need someone to talk to. Just call"

"Thanks Jay, I may have to take you up on that"

As everyone is getting their stuff to head home for the night, Voight stops them one last time. "Kim, just because you have only been on the team a couple days doesnt mean anything, if at any point you feel like something is a little to far or you just cant handle something, just call anyone or just text us and we will be right there."

Kim just looks down for a second and then speaks " Thanks Sargent, this one is going to be a little tought but I will be ok, I just want to get all of these men behind bars where they belong" she says right be she starts to walk down toward her car. The way that she sees this is the sooner that she starts this the quicker that it will be over.

Kim's P.O.V.

The ride home was so quiet, left alone with my thoughts and just trying to pull myself together to get my head straight with everything that I was about to have to do. As I arrived at my apartment I knew that I had to have a game plan, you knew that he wasnt the smartest person but he also knew that after what he done to you that he wasnt just gonna buy some bull crap story, so you had to be smart about this one.

Grabbing the 6 pack of beer out of the refrigerator I head for the front door and take a huge breathe knowing that it was now or never. Sending the team a quick text saying that you were going in, I set off to do something that should have been done a long time ago.

Standing here staring at the front door knowing the only thing that i have to do is knock, but all of a sudden my arms seem so heavy for some reason. With a deep breathe to get me into the right head space, I knock on put on the fakest smile that I have ever had on my face. Waiting for him to open the door, I was getting impatient and thought that maybe I would have to try again tomorrow and that was ok with me but right as I turn to walk back to my apartment the door opens. To say that he had the expression of shock on his face would be an understatment. He looked as if he didnt know what to say so I thought that I would break the silence and maybe that would make it a little bit easier.

"I know that I am the last person you expected at your door when you opened it, but I kinda figured since we are going to be neighbors that maybe we should put that past behind us and start over again. What do you say?" I say as I hold that 6 pack of beer up

He was still a little stunned but smiled and says "Sure" He moves out the way and pushes the door open a little more so that I can make my way into the apartment. His apartment wasnt much different than mine, but you could definetly tell that it was a mans apartment. As you sit on the couch and take one of the beers out for him and then another for yourself. It was quieter now than it was at the door, you knew that one of you had to speak or you were going to get no where.

So once again I was the first one the speak "So what has brought you out here to Chicago?"

He finally finds his voice "Just a job opportunity that I couldnt say no to."

"Gotcha" I say as I took another drink of beer. Cause I knew that I was going to need this with everything that I was about do and wasnt fully mentally prepared for.

The conversation finally got to flowing and both of you were asking each other questions just catching up with each other, well he was catching up and you was just trying to get some type of information that you could give Voight. Thinking that it was time to give it a shot about asking what type of work that he was in, even though all those years ago he wouldnt tell you.

"I cant actually remember, what type of work is it that you do?"

"I am in the Shipping business, Ship packages and recieve them from different countries"

"Do you ever deliever them yourself or do you just get the prepared for the shipping?" Trying to not sound like a cop but a friend that was curious

"I usually just prepare the packages,We have other people that works for the independent owner that I am working for. What brought you out here to Chicago?"

"So its not a big company, you always said that you would never work but a big company said that they were all liars. Same as you, a job that I couldnt pass up. Better pay and better,higher up postiion."

"Yeah. Would rather work for someone that I know that I can trust that focuses on the one business he has and not a million different things. What is it that you do again?"

"I am in advertising. No that much fun but I love what I do."

"You always wanted to be a cop what happened to that?"

"Yeah, I just realized that I needed to think about something realistically and find a job that I will be able to make a life for myself."

"I can understand that. I moved here for the same reason a little more money and seems like more opportunities and little more money."

Looking at the time, realizing that you can finally leave and head home.

"Im sorry to cut this short but I have to get up early in the morning and get to work"

"You know this night that this night doesnt have to end...you could always just spend the night"

"As fun as that sounds,I dont think that is a good idea at least not right now, I just have few things that I to do tonight before bed, so I will be ready for the office in the morning"

"OK...Just know that the offer stands whenever your ready to except it"

"I will definetly keep that in mind" You say goodnight as you close the door behind you.

Saying that you were glad that it was over is an understatement.You let out a sigh of relief when you are in your apartment as you rest your head against your door with your eyes closed.

"Was it really that bad"

The voice from the person on your couch scared the crap out of you....

Family Now

Request:Can you do something with yn being pregnant by jay and being kidnapped, when she is found to be injured and going into labor, but at the end of it all is right. with cute ending

Hope you like it this is my first request :)

Jay had been working on a case where this guy had tried to take almost everyone on the team out as a way to get back at Hank for putting his brother in prison for the rest of his life. Hank recieved a note saying "You took my family away from you now I am going to take yours away from you" Luckily the man hasnt been successful on any of his attempts. Hank had warned them to all be very careful and watch their backs everywhere they went.

All Jay wanted to do was to get home to Y/N just hold her close and just pretend that it was just the two of them, well 3 if you consider their little baby girl in Y/N stomach. Knowing that is what he had to look for eased his nerves just a little bit. Getting out of his truck he couldnt help but to look around and for some reason he had an uneasy feeling in his gut. Yeah it was probably the fact that he was being hunted by a man and they didnt actually know what he looked like.

