Kinda important OOC note, but I've recently updated my rules page with regards to what I will / won't write in addition to realizing my age and stuff were out of date from me copying + pasting my rules from my old blogs LOL.

I kindly ask my moots to go take a look, most of the things haven't changed, but I wanted to give a head's up to anyone in case any of my rules might conflict with theirs in regards to interacting.

I appreciate you all, apologize for my spotty activity, but I'm feeling really good right now and as work hours have been cut back during the tail end of our slow season, I'll be more active lately. It wasn’t an excuse to get food out of the other teen , REALLY , if Chuuya was that hungry he’d rather dig through the bins behind the local restaurants than risk someone offering him a pity meal ( more often than not he snacked where he could or else simply ignored the stomach pain until it went away ) . It wasn’t … he didn’t need anybody to feel sorry for him . Everybody had their lot in life , some people got LUCKY , others were dealt a worse hand . That was just how it was . He wasn’t angry about it , even if he would have been justified .

Chuuya knew what his role was .

He was … a guardian of sorts , a protector . The King of the Sheep , more of a … symbol than a proper leader as he still had to answer to the council most of the time , but one that the others looked to , depended on to keep them SAFE . He knew these streets like the back of his hand , remembers learning what they meant by sounding out each of the characters , repeating them until it was muscle memory to KNOW which street blended into which alley . Now he could give precise directions based on landmarks engraved into his consciousness . Yokohama was a corrupt , broken city , but it was the only home he’d ever known . He would defend it with his life , & the people in it . His people , at least . Strays , runaways , kids tossed away & kicked out . All of them fell under his ‘ jurisdiction ’ by default .

He was eight years old when he first remembered ( discovered ? ) he was gifted , almost nine , & everything changed after he told the others . Suddenly , there were murmurs anytime he walked into a room . We have a way to fight back now , & hit them where it hurts . Now days , most people knew not to mess with them , & even the Port Mafia HESITATED to pull the trigger when they came face to face with the gravity manipulator .

The money that is unceremoniously shoved into his forcibly pried open hand is … a lot , both in terms of financially & in the suddenness of the action . Chuuya can only stare at Ash , a bewildered expression on his face . His math skills weren’t the best but he was pretty sure there was at least ¥11,000 in bills in his hand . Maybe not a lot to some people , but for a street kid it was money that could be used on food , on clean water & medical supplies …

He’s so startled he couldn’t even muster up the temper he normally has over the subject of nightmares , an unwelcome reminder of his … abnormalities .

“ I don’t have those . I can’t dream . ” he mumbles unhappily to himself before shoving the notes into his pocket . “ Come on , Ash - kun , I know a good place with western food that I think you’ll like ! ” he snaps out of his daze & bounces along the sidewalk with a noticeable pep in his step , leading the blond boy out to one of the main commercial streets connecting to the Minatomirai .

THE ELDER TEEN is not fooled by the pipsqueak’s miserable attempt at a poker face , nor his lackluster explanation as to why he insisted on following the foreigner around when he had a plethora of responsibilities &. duties to better occupy his time with . the effort would have been laughable if ash’s mood wasn’t already soured by his worsening conditions . before he can exert any non - existent energy on trying to mentally theorize the truth behind the boy’s appearance , it announces itself in the form of a hunger - induced growl &. a flushed face . feeling far too exhausted to greet the nuisance with some mean - spirited snark , ash chooses not to comment on it , instead directing his gaze sideways towards the chipped cement walls rather than the teen’s reddened complexion . ( how he came to be so merciful given the cards he has been dealt , who can say ! it might just have something to do with the other boy’s act of heroism the other day - - - not that ash ever asked for his help , but he isn’t too fond of being indebted to others . ) the blonde scoffs , jades narrowing sharply . ❝ what , you tryin’ to get some community service hours in ? walk an old hag across the street or somethin’ , then . I don’t NEED a damn translator . ❞ where the hell did this micro - sized shrimp of a street child learn to read , anyway ?

