I already have more writing to work on than there are hours in the day, but the latest idea that absolutely will not leave my brain is that Mokou needs to go to hell for therapeutic reasons. She'd have a grand old time. Just pitch herself down the shaft one day and take a few weeks vacation. She's got no one who depends on her and no schedule. She could spend every morning sparring with oni and really letting loose before heading to Chireiden for counselling.
She wouldn't even have to talk about her feelings. She just walks into Satori's room and gets told about one self-defeating thought pattern to try to address on each visit.
Then its off to the Hell of Blazing Fires to do some manual labor with Okuu or the kitchens with Orin to earn her keep and give her a sense of purpose. At the end of the day the three of them share a bottle of oni-made sake and watch the souls of the damned burn off their sins.
Mokou gets to think about what someone who can never be cleansed by Hell's fires can do to redeem themselves while she soaks in the hot springs all night. Then, when she's ready, she does it all again. It's the perfect place for her.
After a month she goes home, rested, relaxed and rejuvenated and it takes Kaguya all of a half hour to find a new way to get under her skin and drag her back down into the mud.