As he walks up the stairs to their apartment the feeling got so bad that he was in a run to the apartment just so that he could make sure everything was alright. As he got closer to the apartment he seen their door was slightly opened which he knew wasnt right because Y/N always kept the door locked when he wasnt there. So he took out his gun and eased in the door, seeing that their were things strewed around everywhere like there had been a fight broke out. His heart was in his stomach when he seen the blood on the floor. So he did the first thing that came to his mind, he pulled out his phone and called Voight. Luckily he picks up on the first ring

Halstead whats the problem?

Voight, she's gone! It was silent of the phone for what felt like forever but was just a few seconds.

Im on my way, Ill get the rest of the team to head that way as well, you call it in so that we can find this Son of a Bitch.

As Jay hangs up the phone he does exactly as Voight told him to do. Waiting for the team to arrive he just walks around to see if there is anything that was left that would lead them to where he took her.

The team all finally make it to Jay & Y/N apartment,and as the other officers are looking around for fingerprints or anything really. Then one of the officers came walking up to them.

Detective Halstead there was this note left on your kitchen counter and I think that you are going to want to see this. She says while handing him the note. Jay reads the note out loud

The note reads " Hank you took my brother,Ive got your daughter & grandchild. You may want find me before I do something I may regret"

Dammit Hank I know she is your daughter but we are going to have a kid together and if something happens to either of them I will never forgive you!

Hank stood there and let him yell at him because he felt the same way if anything did happen to his daughter and grandaughter he wouldnt be able to live with himself

Y/N POV

This man that kidnapped me he kept saying sorry but said that it was all my dads fault that this was happening. You kept trying to talk to him trying to figure out what you could do to make up for what your dad did but you got nothing from him. The pain in your lower stomach kept coming closer together but you were not due for another couple weeks and in this moment in time is not how you want your babygirl to be born.

Sir,Sir,SIR finally catching his attention. I think that I need to go to the hospital

There is no way in hell that I am taking you to a hospital.

At that very moment your water broke and water went everywhere.

My water just broke and its either you take me to hospital or my baby will be born right here.

Well then it looks like you will be bringing a life into this world in warehouse. Ill be back in a little while.

He must have been so caught up in taking me that he didnt check me to see if I still had my phone and thank god I keep it on silent most of the time because when I finally got to it I had so many missed calls from Jay and my dad. All you wanted to do was cry cause you know Jay is so worried and there isnt anything he can do to help, but right now wasnt the time to cry in between the pain you sent a text to Jay letting him know everything you seen around you thinking that maybe it would help then find out where you are.

Jay POV

Sitting at my desk doing everything that I possibly can to figure out where she is. Where he took her? We have been going non-stop to figure something out. He finally just slammed his hands on his desk and walked to the locker room looking at the pictures that he had in his locker of the love of his life and his soon to be born baby girl

He just lets his head fall in his hands and all he can do it just cry, lets the tears that he has been holding in since noticing that Y/N was taken fall. He hears his phone go off and as he pulls the phone out thinking that it is just another lead that will get them no where, he sees that it is her name and he jumps up. As he reads everything that the message says he runs back into the bullpin and yells for Voight, thinking that maybe he could make some sense out of it. As Hank is reading the message it clicks

I dont think she knows where she is but she is just telling us what she sees or hears, so that we can figure out where she is. She says that she heard a train at least a couple times within a few hours, she knows that its an old warehouse. Windows lined all around the building and out one of the windows she sees the numbers 5142

As he was saying everything Kim was typing it into the computer to see if she could up with anything. Y/N has always been like a little sister to her so she was just as worried as everyone else on the team. Once she typed in the numbers in popped up exactly what they had all been hoping for..

I FOUND SOMETHING!!!! She yells

Everyone makes their way over to her......There is an old abandoned warehouse at 5142 West St and it hasnt been in business for over 15 years

Suit up lets go..Hanks says as he practically in a jog so that he can get his little girl back.

Y/N POV

The pain is just getting worse by the minute but I know that I can hold off because I know by now that they are on their way to get me. If they are not then I dont see me or my little girl making it out of the warehouse alive. She just trys to continue breathing through the pain hoping that your little girl will be stubborn like her daddy and just saying where she is safe right now.

He finally returns, this time he has a woman with him, she comes over and she trys to check you out and see what shape you are in.

Dont you dare touch me! You all but yell

I have to see how you and your baby are

No you dont. I would rather have my baby on my own then with someone helping me that is helping the man that kidnapped me

I am not working with him, he came on the street and I think that I was the first nurse that he seen and told me that his girlfriend was in labor

Well I am in no way his girlfriend, I am his hostage and he is refusing to take me to the hospital. As she finishes that sentence the nurse turns and sees the gun pointed at her head

You help deliver her baby and then I have no more use for you. Just cant have her dying just yet....

As he finishes that sentence the door is busted in and Chicago PD is surrounding him. He gets down next to you and points the gun at your head

You come any closer and I will kill her

Dad help me....

I am...You wanted me from the start let my littl girl go and get to a hospital and take me, do whatever you have to but just let her go. Once he finishes the sentence Adam tackles the man to the ground and in a flash Jay is by your side

Y/N I am so sorry that this happened

Hey it isnt your fault, but I think that we are going to become parents a few weeks sooner than we expected.

