I’m glad they’re both still viewable, I still like to listen to both from time to time. The whole thing really fascinated me, it was like they had the uncut version at the beginning and thought they could improve some of the lines, which makes a lot more sense, since Derick Snow’s acting sounds just a little more passionate in the simulcast with all his iconic voice quirks.
I realised it wasn’t just the lines either, and there’s actually very small visual differences! Simulcast has a contrasted/darker look which is a lot better in comparison, because the Uncut is really washed out and the shadows are pale. Oh and they draw the characters slightly different too - in Ep.15 where Danny has Ray at gunpoint, there is a shot where his face is redrawn. Another is after Gray shoots him - he gets back up to point his pistol and gives the most menacing stare that looked a lot more crazed in the uncut version.
been talking about this to anyone i can get my hands on and while there is a chance im late to the party i have to know. does anyone have any idea why aod has 2 dubs or when it happened.
Ohh it’s the uncut version! The 2nd clip. Okay I used to notice how there was two different dub versions - one was uncut and the other was simulcast (They’re two different broadcasts). All the characters have certain voice lines that will change depending on the version, and I found that really interesting to hear - like I would constantly switch between them and compare the lines lol. I’m gonna guess it’s actually uncut that’s the original that they had to redo because it’s bland and simulcast is the refined/better one (1st clip). But now it’s defaulted to uncut..?
Another one I think about was in Ep.12, where Danny is supposed to reply to Zack with “Oh please… Rachel is far too precious to just kill!”, whereas the original/uncut is “Please… I wouldn’t do something so savage!” …sure buddy
But his entire dialogue with Zack in Ep.9 is completely different! His lines are verrry strange and flat in the uncut - but I guess that makes sense if it’s an earlier version. Anyway if you’re streaming on Funimation you can switch between them! I think it’s the same with other services too, should be in the viewing options.