A SINGLE PALE HAND drops from its idle resting position on the teen’s hip to fish for something verbally unspecified in the pocket of his jeans . he’s a lot less graceful &. covert about it than the clumsy ginger , but that too is just as intentional as his conveniently timed wall - staring festivities . ❝ . . . well , ❞ a sigh interrupts his sudden shift in tone . ❝ - - - i’m starving . ❞ blonde eyelashes flutter when his eyes press shut , shoulders rolling back into a careless shrug . in truth , he can hardly stomach the thought of eating when he still has to spend the rest of the evening &. night working . despite that , ash continues , ❝ can’t help it , gluttony’s in my foreigner blood . if you lead the way , i’ll pay . ❞ he was shipped off into this country with his pockets forcefully emptied , but the non - mafia related jobs managed to keep him from being dirt poor . before the other can respond , ash’s free hand reaches for one of the boy’s wrists . once he succeeds in wrenching his palm open &. out of his pocket , ash produces a handful of paper bills from his own before proceeding to dump all his earnings into the shorter boy’s hand . ( a risky &. stupid move , ash knew . if chuuya did make a run for it , ash would not consider that a loss . after - all , he didn’t agree to eat for his own sake . through either a meal or the cash itself , the boy would be compensated for his assistance the day before . then , ash would not owe him a single thing . )

His mouth clamps shut at the unfiltered reply that was half out before he fully registered the question . “ I… yes ? No … kind of ? ” His heart starts pounding in his chest & he feels the backs of his hands grow sweaty , his stomach churns with nausea . “ I … I don’t know . ” Was he human ? Normal humans couldn’t grow wings & cause black holes that could tear apart their body from the inside & out as they start hemorrhaging from their nose , ears , eyes & mouth . Normal humans didn’t wake up one day unable to remember a single moment of their past for the last seven years … Normal humans didn’t become gang leaders at 12 or mafia executives at 16 , or have to bury their closest friends over & over again .

It’s been a longtime since anyone new & interesting had stumbled into the Sheep’s world of violence , bloodshed , & a struggle to survive in a city largely dominated by bigger , more powerful organizations like the Port Mafia . Chuuya wasn’t normally in the habit of following near strangers around , but Ash was just … different somehow . He was Port Mafia , yet he clearly didn’t have any loyalty to them otherwise he would’ve tried to kill the redhead by now .

“ I’m just — making sure that you don’t get lost like yesterday , obviously ! A FOREIGNER like you wouldn’t know how dangerous some parts of town can be , & I don’t want you causing any trouble for the Sheep on our turf , that’s all ! ” If it weren’t for the slight widening of azure eyes & the stutter at the beginning , his excuse would have been believable . Unfortunately , the boy had a horrible poker face . He stretched up as much as he could to meet the taller boy’s height , like a stray dog raising its hackles up to try to make itself bigger , but considering the blond had at least half a foot or more on him , it didn’t yield the intended result .

A moment later , the ginger’s stomach GROWLED & he deflated almost immediately , cheeks flushing a bit in embarrassment . “ A-anyway , how are you gonna do your job if you can’t even read kanji , hiragana or katakana ? You need a translator … Hey , Ash-kun , you haven’t eaten yet today , right ? I could show you the best shortcuts to the nearby restaurants & teach you what the menus say . ” He’s going for nonchalant , but the younger teen’s hands shove deeper in his pockets , trying to gauge how much money he’s got . Definitely not a lot , but he might have enough for something small they can share . Does Ash have money ? Probably not , Chuuya reasons to himself . He didn’t dress like he did & if whoever brought him here didn’t even bother to teach him the language , what were the odds they gave him money ?

❝ you seriously still followin’ me ? screw off , already . you got a whole daycare to be lookin’ after , junior . ❞ what a pesky little nuisance the leader of the infamous SHEEP had become so quickly - - - albeit , one who acts more as a metaphorical thorn in ash’s side rather than any semblance of a true enemy or threat , despite the hostility between their respective organizations . ( of course , ash doesn’t consider his loyalty pledged to the port mafia whatsoever . not now , not ever . doesn’t matter what decision the old man made with the group’s shady boss . ) on the contrary to what the blonde’s dismissive words might imply , his slouched strides inevitably draw to a stop , heels of his bright - red tennis shoes digging into the cement before the blonde spun around to direct a particularly NASTY scowl in chuuya’s direction . ❝ . . . well ? spit it out , then . don’t waste my time . ❞

Only one more verse of Chuuya's left to add ( HSR; still working out the details! ) + Ara's! All the people who gave me the go ahead to add them to my connections page have been added as well!