The nurse finally speaks, We need an gurney in here we have to get her to the hospital. She helps them get you in the ambulance, She gives them all the information that they need and then the ambulance is off to Med. As you arrive everyone is there waiting, you already have a room waiting and everything. After what seems like hours of labor you finally delivered a beautiful blue eyed baby girl. 7lbs 12oz 17in long

After a few hours of resting you ask Jay to get a wheelchair so that you could take her out to meet everyone. As he helped you to the wheelchair he placed the pillow on your stomach before picking up yalls little girl kissing her on the nose before handing her to you. Little moments like that make you falls in love with that man more and more..

As you make your way down the hall the first two people that you see are your dad and Jay's brother Will. They see you making your way down the hall and have huge grins on their faces and rush to their feet.

feel a little rough but this little one right here makes it all worth it.

You look up at Jay and you both share a smile

Everyone we would like to introduce you to Camille Justine Halstead. After my beautiful mother and brother who both were taken way too soon.. As you make eye contact with your dad for the first in a very very long time you seen your dad crying. He walks over and kisses you on the head..

That name is perfect.

Well then I guess you better thank Jay because it was his idea

He turns to Jay and pulls him into a hug and whispers thank you. They pull back from the hug and Jay looks him dead in the eye and says We are family now

New Beginnings Are Good For Everyone Ch.5

Waking up the next morning was one of the easiest things she ever done, which was weird because she hated monday mornings so much. But getting up and going through her morning routine just to make sure everything is right before she heads out for her first day as member of the Chicago PD Intellgence Unit. Kim had a little extra pep in her step and she was happy about it because it hadnt been there in a long time. She grabbed her jacket & keys ready to walk out the door. She stops for coffee to make sure that doesnt hit a wall in the middle of the day.

Kim walks into the station and she sees Sargent Platt, she decides that the best thing to do is to talk to her and to see what she is suppose to do. She stands there silently as Sargent Platt finishes the conversation with the officers in blue. When Trudy looks up and notices Kim she tells the officers to move along. She welcomes her back and asks if she is ready for her first day.

Kim replies happily that she was more than ready to prove herself to everyone. She kept small conversation with Trudy until Trudy looks behind her and notices one of the members of the Intelligence Unit.

Upton?

Yes Sargent?

You know Agent Kim Burgess?

Yes I know Kim

Well would mind buzzing her upstairs with you just until we can get her into the system.

Of course, follow me Kim and show you where you are going to start spending most of your time

Oh I cant wait.

I promise you that will change, I love my job but you have no time for a personal life.

I guess that it is a good thing that I am a woman focusing on her career right now and not a romantic relationship.

They carry on with their conversation with their small climb of the stairs, Hailey walks her to Voights office and wishes her good luck even though she knows she will see her in just a couple mins.

Kim welcome to your first day as a memeber of intellgence, just want to go over a few things while we wait on the last couple people to show up. He starts going over the rules and not that there was many rules but he lives strongly by the few rules that he has.

Kim has noticed that Hank Voight is not your normal Sargent but she wasnt wanting normal she was just wanting to serve justice for the city of Chicago. She continues to listen intently to what Voight is saying taking everything he was saying to the heart so she knows what not to do to get on his bad side. I am going to give you a few weeks to study everything, I have set up your test in two weeks for you detective exam. The moment finally comes to where he asks if she had any questions

I will make sure that I study up on everything that I need to know so that I can pass the test of my first try. I say things like that so I can keep it in my mind that I will pass the test and that I can do anything I put my mind to.

I know that everyone is partnered up with someone, I was just curious who my partner was going to be? I know that no matter who I am with that I will have a great partner. This team just seems like they have each others back no matter if they are actually partners or not.

That we do Kim we are family here, Whatever one member of the intellgence is going through everyone feels the pain, I know that it is weird to say buts it true. We have our fights like any of family but at the end of the day we will have each others back no matter what.

That is exactly what I want because at the FBI yes it was everyone worked as a team but at the end of the day everyone was only watching out for theirselves and if they had the chance to do it they would throw someone under the bus in a heartbeat. That was until Erin came I knew that she would have my back no matter what and she was the only thing that I was going to the miss about it and that was it.

Good to hear Kim, he looks out the window and notices that the whole team is here. Come on lets go out to the bullpin and I will let everyone know all at once who you are going to partnered with.

The door opens and everyones eyes looks toward the door and sees Kim and Hank exiting, Hank finally speaks up, So as everyone of you know Agent Burgess as of today is officially a member of Intellgence and I think she is going to be an amazing addition to the team and I want you all to make her feel at welcome. So as of today Burgess you are going to partnered up with Halstead, Upton you will be with Ruzek and Atwater you will be Olinksy.

Hailey showed Kim where her desk would be, which was actually her old desk. Hank liked the partners to be close to each other that shows they can work as a team not only on the street but in the close quarters of an office.

The first couple hours was kind of quiet just everyone going over cases they had been working on. When Voight walks out of the office and catches all of their attenion.

We have a case, We are looking at a small drug smuggling team that is somewhat new to the city, and one of the leaders of the team is trying to look normal or something because he has a nine to five job and he doesnt live in these high priced homes to make it not look so obvious but the others, they are staying hid very well because there has been no trace of any clues as to who any of his partners are. This is Lorenzo Lopez he is best known as Enzo.

Kim finally looks away from the file in her hands and takes a look at the picture hanging on the board, and her eyes go huge. She looks over a Jay and they share this look knowing that this was the neighbor that Jay thought was very sketchy. Voight must have caught onto that look, cause he questioned them.

