I chose to believe that the reason Leo and Nico barely interacted during Heroes of Olympus is because upon meeting they took one look at each other and simultaneously thought "Oh no, he is just like me fr." and proceeded to avoid each other for the rest of the journey.

y’all remember the part in blood of olympus where nico hears that his friends on the argo ii are in danger and his thoughts go to hazel first and then to jason and then to percy and the rest of the crew … yeah i just think that stands testament that jason holds a higher place in nico’s mind than the boy he has loved for years does. i just think we should appreciate their friendship more