Though I don't think anything romantic happened between SKK whilst Dazai was still in the mafia, I do think their partnership was still real confusing from the outside.

Like, in the Fifteen manga these boys are repeatedly grabbing each other and holding on to each other. Dazai is constantly in Chuuya's space and it's fine, but as soon as they say something that alludes to, or makes it blatantly obvious they care about each other, they freak out. That's grooooooss to them. Because feelings are icky, but holding someone's face an inch away from your own is normal.

Given that neither have them had a real concept of what is socially acceptable, I think they formed their own boundaries around physical contact that wasn't influenced by societal opinions and was very casual.

Someone would say to Chuuya, "Hey are you and Dazai dating?" and when he acts disgusted by that idea they add "But you were sitting his lap yesterday???"

Then Chuuya responds, "No, he was ignoring me to play his stupid game, so I sat on him to punish him for not answering me. Then we took turns trying to beat this level in the game. I wasn't in his lap, I was on him, there's a difference, Moron."

Similarly someone will insinuate to Dazai that him and Chuuya are dating because they saw them holding hands and Dazai will correct them like, "Ew, he wasn't holding my hand. Chuuya gets cranky when he has to sit still, so he plays with my hand sometimes in meetings. It keeps him quiet, don't make it weird."

Maybe the older they got and the more people who would interpret this casual platonic intimacy as romantic they started to feel weirder displaying it in front of people. They put distance between themselves as people's opinions began to affect them.

And then, after Dazai leaves the mafia, they go several years not talking and develop complicated feelings around interacting with each other again now they're on opposing sides. Their boundaries get much harsher as they try to navigate getting to know each other again, but eventually they slip into old habits and comforts again.

Dazai: -exists-

Chuuya: God fucking damn it, you piece of shit, now I have to look after you!!

Dazai: ???

It’s not as if it’s the first time he’s run into Dazai looking like a flaming dumpster fire of a train wreck , that was usually his default besides insufferably irritating , but sour grapes over being abandoned without a word four years ago doesn’t change the ingrained CONCERN that laces the ginger’s tone as he confronts his … sometimes partner .

What they were was complicated , to say the least , & not easily summed up to outsiders , not that either had any desire to do so . The two of them worked best when more complex feelings remained UNSPOKEN after all .

“ Hold it ! ”

The redhead tightens his arm around his bag of groceries & promptly stomps AFTER the idiotic detective , reaching out to snag him by the back of his sand - coloured jacket . “ I’m on to you , Mackerel , no matter how stupid you think I am ! I am not wasting my day off fishing for your sorry , soggy ass in the river , no matter how pathetic you look flailing around ! ” Not once occurring to him that he didn’t have to do such a thing anyways , Chuuya begins to drag Dazai in the direction of his apartment before the other has time to bitch & moan about how rough Chuuya is with his delicate body or some shit about him being a brute .

“ Stupid Dazai , now I’m going to have to make TWICE as much food & change my plans for the night , wash your gross bloody clothes after you shower … ” his complaints don’t stop even as Chuuya begins to become aware of how familiar this scenario is . If he didn’t know Dazai so well as to know he’d rather eat something healthy than approach Chuuya for help , he would assume it was on purpose . These nights were getting more & more frequent , & he didn’t entirely hate it .

Maybe he’d missed the asshole , just a little bit . The sex was good & the cuddles after weren’t half bad either . Besides … he slept a little easier knowing Dazai’s wounds ( assuming the blood was his ) were properly treated & that he wasn’t floating somewhere down the river .

HE TURNS AWAY WITH HIS HANDS ON HIS HIPS , crudely giving his ex - parter the cold shoulder — literally , except the twisted version where his beige - clad shoulders are also doused in blood . ❝ now , if you’ll excuse me … I’ve got a date with the river ! in fact , it shall even double as a shower ! i bet you’re jealous of my luxury , chuuya - kun . ❞ he doesn’t bother saying whether the blood belongs to him or someone else , it’s more fun if the ginger tries to work his itsy bitsy brain into overdrive trying to figure it out .