What is that look the two of you just shared?

Well it turns out that he lives in our building and right next door to Kim. He just moved into the apartment a few weeks ago and he seemed kind of sketchy but I never really thought anything of it.

Kim was just lost in her thoughts that she didnt really hear the conversation that was going on. Until Jay tapped her shoulder to get her attention. She slightly jumped that never happens, she just thought that she left him in the past and now she was going to be apart of the team to send him to prison and honestly she cant say that she was upset about it. It was one of the main reasons that she left him she knew that the business that he was in wasnt legal and there was no way in hell that she was going to let him mess up her career.

Kim are you alright?

Yeah, Im just thinking about someway, anyway that we can take him down.

Jay wasnt buying it but it was her first day he wasnt going to push the boundaries just yet. So he just let it go for now.

Halstead you and Burgess go talk to your CI'S and see if they know anything about this. Everyone just keep digging into his past and see what you can dig up.

Kim heard the last sentence and knew that she had to tell someone about her connection to the suspect before someone actually figured it out and wonder why she didnt tell them, so who is best to tell then her partner.

They get into Jay's truck and head out and she knew that if she didnt talk about it now that she never would. She lets out this deep breathe

Jay I need to tell you something.

You can tell me anything. Im here for you

Its about the suspect that we are looking into, you know last night when I said something under my breathe about our sketchy neighbor

Yeah, what about it?

Well, what I didnt tell you is that I know Enzo very very well

How well?

As in we were together for over a year

What?!?!

Yeah, when we first met he was normal like any other guy but then the longer that we were together its like I just didnt get the same vibe from him that I used to. When we would spend time together I would feel uneasy that something could go wrong at any minute. So after that night I just told him that I think that it was best if we seen other people and that I didnt see a future with him. Lets just say that he didnt take it the best and i had to end up moving somewhere else but a few weeks before I found out that I got the job here I felt as if I was being followed and yet somehow we end being neighbors. I didnt want to think nothing much about it when I first set eyes on him but it just seems like he found out from someone that I was moving here and just thought that maybe if he lived here first that I wouldnt think nothing about it.

Kim you definetly have to tell Voight about this

I know I just didnt think that I would ever see him again

Even though you never thought you would see him again doesnt change anything he is our main suspect and you could be the reason he is in Chicago and that may actually lead us to him, I would never actually make you do anything that would put you in danger I hope you know this

I do know this, but whatever helps put him behind bars quicker I am willing to help

Jay talked to a couple of his CI'S and they were not much help, So they started back toward the station when Halstead got a message with an address to meet the rest of the team. As they arrived they seen the team surrounding something on the ground and as they made it to their side they seen that it was a woman who couldnt have been not much older than 25 and she was laying there with a cut throat.

Do we think that this has anything to do with Enzo and his men? Kim questioned

We wont know anything until we get the autopsy back. Says Voight

Sarge is there anyway that I can have a word with you

Yeah, sure

They walked far enough away that nobody would be able to hear what they were talking about. She told him everything that she told Jay and hoped that whatever she told him would help.

Kim I know that wasnt easy to say but I am glad that you told me before we had to find it out on our own and then it would have looked bad on your end and looked like you were hiding something.

Thats what I thought and Jay told me that I should tell you right away and I feel so much better now that I did.

They join back up with the team and all head back to the station. Once they make it back to the station everyone gathers around the board and Voight feels the team in on everything you told him and they tried to figure out what was the best way they could get his guards down long enough for someone to get into his place to bug his apartment or even his phone.

Kim was the first person to speak up.

I think we know the only person that he is going to even let into his apartment is me

Kim you dont have to do this...Voight and Jay say at the same time

Your right I dont but I know that this is my job and that it is the right thing to do. You could always be close enough to that if I feel threathened that you will be right there.

If you are sure that you want to do this then we will do it

Its the furthest from what I want to do but its what I know needs to be done.

Alright everyone we will put everything in motion tonight. So get ready

Kim cant believe she is the one that thought of this but I think in the end its the only thing that would have made sense, Its the only way they will be able to bust him

New Beginnings Are Good For Everyone Ch.4

To say that Kim was surprised about who her neighbor is was an understatment. She thought that she left him in her past and that she would never see him again but boy was she wrong. She isnt going to let him ruin her happiness about a new beginning to her life. By Sunday afternoon her apartment was starting to look more like a home, everything was coming together. Later that day she recieved a text from Hailey asking if she would like to get dinner with her and the guys. Of course she agreed, because she wanted to get to know her team.

She showered and got ready for the night and Hailey swung by to pick her up to meet everyone. On the way to the resturant they just made small talk. As they arrived they noticed that the guys arent there yet which Hailey knows they are always late to everything. So as they were seated they just continued with the conversation since they had time to theirselves. Hailey wanted to get to know everything she could about Kim so that they could become friends and tell each other anything, she hasnt had one of those types of friends in a long time. Secertly Kim was hoping for the same thing. Yes, Kim did miss Erin but she honestly know when or even if she would see her and it sucked but she knew it would be this way. Their conversation was interrupted by Adam being well Adam...

Hello beautiful ladies.....sorry we kept you waiting Kevin had to get his hair just right

You guys are fine me and Hailey were just sitting here getting to know each other.

