WhatsApp Unveils Design Overhaul: Darker Mode, New Icons, Navigation Upgrade
Popular messaging app's latest update revamps the look and feel on both Android and iOS, promising streamlined experience.
Tumblr media
WhatsApp, the world's most popular messaging app, just got a major facelift. The update brings a fresh color palette, redesigned icons, and an even darker dark mode – aiming to reduce eye strain. Navigation gets a boost too, with both iOS and Android versions gaining new features.
Meta, WhatsApp's parent company, meticulously crafted the new look. "After considering over 35 color palettes, we chose one that enhances our iconic WhatsApp green," the company revealed in a blog post. The update emphasizes a more consistent design across platforms.
Android users will find the most noticeable change in the darker dark mode, promising better readability in low-light environments. Icons get a revamp as well, sporting a cleaner, rounded look. Even subtle details like the default background have been refreshed for a more modern feel.
Android users also gain a bottom navigation bar, bringing their experience closer to that of iOS users. Along with this change, both platforms now benefit from features like chat filters, designed to make it easier to find those important conversations.
This design overhaul is the latest in WhatsApp's ongoing effort to stay both fresh and functional. Stay tuned for more updates as the popular app continues to evolve.

ASUS ROG Ally X Upgrade Arrives June 2nd: Bigger Battery, More Storage, Higher Price
Popular handheld gaming device gets a boost, but are the improvements worth the cost?
Tumblr media
Get ready for the ASUS ROG Ally X! The popular handheld gaming console is getting a significant upgrade, launching June 2nd. A new report reveals this iteration will feature a larger battery, expanded storage options, and more RAM. However, the expected higher price tag raises questions about its value.
While the ROG Ally X will keep the same AMD processor and 7-inch display as the original, ASUS is answering fan requests with a powerful, longer-lasting battery. In an interview with The Verge, ASUS SVP Shawn Yen promises a minimum of three hours of battery life on a single charge.
The ROG Ally X addresses another major demand – storage capacity. A redesigned internal layout allows for a longer M.2 2280 SSD slot, providing greater upgrade potential than the 2023 model's M.2 2230 slot. Users can also expect smoother gameplay with over 16GB of RAM.
ASUS further indicates refinements to the device's ergonomics and controls. This includes improved grips, as well as optimized joysticks, triggers, and D-Pad. While the specific price remains unknown, it's clear that these changes will come at a premium.
Will the ROG Ally X deliver enough "bang for your buck" compared to the original? Gamers will have to decide when it hits the market on June 2nd.