As the guys take their seats the waitress comes and takes their orders,conversation flowing like they had known each other for years and that was the way that being apart of a team was suppose to be. Keving asked the question that was on everyones mind.

Kim, can I ask you a question?

You were apart of the FBI, what made you want to move from something like the FBI down to a unit like Intellgence?

Honestly, Intellgence is the type of unit that I have always wanted to be in but when I got the offer for the FBI I just couldnt turn it down, it wasnt a horrible job it just wasnt the job for me but I stayed there for 5 years and then a friend of mine said that she knew Sargent Voight and that she would call him and try to set up a meeting with him and try to get a spot on the team & well here we are..

Well I can say that I think that you are going to be a great addition to our team & I cant wait to work side by side with you...Stated Hailey

Thanks Hailey, I cant wait to work with you as well so that we can show Chicago that we are way more badass than the men on our team.

I honestly believe the both of you could prove that no problem....Jay says

Just sitting back observering seeing what everyone is talking about.

She just looks a him, then Hailey interrupts.

Kim if you dont mind me asking who was the friend that helped you?

I dont mind, she actually used to be apart of the team and when she came to the FBI she had nothing but good things to say about the people she used to work with and that she did miss Chicago but it was home. Her name is Erin Lindsey

Everyone around the table looks directly at Jay but Kim was looking down and didnt catch it.

Yeah, Erin made it bareable to be there, I would ask her about her job in Chicago and her old unit and anything that had to say she spoke highly. So I know that I am going to be in amazing hands. She did say that she had the best partner anyone could ever have and that she really regreted the way that she left. But she thinks that it was for the best that she mad the decision that she did.

Everyone was quite and that Kim did pick up on....did she say something wrong? As she is trying to figure out what was going on, Jay gets up and walks off to the bar...

Did I miss something?

Adam spoke up first....Jay was Erin's old partner & He was head over hills in love with her but she just up and left without an explaination to anybody at all.

All Kim could do was look at Jay..She felt bad, she was building Erin up so much all while Jay was sitting next to her think god knows what. She had to go check on him

Ill be right back guys....she says

Thank you Kim, they lock eyes and smile & they stay like for what feels like forever but was maybe 30 seconds. They didn’t know that they had 3 people watching the interaction between the two of them.

This is true, they both stand up and start to walk back when Kim stops and turns back toward Jay making sure to look at him in his eyes

Maybe sometime this week we could grab drinks and then we could talk as long as we want to...she says with a small smile

Yeah i’m sure that we could arrange something. He smiles and they finally make it back to the table

After about another hour everyone decided that maybe it was time to head home seeing as they all had to be at the same place at the same time in the morning. As they were saying their goodnight’s because they in a few hours they would see each other. Hailey ask Kim if she was ready to go and as she was about to say yes jay spoke up.

Hailey so that you don’t have to go out your way I can give Kim a ride..

Wouldn’t it be out of your as well? Kim ask Jay

Seeing that I live in the same apartment building no it wouldn’t be out of my way.

Kim looks at Hailey, with a kind of what do i do look...

I wouldn’t mind to take her home. But it would make more sense for you two to ride together.

Kim walks up to Hailey and gives her a hugs saying that she would see her tomorrow and whispers in her ear to text her.

Everyone gets in their vehicles to head home, the ride back to their apartment building was quite but it wasn’t an awkward quiet. The radio playing quietly, as they arrive to the apartment they said their goodnight’s and went they went their own ways or so they thought they were. Jay was actually walking behind Kim wondering which apartment she actually lived in, when she finally stops at her door he lets out a small laugh

Whats funny? She ask curiously

He continues walking as he starts talking and then stops in front of his door.

I guess it looks like we are neighbors...

Huh who knew.... Well at least I know that I like one of my neighbors

Yeah the guy on the other side of you he seems kind of sneaky

They both walk into their apartments and as the door shuts they put their backs against the door with smiles on their faces.

Tomorrow was her first day and she couldn’t wait to get to work....Little did Kim know the her first case that she was going to encounter she was going to have to come face to face with that neighbor that she thought that she left in her past.

New Beginnings Are Good For Everyone Ch.3

Getting everything packed up and ready to move was alot to do is so little time. She had already talked her boss at the FBI and they hated to lose her but they just wanted her to do whatever she had to do to be happy but she had to go into the office to sign some paperwork and to get the rest of her things. It was kind of a bitter sweet kind of thing, she was happy because is finally getting to do what she has always wanted to do but then again its the job that she has had for the past 5 years and they were her family in a way but the one that she was going to miss the most is the one that got her to the place that she wanted to be and that was Erin, she was her best friend the person she had been closest to in a long time and she was going to miss that.

Walking into the office it felt weird because she wasnt in uniform and she knew that it would be her last time ever stepping foot into the FBI, she heads to her bosses office so that she could get the easy part out the way signing her name to few papers that was no problem, but saying goodbye to the people that she has worked with for the past 5 years that was going to be the hardest part of this whole day. So after shaking hands with her boss for the last time and them telling her that she will be missed, she walked to her desk with the small box to get everything she had. Out of the corner of her she sees everyone watching her with sad looks on their faces but Erin was the only one that walked up to her and let her know just how much she was going to miss her. She was happy for her but that didnt make the fact that she was going to miss her hurt any less. They had a small conversation and shared a tight hug.

Im gonna miss you says Kim

Back atcha but this isnt goodbye this is a see you later. Erin tells her

Oh for sure, i may be leaving but you cant get rid of me that easy. They shared a laugh

I would never want to get rid of you. Now you go and show them just how much of a badass you really are.

With one finally tight hug Kim knew she had to go. She had a small tear in her eye but she knew that her and Erin were going to talk alot and they would still be great friends

The moving truck would be there first thing in the morning and her flight leaves tomorrow afternoon. She would stay in a hotel the first night but that following morning she had to meet someone about an apartment. Then the first step as to making Chicago home would be done. Crawling into bed for what would be her final night in Washington that was the first night in a long time that she went to sleep in her own bed with a real smile on her face. The next week was going to be a long and busy week but it was a week that she couldnt wait for

*Jay*

That night when Kim left the whole team went to Molly's and of the guys kept asking me how i knew her and if she was the girl from the night before. I just ignored them and let them continue to ask, they honestly sounded like teenage girls wanting to find out about their best friends crush or something. The only one that I actually trusted to talk to about it was Kelly he wasnt one around to know who i was talking about and he was just being a supportive friend and its what i needed right now. Yes I was a grown man talking about a girl i liked to one of my friends.....ok maybe i was the one that sounded like a teenage girl. When I got home that night as I was laying in bed I was kinda kicking myself for not trading numbers with her but I know that Ill have it once she joins the team. I mean she did say that she wanted us to get to know each other better, so that is a good sign. I can honestly say that I was looking forward to Monday more than I have in a long time.

Waking up realizing that it was Friday hoping that maybe they would just get a small case and that he would be able to enjoy his weekend off and just spend time with his brother and friends, something that he hadnt got to do in quite some time but he wasnt getting his hopes up to much. Walking out of the apartment heading out for what he hopes is going to be a good day. He really didnt think he would have the patience to deal with any dumbasses today. He was looking down at his phone as he was about to walk out the door when he bumped into a smaller figure and about knocked them over he looked up to apoligize when his eyes locked with hers and the only thing that he could do is apoligize.

Im sorry I wasnt paying attention I was looking at a text Voight sent me.

Its fine I was lost in conversation with a friend from Washington and wasnt watching where I was going either. Kim says... Erin let me call you back after I meet with the guy about my apartment & she hangs up the phone.

I would love to stay and chat but we have a case and I have to get to the scene. Jay informs her

I completely understand, but maybe if you have any free time today here is my number feel free to text me at anytime. She smiles as the manager of the apartments come out to meet her.

*Kim*

Job..Check Apartment..Check

But she still has a couple hours til her stuff will arrive. She contacted the movers and let the know the address that they would be bringing it to. Saying the excitment was taking over body would be the correct term, she actually let out a small screech of happiness once she was alone in her apartment. Locking the door she decided to just go get the stuff that she had with her at the hotel and just grab some lunch and maybe walk around and explore the city a bit while waiting on her things.

Walking around the city she was just mesmerized with how beautiful this city was I mean she cant say Washington wasnt beautiful but the way that Chicago was just felt like maybe this is where she was meant to be this whole time. It felt like home. Finally recieving the text that her stuff was going to be arriving in 30 mins she started to head back to her apartment. Her phone went off again thinking that it was the movers but this time it was a number that she didnt recoginize, opening up her phone the text simply said "Hey this is jay, I had a second so I thought that I would text you so that you would have my number as well" she smiles and simply replys "Ok. Got it. Hope work isnt to hard on you today."

The movers got everything up to the apartment without breaking anything surprisingly because on the way up they dropped a few things and i guess it was just her lucky day. Everything was still in one piece but now that she is alone she can actually start making this place look like a home. She has music playing as she is setting everything up and then her mind starts to wonder about who her neighbor could be the only information that the manager give me about my neighbor is that he was a guy and he was barely ever home. I mean yeah I am pretty sure that once I start work that ill hardly ever be home to but I am absolutely ok with that. She had finally got her bedroom setup the way that she wants it & almost half done with the living room when her stomach growls and she looks at the time realizing that it is almost 7pm and that she hasnt eat anything since lunch, she was so caught up and getting everything she just forgot. So she just stopped what she was doing and grabbed her keys and wallet to go get something to eat. As she locks her door she turns around and definitely didnt think thats who her neighbor was going to be...

You have got to be kidding me........

Jay walked into the bullpin the next day with a smile on his face, a smile that hasnt been on his face in a long time & he missed it. He notices the guys sitting at their desks so he made his way toward them.

Hey guys!

Well isnt someone in a chipper mood today, im guess that means that the date went pretty good last night? Ask Adam

Oh no...There wasnt a date at all because she decided not to show up.

Then why are you in such a great mood if you got stood up? Kevin asked him confused

The reason that i am in a good mood is because of me being stood up last night i just decided that i would go to the bar in the resturant and get drunk but i ended up meeting a woman who was in town for business and we just had a great talk and by the time that she left to go back to her room my mind had been taken off the fact that i had been stood up. It didnt really matter to me at the point.

Oh so did you happen to get this womans name?

I did but i know that i am probably never going to see her again....so i am not telling you her name im just gonna know that i enjoyed her company last night.

So what did you talk about? Adam questioned

It was just a general conversation. Nothing deep, but as she walked away to head back up to her room I just couldnt help but to look back & I am glad that I did because when I did I she must have also had the same feeling because she was looking right back at me..

who knows maybe you just found the girl that could exactly what you need? Says Kevin

Well if he ever sees her again......Stated Adam

Saying that she was nervous about this interview today is understatment, she couldnt think straight she was never this nervous about anything but she wanted this spot really bad. She was trying to remind herself to just be her, that what she had done in the past for her job would show them that she was a great choice for this. As she looked herself over one more time in the mirror she decided to head out a little early so she could get some coffee before heading over to the precinct.

She was standing at the bottom of the steps, right before she enters she takes a deep breath and tells herself "You got this". She walks to the front desk and she sees a lady standing there who must be over everything so she walks up to the lady confidently.

Can I help you Ms? Ask the desk Sargent

Yes ma'am I am here for a meeting or interview with a Sargent Hank Voight. Kim states

Can I get your name so I can inform him that you are here?

My name is Kim Burgess ma'am

Ok Ms. Burgess if I could get you to have a sit on the bench I am sure that he will be down with you momentarily.

Ok thank you, she looks at the badge Sargent Platt

She sits paitently yet anxiously, thinking over the things that could possibly be ask and the answers that she would give him. As she is sit there lost in thought she hears the cage door slam and brings her out of her thoughts. She stands as she sees a man walking in her direction.

Hello Agent Burgess I am Sargent Voight. Its nice to meet you Erin has told me so much about you.

Hello Sargent Voight its so nice to meet you. Likewise she told me great things about you.

Lets head upstairs so that we can talk a little bit more. He heads toward the cage as he opens the door he motions for you to head in, you both walk up the stairs carrying on the small conversation on how Erin is. As you make it to the top of the steps you notice the team is fast at work on whatever their case is today. You scan the room and notice there are 5 people, 4 men and 1 woman. You walk to the office quietly not really paying attention to the faces of the team.

As she enters the office she takes the first seat available & Sargent Voight takes the seat opposite of you behind the desk. The conversation flowed like you had known each other for years and every question he asked you, you answered the question the best way that you knew how to. By the end of it you both somehow ended up laughing and you dont exactly remember how that happened.

So Kim if you were given the position would you be willing to take our detective exam?

Yes I would have no problem doing taking the exam. I know things are run differently here then what I am used to but I am willing the learn the way that you run your things down here.

With everything being said Agent Kim Burgess I would formally like to offer you the open spot that I have here in the Intelligence Unit if you would like to take it.

Yes I would be honored to join Intelligence. She said with a huge smile plastered on her face.

I know that you are going to need about a week to get everything settled in Washington and get back down here so i will see you next Monday Kim

Thank you so much for this opportunity Sargent Voight. She stands extending her hand. Come on I will introduce you to the rest of the team.

As they walk out the door she notices all eyes are looking in their direction. Hank starts to speak

Ok team I would like you all to welcome our newest member to the Intelligence Unit Agent Kim Bugess. She will be taking the detective exam when she returns from Washington, she is coming to us from the FBI.

Everyone makes their way up to her starting to introduce theirself starting with the only woman on the team

Hi I am Detective Hailey Upton, Its going to be nice to finally have another female around here,

Hi Detective Upton it is so nice to meet you. May have to have you to show me the ropes around here.

I will be more than happy to do that. She smiles knowing that they will be good friends

Then two guys walk up to you.

Hi I am Officer Adam Ruzek & this is officer Kevin Attwater

Hi it is very nice to meet the both of you and I cant wait to work with everyone here. It seems like a big family here.

A dysfunctional family but we are family. You all share a small laugh.

Then an older gentleman walks up to you and you can tell that he has been doing this for a long time.

Hello Agent Burgess I am Dectective Olinsky.

Why would someone want to move from the FBI down to a unit like Intelligence?

I have been with the FBI for almost 5 years and there is just times that its just to much for me. I have always wanted to work in a smaller team of people like here in Intelligence, so when a friend offered to try and get me an interview with Sargent Voight I could turn the chance down.

I can understand that. Well welcome to the team and I cant wait to see what you bring to the team.

Lastily there was one more team member that you hadnt met yet as you turn around to make your way to his desk he looks up at you with a small smile. He stands up leaning against the edge of his desk.

Now this way i think we might be able to have a little bit better conversation, since both of us are in better spirits.

Kim says her finally byes and as she is leaving the unit she does one final look back and just like last night their eyes lock right before she dissapears.

This was going to be everything she hoped it would and more..

Her new life was about to begin and she had never been more happy about anything in her entire life.......

New Beginnings Are Good For Everyone!!!

Kim Burgess has loved everything about her job. Honestly it was getting to be a little to much for at times. She loves being an FBI Agent & helping save lives of the people & putting away the bad guys but she is ready for something different. She still wants to work in law enforcement but something with a smaller unit of people. Luckily she made a new friend with a woman that had some into the FBI a few months ago. Erin Lindsey.

She was given the job of showing her the ropes of how everything was done. Within the time that they had soent together they had become very close, she would even go as far as saying Erin was her best friend. She was jealous of her a little though becayse tge unit that she came from in Chicago was exactly the kind of work that she has always wanted to do.

It just becomes a bit much at times. I just sometimes wish I work in a unit like you used to work in, Kim says to Erin

Kim you have been here for right at 5 years if you a change nobody would judge you. Erins tells her

That may be true but I honestly wouldnt even know where to start, all I know is how to be an FBI Agent.

If I can set up a metting between you and my old sargent in Chicago, would you be willing to fly out there for a few days.

You would really do that for me? She asks

Of course as much as you have done for me its the least I could do.

Kim thinking that it wouldnt actually happen told Erin if she could set it up that she would fly out and me him.

Erin let Kim know to keep her a couple days & she would have an answer for her.

Kims weekend was pretty uneventful for the most part. It was just her & her couch...with the work week she had she thought she deserved it. Knowing Monday morning would come quicker than she wanted it to. As her alarm goes off at 4:30am like usual she gets up so that she would have enough time to get ready to make it on time to the office.

She arrives at the office at 6:30am like normal with her & Erin's morning coffee to help them survive the day.

Erin spots Kim walking her way with the extra coffee in her hand. She met her halfway because she was just so excited to let her know about the phone called that happened this weekend. She just had to let her know everything that she was told.

Good Morning Beautiful Erin says excitedly with a huge smile on her face.

Good Morning to you too. Smiling back to her

So I was going to wait til lunch and tell you the information that i found out this weekend but I dont think I can wait that long.

What are you talking about? She asked puzzled

So I talked to my olf Sargent Hank Voight and he actually has an open spot in the Intelligence Unit. He is willing to meet with you next week to see if you would be a great addition to the team or not. I vouched for you and told him that he wouldnt find anyone better.

Kim had this blank look on her face...she just couldnt believe this was happening. She had pushed it of her mind thinking it wasnt going to happen.

I cant think you enough for doing this for me. What if he doesnt like me?

Just be yourself & he will love you. Plus ive seen first hand what you can do in the field. I know you are an amazing cop & would be a perfect fit for the team.

All Kim could do is hug Erin so tight.

She left for Chicago tomorrow & would be there for couple days. She has never been more nervous about anything but the only reason that she was this way was because she wanted it so bad. Everything was packed and ready to head to what she was hoping was the beginning of a new start to the rest of her life.

**Jay**

Ever since Erin had left without saying anything to him he just hasnt been the same. He goes to work does his job but besides that he doesnt really care about much of anything else. His job is the only thing that he has good going for him right now. He would only hang with the team at mollys for few drinks but he would always stay quiet just thinking about maybe what he done to cause her to up and leave him without as much as an explanation.

Everyone was worried about Jay, they knew he was hurting because of her leaving but he never let it affect his job performance. They just want him to be happy and find someone to make him happy again. They all know that she isnt coming back this time. She is gone for good and there is nothing that Jay,Hank or anyone on the team could do to bring her back. Maybe they could talk him into letting them set him up on a blind date.

5 months had gone by and he knew that he should put himself back out in the dating world but he didnt really want to start caring about someone again the way he did her just to be hurt again, but he also knows that he cant compare every woman to her and not every woman out there is going to hurt him or leave him. He just has to be a little more cautious this time before letting someone competely in. Maybe just maybe he might take the guys up on their option of letting them set me up on a blind date, I mean if it doesnt work out i mean at least he cant say that he didnt try.

He walks into the pin and he sees Adam & Kevin having a conversation so he walks up to them with a slight smile on his face.

Set it up. He blurts out

They both look at him kind of lost.

Ok..What exactly are you setting up?

You said that you wanted to set me up on a blind date & i thought that i would give it a shot. Whats the worst thing that could happen....Get stood up or End up not having a good time. I will never know if I dont give it a shot.

They were surprised but they are just glad that he is finally putting himself out there or at least giving them the opportunity to get him back in the dating life.

You got it brother.. They both say with a smile on their face.

Saying that he was nervous was a little bit of an understatement. He had arrived a little bit early just to make sure that everything was fine and set up to his liking. He had been sitting for 30 mins. She was a few mins late...whoever she was.

After sitting there for a little while longer he realized that she wasnt coming so he just decided to go to the bar and have drink or 2 or 4 he hadnt really made up his mind. He was sitting there looking at his drink when he seen a shadow standing next to him.

Not at all feel free he says as he goes back to nursing his drink getting lost in his thoughts.

No offense taken. I let my friends set me up on a blind date and whoever she was decided that to stand me up, so instead of sitting at the table looking like a fool i decided that i would come over here and have a few drinks. So i guess you could say that i have been better. Whats a lady like you doing out at this time of night?

I am staying in a room upstairs & have alot going through my mind so i thought that maybe if I came down here and had a drink that maybe it would ease my mind a bit and that i would actually be able to get some sleep. She informs him

Are you in Chicago for business or fun?

I am here for business I am currently living in Washington but I have an interview tomorrow and if all goes well then i may just end up permanently in Chicago. Heres to hoping she says as she holds up her glass.

He holds his up as well. I hope everything goes the way that you want it to tomorrow. My name is Jay he says as he sticks out his hand with a small smile.

My name is Kim it was very nice meeting you Jay but I think that it is time that i head upstairs to get some rest so that i dont look too tired in the morning. Good Night and I hope that your night gets better.

As she walks away he couldnt help but to look over his shoulder one last time before she was out of his sight knowing that he may never see this woman again. He was surprised that when he looked over he shoulder that his eyes was met with hers looking right back at him and she turn the corner with one final smile. When she was out of his sight he finished the drink in his hand he decided to just head home, turns out that being stood up turned out to be one of the best things that had happened to him. He really had to thank the boys for choosing such a horrible date for him.
